Just an announcement I think needs to be heard...

Any mods, don't lock this yet, I will follow it up with actual patches...

First off, I would like to take an opportunity to just make a reminder of why we as a community are still patching NBA LIVE 08 3 years after 2k came onto the scene and made what is a better quality game out of the box. I thought that I would make this, because lately there has been talk of the fact that patching LIVE 08 is essentially done. Now I think I am one who can deliver something motivational, as I have survived numerous gunshots fired at me, most of the people that I know personally either stabbed or now having no life, yet I seem to be the only one who is making something out of his life, all while having to put together an actual income to support myself, as I am struggling to eat, and live comfortably while using a lot of money to attend a private school in the hope that I would make something of myself. Since then I am now living happily with my girlfriend, but the constant threat of gang attacks is something that I am weary of. So I think I can more than likely speak. But enough about that...

The reason why I am making this, is to remind us all of a dedicated patcher, one with tremendous skill, and just patched for the love of the game. He was MU560, otherwise known as MysteriousUnknown560. I remember him first quoting, 'I received a copy of NBA LIVE 08 as a gift from a friend, and have loved it ever since.' He patched for one reason, for the love of actually making a game as good as it can be. He made 1024 jerseys work. He could do everything that was able to be done. But unfortunately in life, the people who are the best people inside always find a way for their life to be thrown into chaos. He was diagnosed with cancer, and as such is fighting that right now. He may not have survived to this point in time, he may be still fighting, as I hope he still is. But still, he found the strength to produce such high quality patches, and share his wealth of information to me along the way. He is what the patching community should all be like. Not a pirate site who make patches and throw in fucking pirated games, viruses, etc, not having people who are doing a half hearted job on what they doing as a hobby, but actually patching because of the love of actually doing so. Even though EA were absolute cunts and deserted us, we are still to this day finding ways of making the game better.

So honestly, I don't see the point of why everybody is questioning this actual thing that we all are on this site for, and believe me, if I actually had a life where I didn't get gangs to have to deal with, people harassing my girlfriend just because they think it is funny, and could actually enjoy a good life, I would be patching non stop and not have all these absences from this site. So I think everyone should adapt this approach, as it is what is best for this game, even though is is outdated.

I will post some of the remaining works of MU560 later on, as a tribute to him. Right now i've got to sleep, as I am literally falling asleep writing this.

Appreciate the post, very well said. I think with some people it's simply a matter of moving on to other things and not having time for patching, or moving onto the 2K series now that it's on PC. That was bound to happen which is why we have the general sections for people who just want to drop by and chat about real basketball or other video games, as well as the 2K sections as we have a lot of people playing it these days.

That said there's obviously stuff we can still do with the PC versions of NBA Live and people who are playing them so we're not going to forget our roots as an NBA Live website. So long as there are a few of us who can put in the time and effort, I'm sure we can do some good things for these older games that people will enjoy.

I really appreciate that you can post some of his remaining work. Goerge7 and I have been searching around forever to try to find it so we can use it back for TUP10. Since you've come back, things have changed. It's like your the missing link back to the classic patching days. I for one am really glad to have you back and patching. You, MU560, George7, ej17, Andrew, and the rest of the true patchers are the ones that are keeping me into this forum, no matter how complex things get in RL or with the game.

Never knew about this MysteriousUnknown560 but I guess he's really that good in patching especially those 1024 jerseys. Kudos to him and he may be able to fight and survive cancer.
