REWRITING HISTORY - 2007/08 Season Up - TAKING OVER

Postby yeahnah on Mon Jun 13, 2011 2:37 pm

So what's happening?

I'm on school holidays and I thought of an awesome idea. What if I simmed three to five seasons of a dynasty then took over from there? So that's what I'm doing. The yearly recaps won't be spectacular, but when I get into actually playing it should get better.

Game: NBA Live 06
Console: PS2 :)
Difficulty: All-Star (adjusting for 2k11, will bump up)
Quarter Length: 7 minutes, but likely to change
Sim Quarter Length: 12 minutes
Season Length: 82 games

I will play the games I feel like playing

2006 NBA FINALS

Houston Rockets - 3

Finals MVP: Vince Carter

The finals were very close in every game, and after four games it was all even, the wins occurring for the home team in every case. Vince Carter exploded in game five and almost registered a trouble-double to give New Jersey the five point win. In game seven, Houston failed to make defensive stops and Carter lead the Nets to a five point victory. The second seed in the East somehow managed to upset the juggernaut of the season in seven games and should potentially pose a threat for the next few seasons to come.

Postby yeahnah on Mon Jun 27, 2011 11:14 am

Thanks for the comments guys. I've already simmed the third season; I'm up to the playoffs. I will play the next season, I'm just preparing a run down of every team to bring you up to speed, which should hopefully be done by tonight or tomorrow. I will also reveal the team I will be playing as and have made a few transactions with over the years.

Feel free to guess the team, if anyone gets it right I'll think of a reward. A few hints are:

- western conference
- never been in the finals
- high in the rankings of trades made since 2005/06.

Good luck!

Okay, so it's been almost a week since I said I'd get the team reviews up; and life has taken over. Hopefully I can get it up in the coming days, because I won't be able to update next week at all. I have typed most of it onto Microsoft OneNote, and is there any way to get a table from there onto NLSC? Thanks.

Re: REWRITING HISTORY - 2007/08 Season Up - TAKING OVER

Postby yeahnah on Sun Jul 03, 2011 5:41 pm

MEET THE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES STARTING FIVE

Centre - Zydraunas Ilgauskas

Picked up in a trade that saw Latrell Sprewell and Troy Hudson going over to Cleveland, Big Z has become apart of the core of the T'Wolves. Consistently posting solid numbers in a league that has been recently ruled by centers, the 7'3'' Lithuanian continually shows up 'big name' centers, famously outplaying league MVP Yao Ming in Game 2 of the 2007 Western Conference Finals. The Wolves anonymous General Manager made a steal getting Ilgauskas, as Latrell Sprewell retired that season and Troy Hudson struggles with the pace of the league. He has now been playing pro basketball for 12 seasons, and retirement may be on the big mans' mind. Will the huge man who averaged almost a double-double last season play out his career with the Wolves? Or will he be traded for some young, fresh blood?

Power Forward - Eddie Griffin

He was always expected to live behind Kevin Garnett's shadow. Before management made an impressive move. They moved KG to his natural position at the 3, and Griffin hasn't looked back. During last season, he came off the bench as Minnesota owner Glen Taylor demanded Wally Szczerbiak to start, he still posted decent numbers. Throughout this coming season, Eddie will be a starter and a key role player of the franchise. He has improved drastically over the past few years, and recently signed a 5 year extension with his team. He is expected to become the new face of the franchise when the likes of Garnett and Ilgauskas retire, and will probably do so, due to his exceptional rebounding, inside scoring and defense. He has only been apart of the league for 6 years, but plays like he has been around since Micheal Jordan's prime due to his excellent maturity and basketball I.Q

Small Forward - Kevin Garnett

All NBA First-Team? Check. All Defensive First-Team? Check. Western All-Star? Check. Front runner for the MVP for most of the season? Check. Led the eight seed in the playoffs to knock out the first? Check.
And that's just half of it. KG has been amazing for the T'Wolves recently, and an ankle injury that kept him out for most of March couldn't stop him from racking up those awards. The veteran averaged 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists in the playoffs last year, and single handedly gave the Rockets a scare in 3 out of 5 games last playoffs. When most players get older, their skills decline. Yet 13 years in the league for Garnett and he is perhaps the best he has ever been. He has been a revelation at small forward, and causes many mis-matches due to his size. His outside game is perhaps his best asset at the moment, his skills in the paint not needed as much due to the skill of Big Z and Eddie Griffin, and his defense has been amazing. He is racking up more steals than ever, and often sends back shot attempts from his smaller counterparts at small forward. He should remain as probably the greatest player to put on a Timberwolves uniform and should have another remarkable season.

Shooting Guard - B.B Carpenter

Second round of the 2006 NBA Draft. Nothing major expected to really happen. Most viewers turn their television sets off. Nobody really expects something massive to happen at this stage, no player for the future to grace the stage and shake David Stern's hand. Enter B.B Carpenter. Selected with the 43rd pick, the 6'2'' guard has become the steal of the draft. He was a contender for Rookie of the Year, if he had won he would have became the highest draft pick to do so. Dubbed by some as the next Kobe Bryant, "The Saw" remains humble, saying that he just tries to play his game and to get a win for the Wolves. He, Eddie Griffin and Rhys Boden are making a name for themselves as the new guard in the league. Called the "Small 3" due to their ages and the stature of the guards, they could be the key in the Wolves having a championship run this year.

Point Guard - Rhys Boden

Picked at number 13 in the 2006 NBA Draft, he was almost put straight in the starting spot due to Sam Cassell's retirement and the trade for Ilgauskas. He proved to everyone that he could keep up with the NBA's pace. After a massive improvement, his skills have seemed to stagger in recent times. He still has some amazing nights, and although he is just 6ft tall, he can dunk nastily in bigger player's faces. He is definitely one to watch for the future; his potential is amazing.

karlsanada10 - T-Mac is still with the Rockets. I don't have their team list but they are an awesome team, don't know how the Live sim engine made them sweep.
Bluez - it's cool thanks bro, I'll just skip that

So hopefully will start playing some games. First game is against the Clippers, where I'll probably get blown out due to the Brand-Maggette-Kaman trio. I will probably play, see how I go.

Actually, let's predict this.

PREDICTION GAME ROUND ONE

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES vs. LA CLIPPERS

Questions worth one point:

1) Where is the game being held?
2) What day will I play this game? (I'm Australian so there's tonight [Sunday], Monday and Tuesday)
3) Will I get bored during this game?
4) How many texts will I send during this game?
5) What type of cola will I drink?

Questions actually relating to the game (worth 2):

1) Who will be the top scorer for the Wolves?
2) How many assists will Rhys Boden nab?
3) Will KG play at PF at all?
4) Will Big Z record a double-double?
5) How many timeouts will the Clippers use?

The 'Mega-Question' (worth five):

How many minutes will Wally Szczerbiak to the minute play for?

Hey guys, since my 2k11 got corrupted I thought I'd revive this. I'm back off to boarding school in Sydney soon, so it will again be on hiatus however I will update A LOT in a very small amount of time.

I have decided to go back to simulating seasons, though emphasis will be placed on the Wolves.
