Gameplay Issues

Postby TC#10 on Wed Nov 07, 2007 6:18 am

When playing against the CPU team, i've noticed that the opponent PG would pass the ball mid-court to one of the Star players and right away they would drive to the rim and score or either shoot and score. This is very unrealistic cause in real life teams would set up and there would be 3-4 passes before a shot is taken. But with LIVE 08 there seems to be a one pass to star player than score philosophy instead.

Is EA going to provide a patch which will fix the AIACT? or do pathers here have to do it themselves, Andrew? thanks

TC#10 - as with previous years, I think the issue with this behavior has been that the default "play" for all the teams is set up as "Shooter A" (I think that is the play name...I am at work and can't check right now). In the Live 07 forum, I had a couple of posts in one of Playmakers threads that detailed how to edit the teams.dbf file to change the default play for all the teams to a more appropriate play. Once this is done, you will tend to see the PG run more offiense instead of driving himself or making one pass to a player who shoots or drives.

I do not expect to see a patch from EA for this...but the community has provided good support on this kind of gameplay issue in the past (for the PC) and I am sure we will do our best to do so again this year.

I'll post more details on making this change (in teams.dbf) as well as changing the other offensive plays (in playmap.dbf) once I get a chance to do more testing at home.

I hear you, I was playing Seatle last night and by the end of the first quarter Wilkins (starting SG) had probably 10 shots and over 10 points. I am going to check in a minute if there is a rating that we can edit to see if we can decrease a players shooting/scoring frequency, I can't remember if it's in this years version.

i totally agree with you, i thought it was just me facing this problem. There would always be one player that just runs up and scores and it's very hard to stop him. for lakers it would be byrant, for bucks it would be redd. Also the star will never sub off, as a result redd will get like 50 points each game and the shooting percentage of that team will sky rocket since they never miss layups. Can any one find a fix for this, it's very frusturating

i have the same problem and its very hard to stop.
i just try to double team when i can, and contest all the there shots. i usually keep the stars to about 30-40 points

also, if its a big man i try to draw fouls from them by driving every play.
