Prediction Game

So I was thinking about making a game as I have seen on multiple threads. This game consist of predicting the outcomes of the next FIVE games in the schedule. You can not predict the whole entire season in one posting. If you want to enter, predict the outcomes in FIVE game intervals. Winners will get a custom title on NBA2KMods.com under their name (Y)

Team News:

"Kurt Rambis Out, John Salley In"

MINNEAPOLIS -- Fresh off a 17-65 season, Timberwolve's General Manager Glen Taylor and President David Kahn were avoiding the hounding press as talks of a new head coach were trending in the Twitter-verse for Minnesota. “This isn’t the right time to make decisions,” Kahn said Wednesday morning. “We’ve been in the midst of a season and I’ve been watching every game carefully, many of the practices, and we need to talk over the next several weeks, month, who knows?"

Kahn hired Rambis in 2009 to turn around one of the league’s struggling franchises. But Rambis went 32-132 in his two seasons, including a league-worst 17-65 in his second year on the job.

“I wish it was easier to do,” Kahn said of finding the right coach, mentioning that 19 have been fired since Rambis took the job in 2009. “I feel certainly the weight of having to do this. I don’t want to say this at Kurt’s expense, but obviously we need to do it better than the last one.”

“I’m grateful for the opportunity that Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has given me,” Rambis said in a statement given to The Associated Press. “During my years working with coaches (Phil) Jackson, (Pat) Riley and (Cotton) Fitzsimmons, I learned all about the ups and downs of this sport. And today is one of the down days. But I’m confident that my work and the work of my staff with our many young players over the last two years will begin to pay off for Mr. Taylor and Timberwolves fans. Now, as important new players are added to the mix, the future of this franchise should be a bright one, and I am thankful for the chance I had, to play a part in shaping that future.”

As Rambis walked off into the sunset, the question of who will be replacing him was answer. It was announced Friday morning via the Timberwolve's website that former NBA player and Media Mogul John Salley will be the new head coach in the upcoming 2011-2012 season.

Image

At 6'11," Salley played both power forward and center for the Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, Panathinaikos BC and Los Angeles Lakers. After retirement Salley caught the acting bug and had parts in Bad Boy, Bad Boys 2, Confessions of a Shopaholic and many other films. Apart from his stint in the film industry, Salley also Co-Hosted The Best Damn Sports Show Period and, more recently, The Car Show

When asked about his new role in the Timberwolves organization, Salley stated "I won four championship rings, with three different teams, in three different decades and two different millenniums. As a player, it is the most amazing feeling. Though the most satisfaction comes as a head coach, knowing you led a bunch of these young kids to the top. Looking at this team, it's a young roster second only to the Thunder. The talent is there, though the leadership is lacking. I think I might be able to make a difference and bring a championship to the state of Minnesota."

Almost two hours as head coach and he was already on the phone making deals. He waived Forwards Nikola Pekovic and Anthony Tolliver as well as Guard Wayne Ellington which allow him to sign Veteran Forward Grant Hil from Free Agency. After dealing with the Free Agency Pool, he was on the phone with his old Teammate and current Owner of the Bobcats Michael Jordan in which he offered a trade for Forward Martell Webster and Guard Malcolm Lee for Guard Kemba Walker, Forward Dante Cummingham and a 2013 First Round Pick. The offer was accepted and before Cummingham could text his family the news, he was shipped off to a Milwaulkee as Salley traded Forwards Lazar Heyward and Dante Cummingham as well as a 2012 Second Round Pick for Forward Carlos Delfino.

"The way I see it, this team can contend for a championship NOW. We have Vet's in [Grant] Hill and [Brad] Miller, Players reaching their prime in [Michael] Beasley and [Kevin] Love as well as the young stars of tomorrow in [Ricky] Rubio and [Kemba] Walker. Now all we need to do is a couple of drills, some late night tape screenings and a couple of visits to the gym, we'll be good to go for a deep run in the playoffs." said the new Head Coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Game Recap - Game 1
Image
Image

MINNEAPOLIS -- It was a night of many firsts. The first game of the Timberwolve's 2012 Season. The first game for Coach John Salley. The first game for the young sensation Ricky Rubio as well as Kemba Walker and Jimmer Fredette. The first double-double recorded by Rubio and Love. As well as the first win for the newly formed Timberwolves as they took on the Sacramento Kings at Target Center.

