Knicks Draft Andy Rautins and Landry Fields in Second Round
New York Knickerbockers have drafted Andy Rautins from Syracuse University with the 38th overall selection and Landry Fields from Stanford University with the 39th overall selection in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft.
Rautins, 6-4, 194-pounds, played four seasons for the Orange and averaged 12.1 points and 4.9 assists as a senior in 2009-10. He finished his collegiate career ranked second on the school’s all-time three-point field goals made (282) and attempted (754) lists and became the 53rd Syracuse player to score at least 1,000 points (1,121).
Fields, 6-7, 210-pounds, played four seasons for the Cardinals and averaged 22.0 points and 8.8 points as a senior in 2009-10. As All-Pac 10 First Team and Pac-10 All-Academic First Team selections, the Long Beach, CA native led the Pac-10 and finished eighth in the nation in scoring.
Knicks Acquire Draft Rights to Jerome Jordan
New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that the team has acquired the draft rights to center Jerome Jordan from Milwaukee in exchange for cash considerations. Jordan was selected by Milwaukee in the second round (44th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft. He is expected to play for the team’s entry in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, NV. Per team policy, the financial terms were not disclosed.
Jordan, 7-0, 253-pounds, played four seasons at the University of Tulsa, averaging 11.3 points on .567 shooting from the field, and 7.4 rebounds and 2.50 blocks in 133 games (119 starts). He was selected to the Conference USA All-Defensive Team each of the last three seasons and earned Second Team All-Conference USA honors as a senior after averaging 15.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.34 blocks in 35 games (all starts). He is the only player in Conference USA history to record at least 800 rebounds and 300 blocks, and is the all-time Conference USA and Tulsa leader in blocked shots. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the United States as a high school junior.
Knicks to Sign Five-Time All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire
New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that five-time NBA All-Star forward Amar’e Stoudemire has agreed to terms with the team. As per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
“When I arrived here in New York, our goal was to create enough flexibility to sign the elite players in our league that would enable us to build a championship caliber team,” Walsh said. “Signing Amar’e represents the first step in that process. Amar’e gives us one of the premiere frontcourt players in the league whose numerous abilities and familiarity with Mike’s system make him an outstanding fit for us.”
Stoudemire, 6-10, 249-pounds, has career averages of 21.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.40 blocks and 34.3 minutes in 516 career games (499 starts) in eight NBA seasons with the Phoenix Suns. The Lake Wales, FL-native has been named an NBA All-Star five times and holds playoff career averages of 24.2 points and 9.2 rebounds in 52 playoff games (all starts). Selected by Phoenix with the ninth overall selection in the 2002 NBA Draft, Stoudemire was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2003 and has been named All-NBA four times, including a first team All-NBA selection in 2007.
“Amar’e is one of the most talented players I have ever worked with and I’m excited to welcome him to New York,” Knicks Head Coach Mike D’Antoni said. “He has thrived in our system and will be a great addition to our team.”
In 2009-10, Stoudemire started all 82 regular season games and averaged 23.1 points, 8.9 points and 34.6 minutes while shooting 55.7-percent from the floor in earning All-NBA Second Team honors. Stoudemire finished the season ranked 10th in the NBA in scoring and seventh in the league in field goal percentage and led the Suns to the Western Conference Finals.
Knicks Acquire Randolph, Azubuike & Turiaf
David Lee Traded to Golden State WarriorsNew York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that the team has acquired forward Anthony Randolph, swingman Kelenna Azubuike, forward/center Ronny Turiaf and a 2012 second round draft pick from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for forward David Lee, via sign-and-trade.
“This trade gives us an outstanding young frontcourt talent in Anthony, and along with Kelenna and Ronny, we feel they will all be key contributors to our team,” Walsh said. “David Lee developed into an All-Star last season in New York and we wish him continued success in Golden State.”
Randolph, 6-10, 210-pounds, has career averages of 9.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 19.6 minutes in 96 career games (30 starts) in two NBA seasons with Golden State. The Pasadena, CA-native was drafted following his freshman year at Louisiana State University by the Warriors with the 14th overall selection in the 2008 NBA Draft. The 21-year-old Randolph averaged 11.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 22.7 minutes in 33 games (eight starts) during the 2009-10 season, but missed the final 47 games of the season with a left ankle injury.
“We have acquired three players that we have liked for a long time that will be excellent fits in our system,” said Knicks Head Coach Mike D’Antoni. “I enjoyed seeing David develop into an All-Star during my two seasons with him and I hope this trade will provide him with a good opportunity to build on what he started in New York.”
Azubuike, 6-5, 220-pounds, has career averages of 10.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 24.4 minutes in 205 career games (84 starts) in four NBA seasons with Golden State. The Tulsa, OK-native went undrafted out of the University of Kentucky and signed as a free agent with the Warriors on Jan. 2, 2007 out of the NBA Development League. Azubuike enjoyed his best NBA season in 2008-09, averaging career highs of 14.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in 74 games (51 starts). In 2009-10, Azubuike averaged 13.9 points and 4.6 rebounds over the first nine games of the season before suffering a torn left patellar tendon that sidelined him the final 73 games of the season.
Turiaf, 6-10, 250-pounds, has career averages of 5.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 17.9 minutes in 294 career games (69 starts) in five NBA seasons with the L.A. Lakers and Golden State. The Martinique-native was drafted by the Lakers in the second round (37th overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft and signed with Golden State as a free agent prior to the 2008-09 season. In 2009-10, Turiaf averaged 4.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 20.8 minutes in 42 games (20 starts).
Lee, 6-9, 250-pounds, was drafted by New York with the 30th overall selection in the 2005 NBA Draft and averaged 13.0 points and 9.6 rebounds in 368 career games (210 starts) over five seasons with the Knicks. The St. Louis, MO-native enjoyed his best NBA season in 2009-10, averaging career-highs of 20.9 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, while also earning his first NBA All-Star selection.
Raymond Felton signs for the KnicksPoint guard Raymond Felton's contract figures, finalized today, is two years, $15.8M, according to a source.
There may be a third-year team option but that has yet to be negotiated upon. The Knicks chose Felton partly because he was willing to sign for two years and give the Knicks 2012 flexibility. Donnie Walsh confirmed the agreement is in place.
Felton and the three Golden Staters from the David Lee sign-and-trade - Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf and Kelanna Azubuike - will be introduced at a press conference Monday in Greenburg's practice facility.
Knicks to sign Timofey MozgovRussian center Timofey Mozgov will sign a three year, 9.7 million dollar contract with the New York Knicks. Knicks will pay Khimki 500k USD.

