Game: NBA Live 10 (XBOX 360)
Played Quarter Length: 10 min
SIM Quarter Lenght: 12 min
Difficulty: Superstar (with sliders slightly in my favour for rebounding)

Sadly I am unable to include pictures or videos from the game :(, hopefully my dynasty can be compelling if it manages to attract readers however.

Jonny Schofield is a 40 year old multi millionaire from Manchester, England. Having developed an interest in NBA basketball as a teenager he long dreamed of involvement in the NBA but with no real basketball skill he dismissed it as a possibility, nontheless he remained an avid fan of the game regularly visiting the US and attending games. As his business profile and wealth grew Schofield began to look into the possibility of ownership of an NBA franchise and, at age 40, he sold off his entire business empire for a combined sum of $800M and became majority owner of the Chicago Bulls, a team he had followed since 1984 after the drafting of a certain Mr Michael Jordan from the university of North Carolina. It is Schofield's greatest wish to see the Bulls return to the glory days of the Jordan era and bring another NBA championship to the United Center...

New Bulls owner Brit Jonny Schofield sets out plans

Image Image

In a press release today the new Chicago Bulls owner, British Multi-Millionaire Jonny Schofield, has set out his plans for the Bulls to return to the dominant position they used to enjoy in the NBA. He set out his 6 point plan in a pamphlet which was circulated around the entire chicago bulls franchise, The Bulls plans are in no way a secret and we at ESPN news have been able to get our hands on a copy of the pamphlet and can reveal the plan set out by the new majority owner...

Short Term

1 - Free up cap space for 2010 free agency to be able to be in the position to attract a star player to lead the franchise to success.
2 - Secure as many 2010 1st round draft picks as possible to secure young talent to improve the future potential success of the franchise.
3 - Create a positive ethos throughout the franchise, from backroom staff to players, aimed at achieveing success at all levels.

Medium Term

4 - Win an NBA championship in the next 3 seasons.

Long Term

5 - Become the Dominant team in the eastern conference (Win it more times than any other team in the 2010s)

6 - Become a perennial championship contender (4 + finals appearances in the 2010s)

These elaborate plans set out by the Bulls new owner have recieved mixed reviews from the media, many discard them as being overexaggerated expectations and unrealistic objectives however there are some who are open to the idea of the bulls being able to regain their former prominence. One thing is for sure, it's going to be an interesting few years for followers of the Chicago Bulls...

Season Preview - 2009-2010

The Bulls

Despite the outlandish plans laid out at the start of this season by their new owner, Jonny Schofield has admitted that 09/10 is to be a rebuilding year for the Bulls, their aims will be more geared towards freeing up cap space than their win-loss record. The Bulls clearly have one eye firmly fixed on the possibly historic free agency period that will commence on July 1st, in which free agents such as Lebron James and Dwyane Wade hit the open market. Nevertheless with a roster including young talent such as Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas, no-one is ruling out a playoff appearance for the Bulls. However, that roster may be subject to much change as the Bulls attempt to free up cap space and acquire draft picks throughout the season.

The NBA

Having finally regained their position as NBA champions with a 4-1 finals victory over the Magic in 2009, ending a Title-less run of 6 seasons, the Lakers are being touted by many as favourites to repeat, thanks in part to the addition of Ron Artest at small forward. They will however, face stiff competition in the west from the likes of the Nuggets, Suns and Spurs. Looking eastwards, the Cavaliers and Magic seem likely conference finals opponents, as Cleveland seeks the best record in the NBA for the second consecutive season and the Magic look to go one better than last year, both teams having made big acqusitions in the offseason bringing in Shaquille O'Neal and Vince Carter respectively.
Attention will also be on the Clippers and Blake Griffin, who was selected with the No 1 overall pick in the 2009 draft and is the early favourite for Rookie of the Year, he will face stiff competition from the likes of Stephen Curry of the Warriors however.

2009-2010 - First 10 game report

The first 10 games of the season saw the Bulls go 6-4, the six wins came in the form of two 3 game win streaks which formed a period of 6 wins in 7 following a winless first 3 games for Chicago, the most notable victory coming at Cleveland where a buzzer beating mid range shot from Derrick rose gave the Bulls a dramatic 81-80 victory over one of the leagues best teams.

