Recap/Team Stats/Pacers Box/Pistons Box

Nov 2nd 2011, The Palace of Auburn Hills

Indiana rolled into Detroit with high hopes of there recent trip to the 2011 playoffs which saw them fall in the first round to the Chicago Bulls 4-1 in the series but as coach Frank Vogel put it "shows the direction we are moving" however his Pacers team must of felt like they were still on holiday with there lackluster handle of the ball coughing up 22 turnovers for the game and a slow start of just 16 1st quarter points.

Both Indiana point guards struggled to look after the ball and get into the flow of the offence Collison committed 4 TO's while new comer and former Spur George Hill had 5 which help the Pistons along to 18 fast break points.

Captain Danny Granger calmed the storm with 21 points on 8-15 shooting but got little help unlike the Pistons who sent on super sub Ben Gordon in the 2nd quarter, he shot the lights out in the 2nd and 3rd quarter earning player of the game honours with 22 points 10-13 shooting in just 19 mins. Detroit also got a lot of clutch buckets from Richard Hamilton, he also scored 22 points while Rodney Stuckey chipped in 13 points and 9 assists for the Pistons.

Indiana never lead in this game and it was a major learning curve for everyone involved, the Pacers did however get a double double from 3rd year forward Tyler Hansbrough and Josh McRoberts was also solid off the bench.

Recap/Team Stats/Thunders Box/Pacers Box

4th Nov, Oklahoma City.

The Pacers got off to yet another slow start or was it the Thunder got off to a fast start? Either way the Thunder scored 8 unanswered to start the game, 6 by allstar point guard Russell Westbrook as the Pacers could only watch there poor offence only mount up to 16 1st quarter points for the 2nd game running.

Things didnt get any better in the 2nd as Indiana could buy a basket shooting just 28% from the field but on a good note they did trim there turnovers down to 12 after giving the ball up 22 times two nights earlier, Danny Granger lead the way 16 points but seemed at times to be forcing his shot up in a while the Thunder increased there lead to 20.

Vogel was clearly getting frustrated at how little he was getting from his starting big men Roy Hibbert and Tyler Hansbrough both playing 31 minutes but combined for 15 points and 12 rebounds numbers Frank Vogel would prefer from just one player alone.

Oklahoma put up a great defensive team effort tonight and were getting plays from role players James Harden and Kendrick Perkins both have stepped up there games early in the season, Harden the newest member of the starting lineup is averaging 17ppg and Perk has being a tear on the boards snatching 13 per contest.

Kevin Durant came into the game as the nba's 2nd leading scorer (34ppg) from 2 games but was held to just 16 vs the Pacers but was not really needed with such a the Thunder had he did however grab 10 rebounds in the 28 minutes he played in.

Recap/Team stats/Celtics Box/Pacers Box

5th Nov 2011, Conseco Fieldhouse - Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Pacers fanbase poured into the fieldhouse to watch there home team play its first home game of the locked out season which ended just 2 weeks before the start of play and also saw the guys for indy get off to a slow start there first 2 games not taking care of the ball and shooting very poorly.

Tonight however would be a very different as this Pacer team would shoot the lights out lead by 2nd year Paul George who scored 14 of his 24 points in the 3rd quarter alone as he refused to let the Celtics spoil there homecoming lead by Ray Allen's 35 points hitting 7 three pointers along the way, he also grabbed 9 rebounds too joined by Kevin Garnett's 11 rebounds who also posted 18 points on the night, George would later be named Player of the Game.

Pacers coach Frank Vogel once again urged big man Roy Hibbert to toughen up on the boards but his center only managed 5 against a very physical Boston frontline, his teammate Tyler Hansbrough posted his 2nd double double of the season with 12 points 11 rebounds.

Danny Granger's offence is still missing in action but his coach is confident that his shots will start to fall soon enough, in Other Pacers news we have learnt today that guard George Hill has a sore elbow and is listed "day to day" but isnt expected to miss any action.

We have also being informed that the Oklahoma City Thunder will be without starting center Kendrick Perkins for the remainder of the season following a torn MCL in the 1st quarter vs the Dallas Mavericks, Perk was averging 9ppg 13rpg 2.2bpg.

Recap/Team stats/Rockets Stats/Pacers Stats/Highlights

8th Nov 2011, Indiana.

High off there win over the Celtics a few days before the Pacers hoped that the 2 day lay off would catapult them back into the flow of things but they took this Houston Rockets team for granted and they also took Kevin Martin for granted too, the one time King went off for 28 points and 5 rebounds snapping a 2 game loosing streak.

On a good note for the Pacers Roy Hibbert looked like a big man Indy needs in the middle with a few post moves in the paint on his way to 15 points along with grabbing 10 rebounds and returning 4 shots too, Danny Granger took a stronger stand too leading the team with 13 rebounds he chipped in 20 points too as he looks to return to form.

The game bounced back and too in a poor shooting night for both teams shooting just 41% this really wasnt a good one for the fans but they were impressed with the passing skills of Darren Collison who dished 12 assists and recorded 2 steals too as he matched up against the strong quick Rockets guard Kyle Lowry and even matched up against POG Kevin Martin at times too.

