anyone ever seen an error like this, or know what part of players.dbf would be throwing this error?

It's happening when I simulate a day that 0 games are being played.

Simply empty the workingdb folder or restore the default dbf files in that folder (copy them from originaldb or the NBA Live 08 disc. Problems in the currentdb and workingdb folders can be solved that way, if the problem is with a database in your Dynasty save then it's usually more serious (and difficult, if not impossible, to fix).

Actually, the file it's referring to is in the workingdb folder so you should give the method I described above a try. What I meant was, if the Codebase Error refers to a file that's located in your Dynasty's save folder (which isn't the case here) then it's more difficult to fix. Sorry for the confusion.