Games 1 - 10 Highs:

Points: Derrick Rose @ Cleveland - 37, FG 13/24, 3PT 2/7, FT 9/10
Rebounds: Joakim Noah @ Sacramento - 14, 3 Offensive
Assists: Derrick Rose v Denver - 11
Performance: Derrick Rose @ Cleveland - 37 pts FG 13/24, 3 Rebounds, 4 Assists, game-winning shot

Leaders after 10 games:

PPG: Derrick Rose - 14.4
RPG: Joakim Noah - 7.9
APG: Derrick Rose - 5.2
BPG: Joakim Noah - 1.7
SPG: Derrick Rose and Christian Eyenga - 1.1
FG%: Jannero Pargo - 61.7%
3 PT%: Brad Miller - 54.5%
FT%: Christian Eyenga - 100%
Mins: Joakim Noah - 307

Top performer through 10 games:

Derrick Rose - MPG 25.8, PPG 14.4, RPG 1.4, APG 5.2, SPG 1.1, FG% 40.3, 3PT% 25.0 - Hitting the game winner against the Cavs along with leading the team in points and assists means D-Rose has been the most impressive player through 10 games. It is impossible to use last years stats as a basis for comparison due to the sim stats on NBA Live being significantly lower than those that would be seen in real life, therefore it is inevitable that Rose's stats are lower than what he achieved in his rookie year.

One to watch:

Christian Eyenga - MPG 20.1, PPG 5.9, RPG 2.6, APG 1.1, SPG 1.1, FG% 37.0, 3PT% 30.4 FT% 100.0 - The 30th pick in the 2009 NBA draft by Cleveland was waived by the Cavaliers and signed to a two year minimum salary deal by the Bulls, the 20 year old has come up with some decent bench production and show good skills on defence, co-leading the team in steals from the bench, he had a 15 point outburst from the bench in the win against Charlotte where he went 3 for 4 from the three point line.

I hope you hang on to Tyrus Thomas. Good luck.

Cheers mate! I imagine I will re-sign him because he is young, unless he demands too high of a salary

Iverson proving he is 'The Answer' to LA's injury woes

Image Image

When the Clippers signed Allen Iverson to a 1 year mid level exception deal 4 games into their NBA season, they envisioned his role to be more of an instant offence off the bench role, however, with the injuries to Baron Davis and Marcus Camby, the Clippers have been forced to re-jig their roster and the 2001 MVP has found himself starting at shooting guard and 13th in the league for scoring through 13 Clippers games, Iverson having played 9 of them, starting all six since Marcus Camby was sidelined with a sprained knee. The injuries to Camby and Baron Davis, who is expected to miss at least 2 months with a torn achilles tendon, have led to the clippers assuming a 3 guard look, with Eric Gordon filling in at small forward after Rookie Blacke Griffin moved up to the 4 to replace Camby, this movement created a gap at 2 guard and Iverson moved quickly to make the position his own, averaging 20.7 points through his first 9 games as a clipper and shooting an above average by his standards 40.6% from beyond the arc. If this good form continues it could lead to the 34-year-old solidifying his place in the starting 5 for the rest of the season, one in which the Clippers will be looking to improve on their poor 19-63 08-09 record.

2009-2010 - Games 11-20 report

Games 11 through 20 saw the Bulls maintain their .500+ start to the season by going 5-5, meaning their record is now 11-9 with just under a quarter of the regular season gone. The standout game of this period definately being the crazy game at the Pepsi center, on a normal night 141 points is usually enough to see a team to victory, but for the Bulls, it was still 16 short against the Nuggets! For the Bulls the main man was again D-Rose, the second year man dropping 34 points in addition to 10 dimes on the night, whats more he was ably assisted by Deng and Salmons who scored 26 and 28 respectively and Joakim Noah who pulled down 13 boards. The Nuggets however, were even better, Billups and Smith scored 41 points apeice, going a combined 15/23 from downtown! In addition to this Billups dished 16 assists to cap a monster night for the 33 year old guard, who was showing no signs of slowing down at all.

Games 11 - 20 Highs:

Points: Derrick Rose @ Denver - 34, FG 15/30, 3PT 3/7
Rebounds: Joakim Noah @ Denver - 13, 4 Offensive
Assists: Derrick Rose @ Portland - 13
Performance: Derrick Rose @ Denver - 34 pts FG 15/30, 10 assists

Leaders after 20 games:

PPG: Derrick Rose - 15.4
RPG: Joakim Noah - 7.8
APG: Derrick Rose - 6.4
BPG: Joakim Noah - 1.5
SPG: Christian Eyenga - 1.1
FG%: Jannero Pargo - 54.7%
3 PT%: James Johnson - 57.1%
FT%: John Salmons - 92.2%
Mins: Joakim Noah 591

Top performer through 20 games:

- Derrick Rose - MPG 27.6, PPG 15.4, RPG 1.3, APG 6.4, SPG 1.0, FG% 43.2, 3PT% 24.4 - Staying as the team leader in points and assists as he most likely will all season means the 2008 1st overall pick remain the Bulls top performer, running the club on a nightly basis seems to suit the young point guard just fine as he sets up team mates just as well as he scores, perhaps one weakness of his is his 3 point percentage, although improved slightly from last year pehaps this is an area in which Rose can improve to become an even more well rounded player.