The Pacers lost this close game but hope to bounce back in Milwaukee as they face the Bucks.

I dig the team choice and the Up Next... feature. Will be interesting to see what you do with the team and how your youth develops.

Recap/Team Stats / Pacers Stats / Bucks Stats / Highlights

9th Nov- Bradley center, Milwaukee.

Facing a red hot Bucks team Frank Vogel expect his team to come out firing against the division rivals but defensively they were torn apart by the Buck outside shooting and once again there own ball handling leading to turnovers.

Trade rumours have started to circulate through the media that the Pacers are looking to add a front court player with scoring abilities as the poor offence continues, Danny Granger again took a back seat shooting 6 of 16 from the field for 14 points, his numbers keep dropping now down to 17ppg from the 25ppg he was scoring back in 2009 while now shooting a career low of 39%.

Indiana has there eye on a few players one being David West of the Hornets but the Pacers are unwilling to part ways with either Granger or 2nd year player Paul George in the deal.

Tyler Hansbrough had another double double vs the Bucks of 14 points and 13 rebounds while also shooting 50% from the field making him one of the few bright spots in this early season, Brandon Rush also made a good calling for playing time with 5 quick points off the bench and some solid defence.

Milwaukee were lead by Carlos Delfino's 23 points which included 5 3 point daggers but player of the game honours went to there new star attraction journeyman Stephen Jackson who also scored 23 points while grabbing 8 rebounds.

The Bucks announced before the game that they have re-signed G/F Chris Douglas-Roberts to a 6 year deal worth $21.50M.

Great presentation with the recaps and the game previews. (Y) Not the best of starts so far, but hopefully with the young players on the roster you'll get it together soon.

Recap / Team Stats / Suns Stats / Pacers Stats / Highlights

11th Nov, Indiana.

It was a matchup of 2 struggling team but there could be only one winning and Danny Granger stepped up to make sure that it was his team, the home town Indiana Pacers that came out on top going for a game high 31 points while also collecting "Player of the Game" honours also grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing 8 assists for the Pacers.

This ended a 4 game skid of off games that Granger had being having early this season that has seen him average just 17ppg nearly 7 points below his average just a season ago.

Vince Carter looked like he had turned back the clock to his old "Air Canada" days early with a couple of high wire acts but later it was his 3 point shooting that did the damage, he went 4-9 from downtown finishing with 27 points for the game 12 of which came in the 4th quater. The Suns only other bright spot came from the tough play of center Marcin Gortat and he cleaned up on the boards with 17 rebounds , 7 of them offensive which saw the Suns grab a season high 22 off rebounds leaving Frank Vogel fuming at his players.

Indy once again got solid numbers from Tyler Hansbrough another double double to his name of 15 points and 10 rebounds he also added 5 assists too, Roy Hibbert did little else again during his minutes on the floor but proved his worth in the final 2 minutes blocking both Aaron Brooks and Grant Hill at the rim helping the Pacers close out this very close game 101-103, the game came down to free throws in the final seconds Indiana had a 5 point lead with 5 seconds to go till Vince Carter nailed a 3 point shot to cut it to 2 as time expired.

Recap / Team Stats / Knicks stats / Pacers Stats / Highlights

12th Nov, New York.

The knicks have being a team to reckon with early this season and as the Indiana Pacers would learn that "Mr Big shots" is call this for a reason, Chauncey Billups scored 7 of his 19 points in the final minute of the game. First came a dagger 3 with 59 seconds remaining giving New York a 94-97 advantage over the Pacers.

Paul George and Danny Granger both hit 2 point baskets in the final 30 seconds but they had to keep fouling to stop the clock and the knicks knew just who's hands to put the ball in ... mr Big shots...

Billups would calmly sink all 4 foul shots sealing the win for New York who now move to 6-1 on the season, the "Player of the Game" award goes to fellow clutch shooter Carmelo Anthony as he scored 20 2nd half points on a mix of pull ups, cross overs and offensive put backs.

Amare Stoudemire had a quite night not looking to shoot the ball much and didnt crash the boards either just 16 points and 3 rebounds for the knicks 2nd star player, Landry Fields helped out with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

The Pacers seem to of found there groove out there offensively but thinks could be alot better executing plays and taking the right shots, Roy Hibbert scored a season high 17 points while blocking 2 shots and again Brandon Rush made a case for more playing time with 5 quick points off the bench in just 4 minutes of action.

Trade News

Pacers trade T.J Ford to Kings For Jason Thompson

Image

13th Nov, Indiana.

Today the NBA's head office announced that the Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings have agreed on a deal that would send little used T.J Ford and Mike Dunleavy to the Kings in return of Jason Thompson and Darnell Jackson.

Many see this as a lateral move that gives both clubs something they need most now in form of high or guard skills, both coaches were very happy to be adding pieces to there team that they feel can help them further down the road.

Jason Thompson hadnt seen much court time after the off season trade that brought in J.J Hickson from the Cavs but many in Indiana believe that "JT" has the tools to play both backup forward and center and could replace aging vet Jeff Foster in the near future.

Here are some more moves from around the league.
