Ben Wallace - Back to Old 'Do?

Image

Ben Wallace finally listened to the polls and grew back his old afro.

The reporters met him with his new hairdo in a local gym.

"It's for the ladies", winked the veteran center, stroking his hair and showing off his guns. "It's also convenient - I don't have to brush my hair that often."

When asked about why he is in the gym, Wallace scowled. "It's none of your damn business," he said as he took a shot from the free-throw line.

This year, he terminated his contract with the Pistons and signed with the Celtics. Last season, he averaged 5.5 ppg, 8.7 rpg and 1.5 apg.

Well, at least Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo remained. I chose players that are fit for each position (for example, Ben Wallace is very good at rebounding, while Garnett and Perkins... not so much. Both of them averaged around 7 rebounds per game, while Big Ben averaged 8.7). Celtics will improve on defense :).

P.S.: the first game will be against Indiana Pacers

Why would you trade Ray and Nate for a back-up PG, who is 36 years old?

Well, I can't trade them back now. What's wrong with Kurt Thomas starting?

P.S.: Derek Fisher is a good PG, he contributed to the Lakers championship.

After a Dramatic Fight, Celtics Overthrow Pacers

Kurt Thomas (#40) celebrates his dunk late in the fourth quarter.

October 28, 2010

Indianapolis, IN -- Boston Celtics succeeded in capturing the game in Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis even after losing their main point guard Rajon Rondo to a leg injury. After shaky first and second quarters, they exploded in the third quarter and kept comfortably ahead in the fourth quarter. Indiana Pacers managed to reduce the lead to 7 points before the final buzzer sounded. Celtics' biggest lead of the night was 13 points late in late in third quarter (77-64); the Pacers' biggest lead was 9 points in second quarter (30-39).

"We played a poor game today," said the team's captain Rajon Rondo. "We didn't rebound the ball well and we made too many turnovers. We played like we had drunk a pint of beer before the game."

"I think we underestimated them," shared his thoughts veteran Ben Wallace. "We thought that this was a team that was going to be easily beaten and we didn't need to waste our energy on them. But they proved that they're not going to go easy on us and exploded right away in the first quarter."

Captain of the Pacers, Danny Granger, didn't like his team's attitude in the third and fourth quarter. "We were on a run in the third quarter and relaxed a bit, and suddenly, bam! they caught up with us. We can't relax in games like these, where we have a chance in winning, and blow it. It's unforgivable."

"I think we rushed our offense because we didn't have good looks at the basket," Steve Francis of Pacers told the reporters. "We just wanted to strengthen our lead so that it would become unreachable to the Celtics. We were impatient - we wanted to end the game as soon as possible and enjoy the victory. That's why we lost."

Danny Granger posted a game high of 32 points and 9 rebounds. Steve Francis had 19 points and 8 assists.

Paul Pierce trailed behind Danny Granger with 29 points and 5 boards. Shaquille O'Neal had an impressive performance with 16 points in 22 minutes, hitting all seven shot attempts including a three-pointer.

Coaches' Report

Image
Doc Rivers, Boston Celtics

I wasn't happy with our game during the first half. We were asleep on defense and our offense was messed up. Though we were able to make few impressive shots, we got caught up in trying to show off to the opponents our skills. I was dissatisfied with Paul Pierce's game tonight; he hindered our offense by taking shots himself. Even though he made a lot of them, he has to remember that this is a team effort, and we're not playing for stats, but for result. Brandon Rush and Shaquille O'Neal had pretty solid performances, hopefully they'll help us as much during our next game. During the third and fourth quarter, we finally started to move the ball around and our offense improved. When we realized by how much we're losing, we woke up defensively. Slowly, but surely, we cut into the lead and ended up winning the game. But we can't go on like this for the rest of the season. We have to start out strong and finish strong.

Jim O'Brien, Indiana Pacers

First of all, I want to congratulate Doc Rivers and his team for the victory, they fully deserved it. We played fairly during the first half. There were a few kinks here and there, but overall, we got the best of the Celtics during the first half. It was all a team effort, led by Danny (Granger) and Steve (Francis). But during the third quarter, we floundered and lost focus. The Celtics took advantage of that moment and played some heavy defense on Granger. The Celtics were scattered all over the floor and it was difficult to guard them all. We managed to reduce the deficit when I studied Rivers' tactics and counterattacked his defense. I will work with my team and get ready for the next game.

:new: Newsflash! Pierce's Odd Behavior Shocks Everyone!

Image
Paul Pierce (middle) kisses Steve Francis (#3). Pierce's teammate Rajon Rondo (#9) is looking at him in disgust.

During the Pacers - Celtics game on October 28, Pierce was acting very strangely. He began whispering to Steve Francis of Indiana Pacers and the two got close to each other. The referees were about to call a technical foul, but Pierce came up to Francis and kissed him mouth-to-mouth! This sent the fans groaning in disgust and some of them left the arena.

"This is a basketball game, for God's sake, not a place to watch gay romance," said one angry spectator.

The game was stopped and timeout taken by the Celtics. Doc Rivers could be seen yelling at Paul Pierce. He later benched him.

"This is unbelievable. To kiss your opponent -- who knows, maybe he's his boyfriend," shook Doc Rivers with disgust in his face. "Anyways, this is a game, and it's not a place to show intimacy. Actions will be taken against them both, I hope."

Steve Francis remained on court for the whole game. The two players could not be reached for comment.
