Shooting Technique in NBA Live 08 PC?

Yo NSLC.
Well i have the version NBA Live 08 on pc.
I actually get quite fustrated when im playing superstar / all star
and when even my best 3 pointer ' eddie house - 83 stat' and 'rashard lewis - 86 stat'
misses some easy possession 3 pointers available

sometimes if so, only when they have a clear lane with no one rarely marking them
then they can shoot ALRIGHT, but still vunerable to miss.
If they are marked, and i shoot, then 80% of the time, it's bound to miss.

To conclude, im needing help in any shooting tactics (and not adjustments to gameplay setting)
like how long do you hold the shoot button, do you just tap the shoot button - stuff like that?

For Ray Allen, just tap it. Quick release. I always want to see his quick release shot go in.

feel it. concentrate on the hoop, and also how the player releases the ball, it should be at the top of his shot.

actually, nba live's shooting method are all "based on luck", even elite's producers and designers said that. So just "good luck" with the way you shoot and hope that it falls

I experienced the same problems before, bro. I can't seem to make my 3-point shooters make their shots regularly. But I gradually got the hang of it so I only encounter those problems during my "off-games".

To improve your shooting technique, consider the following factors:
- Certain players have different shooting forms. For instance, some have really quick releases (Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Anthony Morrow) while some have somewhat slow releases (Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison, Dirk Nowitzki).
- How open is the player you want shooting the ball? If an opponent is closely guarding him while you shoot, your attempt will miss more often than not. If the player is really wide open, then the more chances there will be for the shot to go in. Just like playing real-life basketball.
- How high is his "Field Goals" and "3 Pointers" rating? That's pretty self-explanatory.
- As jelooo said, you have to "feel" the shot going in. If it looks straight on, it has a good shot of going in. Otherwise, don't bet on it too much.
- Most of all (I find this the most important), your team has to have momentum on its side before you can think of jacking up those 3s. They're more likely to go in during this time - even if you let non-shooters (Dwight Howard, Shaquille O'neal) take them. If you take all those 3 pointers with momentum on the opponent's side, your basically just bailing their defense out. So if your 3s aren't falling yet, try taking it to the bucket for a moment.

Though having said that, a well-timed release with a player with good shooting ratings does increase your chances of winning on the "dice roll".

but im still experiencing the same problem...
even if i try and "feel" the shot and even tried timing my shots

so i have to ask, how do you guys shoot?
the only mode which shoots perfect is rookie and abit of starter,
that only requires a single tap of the shoot button

once i play superstar or all star its a complete new level
and the gameplay settings are ridicolous to be honest.....45% chance of in..

The tips posted so far pretty much cover the basics of shooting. Aside from that, your other options are tweaking the sliders or changing Shot Control to CPU rather than User. The latter eliminates the need to time your release, it leaves everything up to a dice roll determined strictly by the player ratings.

just adjust the game sliders if you want good shots..

try the INDIVIDUAL PRACTICE option, that's how i practice the shooting of the players.
