PHOTOSHOP question

i downloaded NBA 2006 Jersey Raptor and trying to copy what is in the video. but i have a problem on the logo part, it shows press the magic wand to the logo and then right click, then select inverse. in the video it would fit in the jersey template but in mine, nothing is happening. what am i doing wrong. please help. thank you.
