Indiana Pacers 68 - San Antonio Spurs 79
Duncan's 24 pushes Spurs past Pacers 79-68Jordan Player of the Game: Manu Ginobili

SAN ANTONIO, TX. October 27, 2010-- In a low scoring game, many thought it would be the Spurs taking this game between the Spurs and the Pacers. Those people weren't wrong. The Spurs held off a late 4th-quarter scare from this Danny Granger-led team, as the Spurs won thier season opener last night. This game had many step up players, even though it was very low scoring. The Spurs had three players in double figures in scoring, and those players just so happened to have a double-double performance in the process.
Manu Ginobili once again led the Spurs, scoring 22 in the opener, along with 10 boards 1 assist. But it was
Tim Duncan, the franchise's most admired player, who led the game with 24 points. Duncan also had 13 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
Antonio McDyess also was a big contributor with 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 1 assist. But a big story to this game was that
Tony Parker only had 3 points on one made basket. That three came off an Antonio McDyess inbound pass on the offensive side of the court. Tony did have 9 assists with 1 rebound and 1 steal, but it looked like he was practically a ghost. "I didn't have a career-game, that''s for sure." said Parker after the game. "But I also didn;t shoot that much. This game was all about passing for me."
After the game Spurs coach
Gregg Popovich was asked about the game, saying "This game wasn't our best. We only shot 33% tonight, and we've definetly got to improve on that. But only giving up 68 points and and limiting them to 30%, that was just outstanding. We need to work on our offense a lot, but it was only game one, so there is a lot of time to improve on that." Coach Popovich was also asked on Tony Parker's game, saying "We need to let Tony [Parker] get more chances to score. He helped us a lot on offense with the assists, and on defense too. But we need to give him more scoring opporitunities, and I take some of the blame for that."
The Indiana Pacers had a good game from
Danny Granger, as he scored 23 points on 30% shooting. He also had 8 rebounds and 2 assists on 40 minutes played.
The Spurs' next game is this Saturday as they take on the New Orleans Hornets at the AT&T Center. The Hornets lost their opener against the Milwaukee Bucks, giving up 102 points in a 102-87 rout at the New Orleans Arena. Coverage begins at 6:30 P.M. on FS Southwest.