One to watch:

- Brad Miller - MPG 21.5, PPG 7.7, RPG 4.8, APG 2.0, BPG 1.3, FG% 54.1, 3PT% 51.4 - The 11 year veteran provides good back-up nightly for the Bulls, contributing in many areas, perhaps most notably with his 3 point shooting, shooting a fantastic 51.4% from downtown through 20 games.

December already a big month for trades

Image Image Image Image

Two huge trades were completed in the first week of december as 3 all star power forwards found new homes. Phoenix's want away big man Amare' Stoudemire found a new home in Orlando, as he and Alexsander Pavlovic were traded to the Magic in exchange for shooting big man Rashard Lewis, this trade isnt seen to have much benefit for either team from the outset, as two similarly rated big men are exchanged, furthermore it is hard to see pavlovic getting much playing time with the likes of Carter, Pietrus and Reddick already in Orlando.

Another big deal saw the Lakers make the questionable move of sending Lamar Odom and Adam Morrison to Philadelphia in exchange for Elton Brand and his large contract, the sixers front office must have been pinching themselves when LA agreed to the deal, which will free up around $5 million in cap room come the end of the season as it seems unlikely morrison will be retained, furthermore most pundits would agree that they have gained Odom by trading him for a worse player in Brand, who will now surely be coming of the bench in LA whereas Odom will be promoted to starter in Philly.

First of all, welcome to the Forum! Great to have such an enthusiastic poster join our ranks. :) Second, great job so far with the write-ups, loving the detail you're going into. Sounds like you've had some exciting games so far with a gamewinner in Cleveland and a wild shootout in Denver. Elsewhere in the league, Orlando's struggles are surprising.

Hey and thanks alot i have enjoyed doing it was particularly inspired by Bareligionau's nuggets dynasty and it made me want to do my own, just wish i could upload pictures and videos also, yeah i was quite pleased when i first looked around the league that the standings were mostly realistic, annoys me abit when you see for example the lakers with their current roster under .500 because that just wouldnt happen, Orlando surprised me also, I wonder if the Stoudemire-Lewis trade will change things for them.

Nice looking dynasty so far mate. Nice team choice and you're a brave person for playing NBA Live 10 on Superstar... something I'm not willing to do yet (or possibly ever)

I hope you can stick with it; the section always needs more enthusiastic posters... and thanks for the mention as well. It's always nice to hear people get inspired by your work :D

Cheers mate, I started to win every game on All-Star so moved up, however I do have the sliders adjusted a bit to help me for rebounding as i find it difficult in Live 10, nevertheless if i'm not concentrating fully i still get dominated on the boards, hope i can keep my dynasty going at least half as long as you Nuggets one!! haha

gutsy move be LAL getting rid of their Jack-of-all-trades-Master-of-none SF for a more traditional big; D-Ho and Stat? i'm trying to think of their past equivalent;i guess Diesel & Zo in their prime? that's scary...

In terms of "star power", I'd throw the duo of Duncan and Robinson out there, though obviously the styles aren't quite the same.

Hmmm yeah well it only happened a few days ago on the game so I guess Orlando thought they needed to change things, not sure if Live 10 thinks like that though lol

2009-2010 - Games 21-30 report

The Bulls went 6-4 in this 10 game stretch and are currently sitting on a 4 game win streak, 8 of the games were at the United center as the Bulls schedule evened up after some gruelling road trips in the first part of the season. There was no stand out game in this 10 but some notable individual performances nontheless, Stephen Jackson had a monster game for Golden State against the Bulls scoring 40 pts and adding 12 rebounds and the very next game Ray allen dropped 40 on the Bulls also, Chicago losing these two games. As things picked up in the homestand the Bulls beat LA despite Kobe's 31 that included 9 3 pointers. In the last game of this 10 that extended the Bulls win streak to 4, Christian Eyenga was perfect from both the field and the free throw line as he added 18 from the bench in the win at the palace against Detroit. More about Eyenga to come...
