Playing online issues??? Please help

Ok, I've just started playing online and its great but....
When I get invited to a game and I'm the visiting team it never works, just shows the competitors name and we can't change teams. I have to go back and invite somebody and even then it only works about 1 out of 5 times. Anybody else have this problem???
Also, the biggest prob, I lose connection with the ea servers about 1 out of every 2 games in or around the 3rd and 4th quarter and get a lose if I'm behind. Anybody encounter this? What can I do? I pointed the PS3 dns servers to some I found and seems a little better but still frustrating.
What's the rule for who wins and loses when the connection fails? Sometimes it doesn't count, sometimes it does, I'm confused.
Please help, I love playing online but this is frustrating! Maybe call my ISP?
