Stadium being built in Connecticut
By Tony Harris, Posted: 6/22/09

A large basketball arena is being constructed in Connecticut, and not many people know why. It may be for the WNBA franchise the Connecticut Suns, or for something else. Apparently it is being built by the KDDW Corporation, a company that manufactures many different household appliances. KDDW Corporation’s owner, Doug Douglas, was unavailable to comment on why exactly the arena is being built.

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY

Hundreds of Nets fans lined the street in front of the makeshift stage where Russian billionaire Mikael Prokhorov was set to make an important announcement concerning the New Jersey Nets. Prokhorov had bought the Nets around 2 years ago, but the team was still not doing well under his control.

The street was very loud and a flurry of movement as fans tried to get closer and better views of the stage. All of it stopped suddenly. A limousine came to a screeching halt right next to the stage.

Out stepped Prokhorov, the 6’8, Russian billionaire, flanked by a pair of bodyguards. He stepped up onto the stage and walked to the microphone on the podium.

“Ahem,” he said, clearing his throat, “Hello New Jersey Nets fans,” he began with a deep Russian accent. “I know that many viewers think that they know what I am going to do here. In a decision made by everyone, we have decided too…”

The crowd buzzed with excitement, and many viewers watching on TV believed that this was where Prokhorov would say it, the team was moving to Brooklyn where they would become the Brooklyn Nets.

“Sell the team, due to lack of success,” Prokhorov announced. This was meant with silence, and stunned shock. Why would Prokhorov sell the team? He was the richest NBA team owner, and hadn’t even owned the team a long time. After a minute of silence someone yelled out.

“Boo!”

The single call launched the street into unrest as many intensely pissed off fans rushed the stage. Prokhorov dodged the numerous Nets items that he recognized from the team’s gift shop. He entered his limousine and escaped, leaving one bodyguard behind to be bludgeoned by the crowd…

New Jersey Nets are done
By Ted Harris August 12th, 2011

In an announcement earlier today it was announced by Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov that due to the team’s dismal success in recent years the franchise will be disbanded. This has come as a shock too many, as it was expected that the conference was to announce that the Nets would be moving to Brooklyn. Also, Prokhorov is currently the richest NBA team owner. NBA Commissioner David Stern has yet to release anything on the subject, but it is expected he will hold a conference in the next few days. More information is to follow.

David Stern says there is “Already a solution.”
By Ted Harris August 14th, 2011

After news that the New Jersey Nets franchise is being disbanded, David Stern held a press conference, where he told everyone, believe it or not, that there is already a solution to the problem.

“Many are wondering what will happen, and I assure you, the season will continue on as normal. There is already a solution to the problem.”

Stern was unavailable for anymore comments, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

New NBA Franchise announced
By Ted Harris August 15th, 2011

Apparently there will be a new NBA franchise in, believe it or not, Hartford, Connecticut. There has never been an NBA franchise in Connecticut, or an NFL one, or a MLB one for that matter. In fact, Connecticut has been rather devoid of professional sports.

The franchise will apparently be owned by Doug Douglas, a native from Connecticut. Nobody knows who exactly Douglas is, but many basketball fans do not care and are just excited to see the 2011-12 season carry on as expected.

This new team will select 15 players in an expansion draft on Friday. The rules of the expansion draft follow:

- Each current NBA team can protect up to 8 players from its active, injured and suspended lists as of the last day of the season; provided that each current team must leave at least one player unprotected.

- The new team can only select one player from each team, with 15 players being selected maximum.

- If the team selects less than 15 players, they may select free agents.

Many basketball fans are eagerly awaiting news as to what players this new team will select. A dispersal draft for the Nets players will be held tomorrow. Every team will have an equal chance to choose a player in the lottery.

Miami Heat wins 2011-12 Championship

Numerous basketball fans have expressed outrage as last year’s runner ups, the Miami Heat, come away from the expansion draft with all-star point guard Deron Williams.
Williams, combined with the power-house combo of LeBron, D-Wade, and Chris Bosh, will undoubtedly bring the Heat a championship. I smell a 95-96 Bulls season coming. Here are the other results of the dispersal draft.

