What's wrong with that 3-ponters?

Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

What's wrong with that 3-ponters?

Postby dyeggoo on Sat Mar 01, 2008 5:03 am

I'm playing dynasty with Lakers and I'm 14 games into the season. The only player who ever made a 3pt shot is kobe. I'm shooting like 10% from beyond the arc. Is there any way to make an outside shot in NBA Live 08? I don't have problem with timing shot.

In my gameplay options long range shooting is set to 89.

PS. I'm playing on Superstar.

Superstar Difficulty can be pretty unforgiving when it comes to timing, player ratings and defense being in your face. You might want to try increasing the long range slider all the way to the maximum. Do you have the same problem in Practice Mode or is it just during the games?

In practice i hit almost every shot even with players with low 3pt shooting ratings.

It pisses me off when Fisher and Sasha have 0/40 3pt field goal each after 15 games.

You must be shooting contested 3's. I don't understand why you can't hit any 3's

Even wide open 3's are a lottery. This is my second dynasty with Lakers in NBA live 08 but in previous dynasty i was shooting like 40-50% of threes. my settings file was overwritten when i patched lightning and since then i just can't hit any outside shots. Maybe i should've made a backup of this file...

edit:
Maybe i'll download new rosters and start a new dynasty, see what happens.

Are you shooting from a fair way behind the three point line? Sometimes in the older games in the series the shot would only count for two points if the control circle was over the line but these days as long as the player's feet are behind the line, the basket will count for three as it's meant to.

It's okay now. I found a way to fix it: I just stopped playing this game

Well, that certainly would avoid the frustration. :)

I'm sorry but this years Live is much different. You can't just shoot 3 pointers all day. You have to work the ball inside/outside and then you might have a shot at a 3 pointer. It seems that you are shooting a ton of 3 pointers.

Are you playing 08? Hitting 3's in this game isn't too difficulty. More than likely, you're doing something wrong..i have my 3's set at 50 and I'm hitting them around 40%..

I think the timing of the release is different. I tried playing the '08 3-pt head to head game for about 3 days. Then I went back to playing my dynasty, and was able to make 2/3 3pts in one game. When I have control of a game too, I starting making open 3's, but hardly make them when contested. When I went back to try playing '06 3pt head-to-head game, I can't make any for the first 2-3 racks.

I think it is also a factor that jump shots were too easy in previous versions. When I started playing '06, guys like Dwight Howard, Okafor, Al Jefferson even scrubs like Mihm were excellent jump shooters, which automatically made guys like Troy Murphy, Bogut, Brezec and Bargnani into superstars.
YEAH BOY!

My suggestion.... Iam using Analogy Controller, iam playing with NY KNICKS. Iam using Jones (SG). actually what I do is, setup my shoot control manual, then i shoot often him from 3pt, so actually i know how to shoot with him. later on i trade him with Jones (portland) 3pt maniac. when i try to shoot him it's crazy. he score 36pts 16/9 something from 3pt. try to use Manual control. Automate control is sucks in 08. propz