I love this Knicks team now. Meal Ticket, and the fact that they are a 6-8 seed team makes them a great choice. Hope this one can last.
Mon Jul 12, 2010 5:48 am
Yep, I also really like this Knicks roster.
Good luck man.

interesting move relegating Meal Ticket to the bench and starting Ronnie, but seems to have worked out for you (this game anyway)... nice start regardless

; btw, something's up with your shot attempt totals
FG Made-Attempted NYK 34-37 MIN 33-88

HaHa yeah shot the lights out
Its really "34-97" cheers for noticing
I was trying to keep it realistic as Amare has said in really life that he doesnt want to play center and i kind of like the fire power off the bench that he can bring.

Superb game by STAT against the Wolves, but then Rondo killed you. Loved the presentation when you used the Bucks and I still do, props for that
Mon Jul 19, 2010 3:56 am
Damn, Pierce and Ray-Ray couldn't miss. Great debut from Randolph though.
Mon Jul 19, 2010 4:24 am
Cool recap. Pierce, Ray and Rondo took a dump on you. Who's that scary guy wearing #5?
Mon Jul 19, 2010 11:48 am
Tough, but reasonable loss. I don't think that you're ready to matchup with the Celtics just yet, but it's good to see that your'e starting to shoot some threes with Gallo.

I noticed that he didn't even attempt one in Minnesota.
Mon Jul 19, 2010 1:26 pm
The Knicks are now actually a pretty appealing team. I like your lineup. Deffinately got to increase those 3pt attempts with Gallo though!! Loving the boxscore presentation too, what is the site again for that?