Heat: Deron Williams, PG
Cavaliers: Brook Lopez, C
Blazers: Kris Humphries, PF
Nuggets: Damion James, SF
Hornets: Sasha Vujacic, SG
Grizzlies: Travis Outlaw, SF
Pistons: Marshon Brooks, SG
Bulls: Jordan Williams, C
Bucks: Brandon Wright, PF
Wizards: Anthony Morrow, SG
Bobcats: Bojan Bogdanovic, SG
Rockets: Jordan Farmar, PG
Suns: Ben Uzoh, PG
Jazz: Stephen Graham, SF
Celtics: Johan Petro, C

Brook Lopez has joined the Cavaliers, and will probably replace Anderson Varejao in the starting lineup.

Kris Humphries will likely be the first man off the bench for the Blazers. 25th pick Marshon Brooks will be joining the Pistons for his rookie season, while 36th pick Jordan Williams will be going to the Bulls. 31st pick Bojan Bogdanovic will be going to the Bobcats.

Expansion Draft Results:
By Ted Douglas August 24th, 2011

1. Andre Miller- Denver Age 35 Point Guard
2. Marcus Camby- Portland Age 37 Center
3. Tracy McGrady- Detroit Age 32 Shooting Guard
4. Josh Childress- Phoenix Age 28 Small Forward
5. Manny Harris- Cleveland Age 22 Shooting Guard
6. C.J Miles- Utah Age 24 Small Forward
7. Jordan Hill- Houston Age 24 Power Forward
8. Jordan Crawford- Washington Age 23 Shooting Guard
9. Larry Sanders- Milwaukee Age 22 Power Forward
10. Josh Selby- Memphis Age 20 Point Guard
11. Nikola Mirotic- Chicago Age 20 Power Forward
12. JaJuan Johnson- Boston Age 22 Power Forward
13. Marcus Banks- New Orleans Age 29 Point Guard
14. Joel Anthony- Miami Age 29 Center
15. Dante Cunningham- Charlotte Age 24 Small Forward

This new expansion team has taken several aging veterans, such as Andre Miller, Marcus Camby, Tracy McGrady, Josh Childress, and Joel Anthony. These veterans will provide a lot of support and knowledge for the 3 rookies, guard Josh Selby, center Nikola Mirotic, and forward JaJuan Johnson.

The team’s highest scorer is CJ Miles, who averaged just 12.8 points a game last season. However, with the increased minutes they’ll get here, you shouldn’t count out McGrady and Miller just yet.

HARFORD, CT

Doug Douglas stood on the stage smiling at the hundreds of people in front of him. They were eager, and ready for the presentation to start.

“Greetings basketball fans of all ages!” Douglas yelled. “How is everyone?”

The crowd yelled out in response. Douglas had no idea what they had just said.
“Well that’s good. I hope everyone is excited for there to be an NBA team in Hartford, because I know I am. Without any further ado, I am proud to announce that this new NBA teams name will be… the Hartford Hoops!” Douglas yelled.

The crowd roared in approval. Douglas doubted that anyone cared, and that they were just happy that they’d have a pro team in town.

“Now, let me show you are uniforms, worn by team member Josh Childress!” The crowd clapped as Josh Childress came out on stage, dressed in the team’s home uniform.

The uniform was white, with blue stripes down the sides. The number and name was also blue. The crowd yelled out even louder as Tracy McGrady came out, dressed in the away uniform, which was maroon and blue.

Douglas was glad that the team liked the uniforms. He just hoped that they would still be happy after they saw the most likely dismal record that the team would finish with this season.

Game 1, v Washington Wizards

It was quiet in the locker room, silent in fact. Josh Selby sat in the corner of the room along with JaJuan Johnson and Nikola Mirotic, ready for their first ever NBA game. For the veterans, they’d seen it many times before. However, none had had this feeling. They were making history, playing the first game in the Hoops’ existence.

Tracy McGrady stood up and broke the silence. “Y’all ready to play?”

The players stood in a huddle in the center of the locker room, heads bowed, in a pre-game ritual. Then they ran out onto the court.

It was a crazy atmosphere in the arena. The fans were screaming, lights were flashing, and the announcer was introducing the starters.

“At Point Guard, standing 6’2, out of the Univerisity of Utah… Andre Miller!!!”

Andre Miller ran forward, high-fiving his new team-mates. He was followed by Marcus Camby, Josh Childress, Tracy McGrady, and Jordan Hill, all following the same routine, Head Coach Kenneth Wheeler was proud to see that the team had already developed some chemistry. He just hoped it could last.

McGrady moved around the center of the court, high fiving his teammates. Camby stepped up for the tipoff. As the whistle blew he leapt up, but Javale McGee hit the ball first, tapping it over to John Wall. The Game had begun.

