1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
KNICKS 23 27 45 39 134
HOOPS 25 31 34 32 122
In a match up that pitted the 8-3
New York Knicks against the 1-10
Hartford Hoops you could see how hard both teams wanted to win. However, as much as the Hoops wanted to come out on top, the Knicks were the stronger team, coming out with a 12 point victory, 134-122.
Carmelo Anthony was the reason for his teams win. It seemed as though he couldn’t miss in the 4th quarter. He ended the game with a double-double, 40 points and 12 rebounds.
Amar’e Stoudemire didn’t have the game he had hoped for scoring wise (6 points in 35 minutes) but he did grab 16 rebounds.
Chauncey Billups was handing out assists everywhere, ending the game with 14 to go along with his 26 points.
Meanwhile for the Hoops,
CJ Miles led the team in scoring. He scored 10 points in the first half, shooting just 25 percent. However, he managed to step it up, hitting three 3 pointers in a row to begin the 2nd half.
Josh Childress had a one of his best games this season, getting 13 points, and grabbing 5 boards. The team’s leading scorer,
Corey Maggette, was a bit of a letdown with just 13 points, compared to his current average of 22.
Tracy McGrady handed out a career high 16 assists. He was one rebound shy of the franchise’s first triple-double.
“Coach keeps telling us that we have a tendency to move to fast, so that’s one of the things we were trying to fix coming into the game, and I think we slowed it down to our tempo, and it was working out until the end. We had way too many 3 point attempts, and we need to fix that,” said team captain
Tracy McGrady of the Hoops when asked about what they did well and what they did not so well.
