92's Barcelona Dream Team

Thu Dec 06, 2007 6:59 am

All deleted, which it under your fun.

I am of this team effort to migrate to 08, originally meant just want everyone to play happy. Since everyone is so concerned about the use of his work, then I delete it well.

tnx for the patch. i'll try this at home.

it's cool to see someone convert something that we did back in 07, just make sure to add BAYAG and dragon@4q up there on the credits as well Odin... as those two contributed greatly to the production of that mod, and deserves nothing but equal recognition...

nice patch odin ..... (Y)

remove that court. it's mine. i don't remember giving you a permission. make your own if you want. dream team is included in my project, so it's useless to duplicate my work. without a credit. without even contacting me. permission, if given, was just to bayag and glen, which are old fellows of mine. you're not. so remove the court.

I'sorry UltraNIX.I do not know that court is your work.

If remove that court, then the patch will lose its significance.

Therefore, I urge your authorization.

I hope to have your permission!if you do not want to, I will delete the patch.

Again sorry

I wasn't asked if they could be used.

I think the good of the community and user fun has been sacrificed for the ego of some patch makers.

I used to think this way a few years ago also but now I have understood that the community and game as a whole is more important then modding politics. Of course we put alot of time into certain things and it hurts when it feels like someone steals it. But we need to look beyond that, because that is a selfish view. I think it's better to have work be used and appreciated, rather then wish for everyone to not use it just because of permission issues.

And that goes for all my patches. Give credit please if you want to use my coaches patch or something else.. but either way I would rather people use and appreciate it rather then argue and tell them to make it themself. And for it to not be used. That defeats the point of why we make patches.

We make patches to improve the game don't we? I don't understand the need to make the community suffer because of something like this. It's not like there is money or profits involved. I hope in the future more people change their mind and feel this way.

To the original poster, try to give credits next time so that the people that spent the hard work making the courts and jerseys are acknowledged for their efforts. And a thumbs up to everyone who allows their work to be used as base for future patches. :!:

do you usually ask to Bono everytime you download an U2's song?

i probably would appreciate your job but i lost the chance to see it

wasnt better... can you gimme credits on the thread for my jersey?

instead of "REMOVE ITS MINE?"

i guess he didnt want STEAL your job and taking honors from your job, he just wanted give us the chance to make the game better who is probably the reason you realised that jersey...am i wrong?

Respect the patchers you morons.

Fri Dec 07, 2007 12:48 am

this discussion always pops up almost every year, and while i have nothing against sharing mods in general, i think it's time to look at it at another perspective on specific cases, the reason that UltraNIX and dragon@4q declined as i read the thread was that they were not asked by Odin 1st hand for permission, it's as simple as that... it is just that i noticed it is becoming a trend that if an original patcher/maker of a patch or mod denies permission, the one who gets denied or those doing the same practice cries foul and brand the original maker/patcher to be selfish...

look at this this way, who's more selfish in this scenario: a guy that does everything in expense of his spare time to create a mod from scratch and share it to the community on his own free will without asking for any profits... or a guy who waits for someone else's patch, modifies it and re-releases it without even acknowledging the original maker? and claims that "he" just want to make it better or in worse cases "his"?

and to those that really want to help and make the patches better, isn't it the reason why most patchers nowadays preview their works first before they release? so other community members can point out the adjustments needed that the original patchers might have overseen and make the adjustments 1st hand...

this is just to show who really falls victim to whom on some occasions, what if the guys known to make original patches suddenly at one point gets fed up, truly becomes selfish and not share anymore to the community or completely stop making them? what then?

they did the legwork so they are entitled where they want to go with it, if the permission gets granted... good, if not... simply move on, eat a sandwich, punch a clown, nurture a baby, take a bath...

and to the Bono thing, nope we don't have to ask him, because we pay for their music... which cannot be done in patches, but if Bono were to personally know you doing it, he would surely sue your ass... downloading of songs are illegal...

finally to Odin, if i was the only one that made the patch i would've granted permission, but we can't blame UltraNIX or dragon@4q if they felt that way...

as glen said all the things that needed to be said, i confirm that i want my court remove. dragon also wants the jersey to be removed. so the patch is going to be removed by mods whenever they have time. thanks for understanding. learn you morons, once and for all. i know that you all like dream team 92. but it's ridiculous to see that every year from 2004, i see a brand new "conversion" of my barcelona'92 court, "made" by different "author". i will decline ALL of the requests, regarding permissions to use my patches in whole or as a base. this is my statement, i never use anybody's work as a base of mine, so please, respect my hard work and do not use mine as a base or in whole.

Fri Dec 07, 2007 3:33 am

yep, I totally agree to glen and UltraNIX
It´s like doing a project which took you 3 hours and then somebody steals it from you. Patches are really hard work and you should respect the wishes of the original patchmakers. Nobody likes to see somebody receives recognition for something you did.
So just respect all great patchmakers!

Fri Dec 07, 2007 3:42 am

hehe entertaining thread

Fri Dec 07, 2007 4:24 am

 I should keep quiet since Glen has given such a persuasive preachment

3 hours? it would take 3 weeks to make Dream Team addon (logos, 12 player cyberfaces, portraits, euro-style court, stadium, roster, jerseys) in the quality i'm known of. if such patch took only 3 hours, my Beijing 08 mod would have been released at the day Live 08 hit the stores.

Fri Dec 07, 2007 4:00 pm

UltraNIX is correct, sometimes even creating a decent headshape would take longer than that time

Maybe you could see it as a compliment that you enjoy the work you did and want to use it with nba live 08.

I haven't used it.. probably wasn't going to use it with live 08 either, but other people were and are now dissapointed that they can't. Nice patcher you are.. :?

A few years ago I was the same, but now I look back (it was a different game) and think that I took it all way too seriously. Obviously you do good work and want respect and that is fair. But it's hard for people to respect it if they can't use it isn't it? Anyway it's just my opinion. But I think this whole thread stinks and didn't improve nba live at all.

Sat Dec 08, 2007 12:41 am

No, it didn't improve nba live,it decaded it.Now peolple wount use patches someone else made as any kind of base, and there will be a lot less patches... :?

Sat Dec 08, 2007 5:50 am

This thread could be HC bound, I guess.

This has been an annual issue, the most recent I remember was Jimmy's lighting being stolen (modified a bit, and was re-released as an entirely new mod to someone else's credit), and Glen's headshapes being uhh, seen in some other CF patch, released without his credit.

Patchers aren't paid and do these on their free time. So the respect here is to give credit on their work if someone has to make his own mod with their works in it.

Sat Dec 08, 2007 6:46 am

I find out funny that Odin only made 2 posts in 1 year. I think he might reply to this thread in a year from now.

Sat Dec 08, 2007 9:18 am

Because I respect you, I delete patches, and also before an apology before.

Please have some respect for the other person.

Sat Dec 08, 2007 9:21 am

In my view, that is used to patch done playing. Attention to what I said is "play."

Is patch just to be doing other people's praise? All are voluntary.

Too concerned about reputation and interests, not if they do not show, a trip on his own.

This simple truth does not need debate.

My English too bad. Expression may not sure what I mean.

Please forgive