Ken Wheeler watched from the sideline as Nick Young hit a three, and Javale McGee threw down a dunk, scattering the Hoops. It would be a long game, and one that the Hoops had no chance of winning.

Hoops crushed in franchises first game

What was anyone’s game at the end of the 1st quarter quickly became one-sided as the Wizards crushed the Hoops. The final score was 141-93, with the Hoops losing by an amazing 48 points. The Wizards dominated, with the Hoops leading in just 2 categories (Offensive rebounds 18 to 12, and Second Chance Points 20 to 10).

One of the big reasons for the loss was turnovers. Every single Hoops player (besides Manny Harris) had atleast 1 turnover, with a team total of 22. Another was field goal percentage, with the Hoops shooting just 39/109 (35 percent).

Two NBA records were broken in this game, and they were:
Most fast-break points: Wizards with 65
Fewest points in a quarter: Hoops with 16

The Wizards had 7 players scoring in double figures, and had 3 double-doubles. The player of the game was Andray Blatche with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Nick Young led the Wizards in scoring with 29 points, while also grabbing 5 boards and handing out 5 assists.

Not all was bad for the Hoops though, with Jordan Hill having an all-star performance. The 3rd year forward scored a career high 31 points, and grabbed a career high 15 rebounds. He also had 3 blocks.

The Hoops’ shooting was truly terrible. No other word describes it. Three players shot 1 for 8. (Manny Harris, Nikola Mirotic, Jordan Crawford) Three of Mirotic’s shots were wide open layups that he somehow missed. The best shooter (aside from JaJuan Johnson who hit his 1 shot) was Jordan Hill with a .58.

Hopefully the Hoops can win atleast 10 games this season, but even that may be hoping for too much.

Hoops and Bobcats complete a 4 player trade
By Ted Douglas

Just this morning the Charlotte Bobcats and Hartford Hoops were involved in a trade. The Bobcats gave away starting small forward Corey Maggette and rookie big-man Bismack Biyombo for two aging veterans in Andre Miller and Marcus Camby.

This seems like an odd trade for Charlotte, as they traded up in order to grab Biyombo in the draft, and now they are trading him away for two old players.
Charlotte also got Hartford’s 2013 2nd round pick. Biyombo and Maggette will likely remain starters in Hartford, and Camby will likely stay a starter in Charlotte. Miller however, may have a problem getting minutes behind starters DJ Augustin and Kemba Walker.

Injury will keep Jordan Crawford sidelined
An injury during the Hoops' 38 point loss to the Heat will keep 2nd year guard Jordan Crawford sidelined for up to 2 weeks.

“It’s real disappointing. I was pretty much injury-free last season, and now getting an injury like this that’ll keep me from playing for a bit (shakes his head) it’s disappointing," says Crawford about the injury.

Hopefully this injury will not be too much of a setback for the young guard, who has already claimed that he will be the greatest of all time.

Re: NBA 2K12 Expansion Team- November Trade Rumors

Postby JNett on Sun Nov 13, 2011 4:03 am

Mid November Trade Rumors

There are several trade rumors going around, and some involve big name players from teams such as the Celtics, Kings, Nuggets, and Hawks. Here are just a few of these rumors...

Al Horford is a great center for the Hawks. He’s currently averaging 10 points and 11 rebounds a game, which is down from his scoring average last year of 15 points. However, he’s playing 6 less minutes which could be having an effect.

Horford has been an All-Star the past two years, and was named to an All-NBA team for the first time last year too. He’s a big part of this Atlanta roster, and one may wonder why he’s on the market at all.

It’s already been said that the Thunder have agreed on a deal including Horford. If so, it’ll be interesting to see who Atlanta gets in return.

Teams Interested: Bucks, Thunder

The 6’4 Jrue Holiday is currently second in scoring for the 76ers with 14 points a game, along with 5 boards and 6 assists. When Philadelphia took Holiday they were planning on him being their point guard of the future, so seeing him here is a surprise.

It’s possible that they want 6th man Louis Williams to have that starting role. He’s currently playing 10 minutes less than Holiday, and scoring the same. However, Williams passing is down from former seasons (2 a game).

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out

Teams interested: Clippers, Lakers, Cavaliers

The most odd of all these rumors is most likely the one involving former MVP Kevin Garnett of the Celtics. Earlier this year Garnett announced “I want to finish the rest of my career as a Celtic,” so to see his name here this early in the season is a bit surprising. Even more surprising is the fact that rumors say the Spurs may be interested in swapping Tim Duncan, who has played his entire career with San Antonio, for Garnett.