The Wolves showed that youth is essential in this changing game as they took the lead in an amazing run to start the 2011-2012 Season ending the first quarter 22-45. It turned out to be a foreshadowing of the whole game as the Wolves won 125-144 while sporting a Field Goal Percentage of 62%.

The Kings, on the other hand, hung their heads and wilted as they watched shot after shot miss the mark.

Ricky Rubio played an outstanding game in which he had 32 points and 13 assist placing him as the Jordan Brand Player of the Game

Kevin Love added 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves (1-0), who certainly needed a win with a daunting road trip to Memphis, Miami and Orlando on the horizon.

"It's an attitude and the way we approach the game on the defensive end," said Love. "At every position we have guys that can play."

Jimmer Fredette also showed his skill by scoring 35 points in regulation. "He had a hot hand, you kind of just can't do anything except pass him the ball. For a rookie, he was more than happy to receive it and shoot it" said teammate John Salmons who had 24 points of his own.

Notes: The Minnesota Vikings QB Donovan McNabb was in attendance in the sold-out arena, he was seen with friends Michael Jenkins and Adrian Peterson both players for the Vikings. Also in Attendance was Minnesota Twins All-Star Catcher Joe Mauer.

The crazy thing was that I wasn't. I was running pick and rolls, playing in the post, spotting up and shooting every open look in mid-range. I think I might switch to a different slider since it just seems too unrealistic for my taste. Any suggestions? I've seen other members use Thierry's slider and I think I may just switch to his. Don't know how it will work with the UAR roster though.

Nice to see you finally found some time to play the Game.

Sliders are always difficult to figure out, sometimes it takes a while to find the wright one.

Good Luck and congratulations on your first win.

Game Recap - Game 2
Image
Image

MINNEAPOLIS -- It was neck and neck until the second half when Michael Beasley and the Minnesota Timberwolves had a sound defensive strategy and, wow, did it ever work against the sloppy Milwaukee Bucks

Beasley scored 22 points and 11 rebounds to grab his first double-double of the season in a 76-92 victory against Milwaukee on Friday night.

"We just wanted to be aggressive on the ballhandlers. Make it tough for them to bring the ball up court," said Minnesota Center Kevin Love, who had 15 points, 10 Rebounds and a three pointer in regulation to pick up his consecutive double-double to start the season. "And when their bigs got it, just try to clamp down on it as soon as possible, and hit them from different sides where they weren't looking and not expecting it."

Stephen Jackson led the Bucks with 21 points, and Ilyasova had 12 rebounds with a measly six points. Jennings scored 8 with 10 assists.

Milwaukee finished with 20 steals while shooting 30 percent from the field.

"I not happy with how I play tonight" said Ricky Rubio after his performance. "I had little control with ball, I no play well tonight but will be working to get better" Rubio managed to score 13 points and had 9 assists while also being credited with 11 turnovers for the night. This comes the game after his stellar debut against Sacramento.

Notes: The Timberwolves start their season on a winning note unlike last season in which they started 1-7. Kevin Love was one of the leagues premier players having a 53 game double-double streak last season. This season he begins with two right out the gate.

Sliders:

Use tougher ones laying elite teams, teams that have had a good last 10 games
Use easier ones when playing teams like The raptors

I'd rather just find a tough one and play with it all the way. Now I am using Thierry's sliders instead of the UAR sliders and it works amazing. Instead of having Real Player FG % I'm using Shot Stick Timing for the added challenge.

The tendencies with the players in the UAR roster is the problem though, PG's shooting every open 3pt look like if the team was full of Miller's and Allen's.

Allowing only 31 points in the scond half was the key. Now without Jackson i wonder what the Bobcats can achieve in the future. With Nene the Knicks stole another Nugget.

Bobcats still have some potential in Bismack Biyombo and Tyrus Thomas. Can't forget about Augustin also! I have a road trip vs Memphis, Miami and Orlando next :|

I'll try that out, I tried to bring down the 3pt attempts from rookies which were a problem.

I think your Wolves team will make it to the playoffs, maybe a 6th-8th seed. Maybe you can pull off an upset against the higher seeds?

Wait...why are you using the NO-OKC Hornets logo?

Wow. I hate it when TC and Nene agree to sign for like $5M. In reality, they'll be getting huge checks this offseason (probably $10-15M)
