Dunk Package + Preview = Crash

Dunk Package + Preview = Crash

Postby airBerlin on Mon May 12, 2008 10:31 am

I tried searching the forums for a fix on this, but I only saw it brought up once and it was never resolved.

I downloaded something called Realistic Roster08 from this website. It had a lot of modifications in it and I thought I did everything right. The AI is different, the stats are different etc...

However, when I go into edit player, dunk packages, and then try to click preview, my game crashes. It looks like the preview window is going to expand to full-screen, which I don't think it's supposed to do, but the whole screen goes black, and eventually closes.

Any help?
Should I just delete everything and start from scratch? Shouldn't take too long?

I'm guessing it's a conflict between Pdub's fix that adds access to dunk packages in Edit Player and the custom aiact.viv file that the Realistic Roster is using.

Really? You think it's the AI Act? :(
Well that's not good.

Well, one thing I noticed... Is that this file I downloaded actually came with the Dunk Package feature. I didn't download anything else along with it, so it should work shouldn't it? Why would the file be released if it didn't?

I think I might just try again... Yeah - I'mma do that.

Not all updates are compatible with one another, especially once you get into aiact.viv editing.

Andrew is absolutely right. Just don't click preview. Those previews are for the dunks from 07, anyways.

Oh, I see.
Sorry, I'm very new to all of this. =/

I just want my game to be updated and quality.

What I'm looking for...

-Rookies have picture shown, instead of silhouette.
-Players ratings are up to date.
-When simulated, players don't shoot 15 three-pointers a game.
-When simulated, multiple players don't average 40ppg.
-When in game, there's a realistic balance on who shoots for the CPU's team.
-Updated courts.
-Updated interface.

So I guess, what I'm really looking for is just an update, and some AI improvements. I suppose I don't really need the dunk package thing. Is there a way to get the file without dunk package?

Also (off-topic), why is NBA Live 2008 so bad?
Don't they test the game before they release it? :/

Edit:
Just read PDub's post.
All right, I'll do that.

Thanks for the help guys. :)

You should be able to just remove the Dunk Package add-on from the sgsm folder and use everything else as normal. Alternatively, if the crashes only occur when you click Preview, you can just leave them and avoid Edit Dunk Package completely or just don't use the Preview function.

The short answer to your second question is that the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions are the priority these days and the PC version has become an afterthought (and indeed NBA Live 09 won't even be released for the PC).

Correct, it was announced on the NBA Live 08 website last month.
