Andrew Bynum Had No Trouble In the Paint Against The Thunder, Scoring 25 Points.

The NBA Season opened up with a bang as the Thunder travelled to the city of angels to face off against the Kobe Bryant led Los Angeles Lakers. The game show cased some amazing scorers in Bryant and the Thunder’s duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook and it was a game that many expected to go down to the wire.

The game was extremely close heading into half time with Los Angeles up 45-41 thanks to a Kobe Bryant three pointer that her drained just as the buzzer sounded. Oklahoma City got little help from Kevin Durant who only had 7 points at the break thanks to a dismal 3-14 shooting.

The second half saw the Lakers jump out to an 11 point lead fuelled by Andrew Bynum who scored the Lakers first 9 points in the 3rd quarter and continued to control the paint for the Lakers and helped keep Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook from getting inside and bringing the Thunder back into the game.

Los Angeles held the Thunder off after a 4th quarter charge that saw them get within 3 points however some poor shooting from Durant and James Harden saw that 3 point margin slip back out to 9 points and that was a gap that the Thunder could not close and eventually fell 89-97.

Thunder Stats:

R.Westbrook: 19 Pts (7-14 FG) | 2 Reb | 6 Ast
K.Durant: 17 Pts (6-23 FG) | 10 Reb | 6 Ast

Oklahoma City looked to rebound after dropping their season opener against the Lakers 97-89 and facing a Phoenix Suns team that contains scoring threats Shannon Brown, Steve Nash and Josh Childress it was going to be no easy task.

Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead and led by as many as 16 points in the 3rd quarter but that deficit was cut to only 5 points in the 4th quarter thanks to Shannon Brown and Grant Hill who combined for 35 second half points and some solid defense from Marcin Gortat who finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Thankfully for Thunder fans the dynamic duo of Durant and Westbrook combined for 48 points including 12 in the 4th quarter alone that helped hold off a spirited fight back from the Suns and hold on for a 108-101 victory.

Thunder Stats:

K.Durant: 24 Pts (10-19 FG) | 9 Reb | 5 Ast
R.Westbrook: 24 Pts (8-16 FG) | 1 Reb | 11 Ast
S.Ibaka: 21 Pts (8-10 FG) | 9 Reb | 1 Ast
J.Harden: 19 Pts (8-16 FG) | 1 Ast | 2-6 3Pt

Suns Stats:

Danny Granger and Kevin Durant Went at Each Other All Game. Granger Came out With the Win 118-109

Image [1-1]: 118
Image [1-2]: 109

Danny Granger vs. Kevin Durant does it get any better? This game had all the ingredients to be a very interesting game and boy did it live up to that. Oklahoma struggled early on but tied the game up heading in to half time thanks to a half court buzzer beater by James Harden to make it 56-56 at the break.

The Thunder once again struggled in the 2nd half and this lead to a 17 point lead by the Pacers that was just too much for the Thunder to come back from. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook scored 39 points each but it was the lack of scoring from the rest of the Thunder that cost them with only James Harden scoring in double figures (16).

The Pacers had 5 players in double figures with Danny Granger leading them with 33 and Roy Hibbert dominated inside for Indiana scoring 22 points and adding 13 rebounds and 3 assists in the 118-109 victory.

Thunder Stats:

K.Durant: 39 Pts (17-25 FG) | 5 Reb | 4 Ast
R.Westbrook: 39 Pts (11-20 FG) | 2 Reb | 7 Ast
J.Harden: 16 Pts (5-9 FG) | 2 Ast | 2 Stl
S.Ibaka: 7 Pts (2-7 FG) | 5 Reb | 1 Blk

Pacers Stats:

D.Granger: 33 Pts (10-19 FG) | 3 Reb | 1 Ast
R.Hibbert: 22 Pts (6-8 FG) | 12 Reb | 3 Blk
D.West: 21 Pts (8-16 FG) | 8 Reb | 1 Ast
P.George: 15 Pts (4-10 FG) | 11 Reb | 2 Blk

Russell Westbrook Throws Down A Dunk For 2 of His 19 Points. However The Thunder Lost 102-95

Image [1-3]: 95
Image [2-1]: 102

Oklahoma City knew had a tough task in front of them facing off against the defending world champions in Dallas on the same night they were given the championship rings, unfortunately for the Thunder it is a team game and relying on Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook is not going to win you every game.

Oklahoma only had three players score in double figures again with Kevin Durant leading all scorers with 32 points, Russell Westbrook chipped in with 19 points and Kendrick Perkins added 11 points and 7 rebounds but poor shooting once again doomed the Thunder, a trend that has hurt them over the first week of the season.

Jason Terry and Dirk Nowitzki scored 24 and 23 points respectively and helped the Mavericks to a 102-95 victory but it was also their role players such as Vince Carter, Shawn Marion and Delonte West who chipped in and all scoffed in double figures to help Mavericks to a victory.

Thunder Stats:

K.Durant: 32 Pts (13-25 FG) | 9 Reb | 4 Ast
R.Westbrook: 19 Pts (8-16 FG) | 1 Reb | 2 Ast
K.Perkins: 11 Pts (4-4 FG) | 7 Reb | 2 Stl
J.Harden: 8 Pts (3-12 FG) | 4 Reb | 4 Ast

Mavericks Stats:

J.Terry: 24 Pts (10-20 FG) | 5 Reb | 4 Ast
D.Nowitzki: 23 Pts (9-19 FG) | 7 Reb | 1 Stl
S.Marion: 18 Pts (9-16 FG) | 7 Reb | 5 Ast
J.Kidd: 14 Pts (3-10 FG) | 2 Reb | 3 Ast