It’s possible that the Celtics GM is trying to move in some young talent to assist Rajon Rondo for when the aging Pierce, Allen, and Garnett are gone. However, with Garnett’s current averages of 16 Points, and 10 rebounds a game, he can hardly be classified as an aging player.

Teams Interested: Spurs

A Demotion

Tracy McGrady ran straight at Josh Selby, and then fired a no look pass behind him at CJ Miles, who was right behind the 3 point line. Miles fired before Josh Childress could get a hand up in his face. The ball went clean through the net.

Head Coach Wheeler blew his whistle and waved Josh Childress over to the sideline. He patted Jordan Crawford on his back, and he took Childress’s spot in the practice.

“What’s up coach?” Josh asked.

“Douglas wants to see you in his office for a minute.”

Josh knocked on the door and heard Douglas call for him to come in.

“Hello Josh. How are you?” Douglas asked. He motioned for Childress to take a seat across from him. Josh sat down.

“I’m good. What’s up?” he asked. Douglas sighed and put on his glasses. He looked at Josh for a minute before speaking.

“We need to talk about how you’re performing.”

Josh frowned. “Well it’s not as good as I hoped I’d be playing, but I’m a great presence for the younger guys, they can learn a lot from me.”

Douglas shook his head. “That might be true, but look at your stats. You’re playing 34 minutes a game, and averaging 5 points!”

“And 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Plus my defense has helped our team a lot!” Josh defended himself.

“Well look at CJ. He’s playing 10 minutes less than you, scoring 7 more points, and grabbing 2 more boards. In 10 less minutes! 10 less minutes!”

“Well I’m passing the ball more,” Childress said.

“And that’s great! But when we’re getting blown out by 20 points each game CJ’s 7 more points are going to be helping a lot more than your 2 assists. CJ can accomplish so much more if he’s starting,” Douglas told Josh.

“So this is about you giving CJ my starting role? You told me before that I’d be starting!” Josh raised his voice and had started yelling.

“I told you you’d start if you played like a starter. However, 5 points and 3 assists isn’t playing like a starter. CJ is playing great so far. Plus, you’ll be the first man off the bench,” Douglas said, trying to calm Childress down.

“I don’t want to come off the bench. I want to be out there at the beginning of the game,” Josh snarled.

“I’m sorry Josh. But Miles is getting the starting role.”

Childress stormed out of the office.

1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
KNICKS 23 27 45 39 134
HOOPS 25 31 34 32 122

In a match up that pitted the 8-3 New York Knicks against the 1-10 Hartford Hoops you could see how hard both teams wanted to win. However, as much as the Hoops wanted to come out on top, the Knicks were the stronger team, coming out with a 12 point victory, 134-122.

Carmelo Anthony was the reason for his teams win. It seemed as though he couldn’t miss in the 4th quarter. He ended the game with a double-double, 40 points and 12 rebounds. Amar’e Stoudemire didn’t have the game he had hoped for scoring wise (6 points in 35 minutes) but he did grab 16 rebounds.

Chauncey Billups was handing out assists everywhere, ending the game with 14 to go along with his 26 points.

Meanwhile for the Hoops, CJ Miles led the team in scoring. He scored 10 points in the first half, shooting just 25 percent. However, he managed to step it up, hitting three 3 pointers in a row to begin the 2nd half.

Josh Childress had a one of his best games this season, getting 13 points, and grabbing 5 boards. The team’s leading scorer, Corey Maggette, was a bit of a letdown with just 13 points, compared to his current average of 22. Tracy McGrady handed out a career high 16 assists. He was one rebound shy of the franchise’s first triple-double.

“Coach keeps telling us that we have a tendency to move to fast, so that’s one of the things we were trying to fix coming into the game, and I think we slowed it down to our tempo, and it was working out until the end. We had way too many 3 point attempts, and we need to fix that,” said team captain Tracy McGrady of the Hoops when asked about what they did well and what they did not so well.

Best 4 Performances
1. NY Carmelo Anthony: 40 points, 2 assists, 12 rebounds, 4 steals,1 block
2. NY Chauncey Billups: 26 points, 14 assists, 2 rebounds, 4 steals
3. HAR Tracy McGrady: 10 points, 16 assists, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks
4. HAR Jordan Hill: 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks
