The Manhattan Hoosiers

In a surprising move, the NBA office founded a new team today. The new franchise will be located in Manhattan, so the Hoosiers, how they will be called, will be the first NBA franchise in a town district. Despite rumors about the Nets moving to Brooklyn, the office now took the chance and made a historical move.
In the press conference, new owner Bill Gates appointed Alex Rodriguez, a German with hispanic roots, as General Manager. Rodriguez is not known yet in the league, but Gates is sure that "he is one of a kind".
The team will pick its players in a kind of an expansion draft out of the Free Agent pool and will start right away from the season 2009/10. GM Rodriguez announced that this "is a project", and so they will "hand over many wins". Neverthelesss he is content, that the concept will pay out and show improvement.
Commisioner David Stern said, “that we all know Manhattan is a place to be. I think, this will be a great chance for us all!”
The franchise’s roster will be announced in the next few days, according to team owner Gates.

Postby el stevo on Mon Jul 05, 2010 6:01 am

HOOSIERS ROSTER ANNOUNCED!

Manhattan Hoosiers team owner Bill Gates and GM Alex Rodriguez today announced the roster of their new team in the team's office in downtown Manhattan.
There are some must-picks, but also some surprises in the Hoosiers' team. After signing firstly veterans Stephon Marbury, the enfant terrible of the current NBA, Raja Bell, impressive defender with a wide range and sharp-shooter Wally Sczcerbiak, who is estimated to be the Hoosiers' top scorer, Gates and Rodriguez surprised also many experts by adding merely unknown players like Ronald Dupree and Jared Jordan to the team.

Code: Select all
Manhattan Hoosiers Roster 2009/10

Name                  Pos  Age  College
------------------------------------------------------
Hilton Armstrong      C    24   Connecticut
Mark Blount           C    33   Pittsburgh

Sean Williams         PF   23   Boston College
Pops Mensah-Bonsu     PF   26   George Washington
Stromile Swift        PF   29   Louisiana State
Wally Sczcerbiak      SF   32   Miami - Ohio

Jared Jordan          PG   25   Marist

All players have been signed to 1-yr-contracts. Nevertheless, it is not the team's plan to sign a lot of free agent stars in the "Summer of 2010", it wants to build up a franchise with young rookies!

Just asking, is Alex Rodriguez your real name, or you just really like baseball?

Nah, it's my real name ;)

That will take it's time, but however the team is that bad, the 2010 draft will bring improvement :D

Yeah, that's a deep rotation. In fact, I did not picked them to get a deep rotation, just got along with the best player available that time^^
On the other side is my C-rotation as flat as a pizza. Got to know that in the first games, updates will come soon.

Do you have any trades in mind? It might be hard since you don't have many quality players. You can try and get a decent young player that you can build around, until John Wall arrives. :P

Actually, not really. I hope to resign with the younger players. Maybe I'll trade some bench-warmers for picks. We'll see how that will work.

They will. We just have to wait.

Had issues with the internet-connection yesterday, today evening (Germany time) first recap will be posted!^^

NEW YORK. In the franchise's first game ever, the Manhattan Hoosiers lost against the rebuilding Minnesota Timberwolves. Right off the start, the new team had its problems in the post where neither Sean Williams nor Hilton Armstrong could effectively defend the inside-skilled Al Jefferson. After 2 minutes, the Wolves were off to a quick 8-0 run. The Hoosiers needed to find their consistency and Stephon Marbury sealed with a free throw the franchise's first point in the team history. A quick steal that lead to a fast break finished by Sean Williams gave hope to home fans, but with 2 buckets from Corey Brewer the Timberwolves managed to secure their first-quarter-lead.
This type of game continued in the second quarter, as the Wolves controlled the Hoosiers to slow set play in the halfcourt while getting many steals to build their lead. Again Al Jefferson dominated in the paint.

After half-time, it seemed that the Hoosiers could work their way back into the game, as Wally Sczcerbiak aka. "Wally World" heated up and scored 8 Hoosiers' points in a row. Nontheless, the Wolves controlled the pace of the game by using the matchup Brewer – Sczcerbiak. The differences in the quality of both opponents became obvious in that time.
Late in the fourth, the Hoosiers lost entirely their rhythm and had no to stop Ramon Sessions, who scored 11 points in 3 minutes. After the game, Coach Rodriguez said, that "we played a fairly good first game and I see very much room to improve, good chances are there for the future!"

JORDAN BRAND PLAYER OF THE GAME: Al Jefferson (MIN) - 13 P, 9 R, 1 B, 5-7 FG
HOOSIER PLAYER OF THE GAME: Wally Szczerbiak - 14 P, 5 R, 2 S, 7-14 FG
HOOSIER CINDERELLA MAN OF THE GAME: Stephon Marbury - 3 P, 8 A, 1-6 FG, no defense on Sessions

PRESS CONFERENCE wrote:STEPHON MARBURY: "I've got 99 problems, but the ain't one!" - Asked on defending Ramon Sessions
RAJA BELL: "Some fell, some not. Need to work on that." - Asked on his shooting performance (4-15 FG)

SACARAMENTO. In a horryfing blowout, the Hoosiers also lost their second NBA game when they fell to the Sacramento Kings. Throughtout the game, they had no chance to stop supreme rookie Tyreke Evans, who was on fire.
Right off from the start, the Kings cruised to a good lead, as they were quickly away with 10. Evans with a quick three-ball and Spencer Hawes from the inside managed to build out the lead fort he Kings. In the second quarter, it got even worse for Manhattan as they suffered from a great shooting lack. All over the game, the old starters on the Guard spot also had their problems to stop Tyreke Evans, who scored with ease and in total put 27 points on the scoreboard. On the other side, they were too less resistance from the Hoosiers who were not able to slow the Kings‘ fastbreaks down. Team owner Bill Gates expressed his thoughts about the performance of his team in the game by cursing and also Coach/GM Alex Rodriguez was „very disappointed about the performance of my team today.

Whats up with those incredibly low scores. You might want to bump up the minutes. You also seem to be struggling to shoot

megarover, yes, shooting is the major concern in the moment. With the minutes I'm looking to do something.

EDIT:
OMFG. Seems like someone overwrote the save.
Trying to restore it, but that will take it's time.
