Prologue
“So the other L.A. team is again the Champions eh? I wonder what is the difference among us, we’re on the same arena, maybe some fans too, we have great playe… uhh nevermind.” Clippers owner Donald Sterling said to himself.
“We need to find another GM, I’ve had enough of this old Dunleavy, he can’t even coach the team well and I’m wondering why I signed him as our GM. Sterling dranked coffee and sat on his soft chair while browsing the web. He arrived at a basketball news site where there’s a unfamous Filipino man who are coaching a highschool basketball. “Wow being undefeated for 2 straight years is incredible! The team’s coach is a genius.” Sterling still browsed the site and read info’s about the coach.
The Filipino native is just 19 years old and a player before his younger days, a MVP in their league but broke his legs in his last game. Sterling immediately dialed Mike Dunleavy’s number in his phone. “Hey old guy what’s up?” he teased the coach. “Same as old, I’m checking upcoming free agents next season, very talented stars coming in the market and we have lots of cap space I think, if we suck again this season maybe we can take a high pick, and I’m planning to.. “Shut up Mike, I’m sick of all your plans, it’s been a long years that your sucking my team, we can’t even go to the post-season! Your getting too much money from me by holding two positions of this franchise.” Sterling scolded. “And now your telling me that we will suck again this time?” Dunleavy was shocked. “What?? So now your firing me as a GM or coach? I’m telling you I bought some good players here few years ago!”
“Oh thanks for that Mike but I’m really want to be on the Playoffs tree again, at least you’ll still be coaching the team, I’ve found a man who I think can manage the team well, he’s a Filipino native. A way too young compared to you, veryy young.” Sterling laughed quietly. “Shit! Your bringing a Filipino here, signing him as our GM? What’s on your mind? Whatever your decision is, I’m not happy with it and there’s no fucking reason I will accept that man.”
“It’s final Mike, I’m sorry, just be on the press conference when I will announce the guy.” Dunleavy turned the phone down. Just after the talk with the coach Sterling immediately e-mailed the Filipino coach and smiled. “We’re back on business bitches, we will play it loud for this season.” Sterling still daydreaming.
At the Philippines….
“Whew! That’s been a tough game for us guys, you all played great tonight and a job well done, we will be keeping this ‘till the end we will remain undefeated.”
Being a 19 year old coach is hard for him, having just one leg literally is not keeping out from his dreams. Justine Crewhead played highschool basketball at the age of 14 and immediately owned a stardom, being a two-time MVP at his highschool career. But at his last game as a senior, he fell hard after his dunk and broke his legs. And didn’t play or return to basketball no more. After two years he returned to his school and volunteered to coach the basketball team even with no salaries. And now he’s coaching a team that’s been undefeated for two straight season and by reason this make him a really famous guy over the world.
Crewhead lied down to his bed and was about to sleep. He got up for a while and checked his mails. “Whoa! There’s been a lot of messages here.” He browsed randomly his mails and been mysteriously caught by this one particular message. “Donald Sterling?? Who is he? General Manager? Is this a prank or what?” Crewhead opened a browser and begin to searh Donald’s name. “Oh god! Owner?? Los Angeles Clippers? Shit, that’s an NBA franchise.” Justine’s eyes got big. “Is this really a prank? I’ll just reply to see if this is real.” Crewhead replied to Sterling’s message gave his digits, after a week. “Hello? Who’s this please? Crewhead asked after receiving a anonymous call. “This is Donald Sterling, I’ve made your bookings, ticket planes and reservations, by the day after the tomorrow, you’ll be going here in L.A. and meet me up in my office, you’ll gonna be our GM, no further talk, bye” Sterling utterly talked and shut the phone down.
“What the… He’s a crazy guy, he don’t even let me talk or ask questions.” After then he checked his mails again and by his surprised there really is a message that been sent to him informing he had his reservation ticket to L.A. “So this is really is it, NBA is my dream and now I will have the chance to manage a franchise. But what will happen in my team now that I’m leaving for the biggest league in the world?” Crewhead asked himself.
After a week..
“I’m representing you our new General Manager, Justine Crewhead.” Donald introduced him to the press. “We will be hoping that the Clippers will be on the post-season this year by the help of our young manager.” There are some murmurings around the conference room criticizing Justine. Mike Dunleavy didn’t attend the conference because there’s a news bloated he suffered loose bowel movement that day.
“I hope my brother is doing now a good job leading the team. Ahh.. I’m missing my players, well I’m here in the NBA, it’s official for now I’m the Clippers General Manager.” Justine smiled. “Let’s do this now.”
