June 24th was a huge and a suprising day for the Utah fans. The Jazz's front office made some decisions that may confirm Carlos Boozer will opt out of his contract. First , the long time Jazz player Andrei Kirilenko and Kosta Koufos to the Sacramento Kings for the fifth overall pick and a suprising trade, Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for third overall pick, which gave t Utah three picks in the first round(3rd, 5th and 25th).

Image

The draft began and with the first pick of the draft, the Washington Wizards took Derrick Favor from Georgia Tech. Next the Rockets selected John Wall and it was Utah Jazz turn. The front office had a hard decision to make- Even Turner or Wesley Johnson? The Utah Jazz didn't expect that Turner would be available at the third and their work with Johnson put a simle on Kevin O'Connor so they made the safe choice selecting Wesley Johnson.

Image

The Knicks didn't let go this opportunity and they selected Evan Turner and once again it was Jazz's turn. With the possibility of Carlos Boozer not being in Utah next season, the front office selected a big man with a court vision and the passing ability of a guard, Greg Monroe.

The Jazz fans waited till the 25th pick of the first and second round to see more two rookies for their team, Paul George and Dwayne collins Collins.

Press Conference

"It was a huge night for us"- said Kevin O'Connor -"We selected the players that would fit better with our team. Wes, Greg, Paul and Dwayne were those players"-Then Kevin was asked about not selecting Evan Turner- "Evan just wasn't the right pick for this team despite his skills, I wish him the best for his carrer and I know that he will become a great player"-to end the conference Kevin was asked CarlosBoozer situation-"In the last few years he became one of the faces of this franchise and for that, we will respect any decision Carlos takes,"

It was no suprise when Carlos decided to test free agency, but no one expected Kyle and Wesley would follow the same path. With the need a of a shooting guard, the top name of the free angency lista was the perfect fit-Joe Johnson. The Jazz started the negotions with Johnson but he decided that Chicago was the place he wanted to be. They didn't get Joe but they got a solid guard, Randy Foye

"He's the solid shooting guard we needed" -said Coch Jerry Sloan-" He can play in both guard positions, he can penatrate the defense and he has a good shooting range."-Coach Sloan was asked if he would prefer coaching Joe Johnson-"Both are great player, the difference is that Randy is developing his game, but we wouldn't let go the opportunity to try bring Joe to Utah. It didn't work out and we are happy with Randy."

Then Utah was looking for a Sixth Man and a backup for Greg Monroe . Lucky for them, they found both needs in one player,Louis Amundson. The last player Jazz wanted to sign was a undrafted point guard, Sherron Collins.

"Louis is the solid bench player we needed, he can rebound, do the dirty work and if the team needs, he can score"-said Coach Sloan who was aked then the risk of signing Sherron Collins do to his weight problems-" That didn't seem a problem when he led Kansas to the NCAA Championship. He agreed with us that he would end his weight problem during the summer and we are willing to give him a chance. Behind John Wall, for me he was the best point guard available in the draft but since nobody grabbed the opportunity we did and he is comminted to prove he can be a great NBA player."

After Training Camps and Pre Season, the 2010-2011 NBA began with a rivalry, the Denver Nuggets against the Utah Jazz. The last time these two teams faced each other Deron Williams and the Jazz eliminated the Nuggets in the first round of playoffs. The first half was a real fight between the two franshises but it wasn't a good star for Deron Williams with two early fouls and 5 shots missed. Despite a bad shooting performance of D-Will, the other guard, Randy Foye was on fire all game finishing the half with 18 points. The third quarter was were Foye and the Jazz outscored Denver making 30 points and Denver finished the quarter with 19 points.

The fourth quarter Carmelo Anthony brought the Nuggets back to the game, but the rookies, Greg Monroe and Wesley Johnson put Utah on their back and to stay in the lead. Greg finished the game with 24 points ,11 rebounds and 3 blocks, the first double-double of his career and Wes finished with 17 points. Randy Foye lead the team in scoring with 29 points hitting some big shots in the fourth quarter but when it comes to big shots the Nuggets came up up strong hitting four three point shootings in a row giving Denver 93 points. Utah had a change to win but Deron Williams wasn't on his night missing the shot, he finished with 8 points and 19 assists.

"Their clutch perfomce was better then our"-said Coach Sloan-"Those 12 points in row were our defeat, their will to win was their key"- Coach Sloan was then asked about about Foye and Greg performances-" They kept us in the game till the last second, Foye missed only four shots of eighteen, he proved he can be a big part of this team. Greg was the second playmaker in court, his court vision is the best part of his game,if he cloudn't make the shot he would pass the ball to our open man, he was really impressive."-then when he was asked about the bad performance of Deron Williams he laugh and said-"He made 19 assist, you think that's bad? All the shots he missed were good shots, he just wasn't on his day but as a leader and a point guard he did what he was supposed to do, finding good shots for his teammates

interesting moves so far and tough decision picking between ET and Wes Johnson; just too bad it came at the expense of losing Milsap

Nice one on getting Johnson. I've only played a few games to test my roster out since I haven't started my season yet, but Johnson has been a beast for me. He can be a streaky shooter at times but can sure player hard. He is also a terrific defender, shuts down whoever he goes up against every game so far. Good luck. (Y)

Pretty sure Turner has more potential, but then again i'm a huge fan of Wes Johnson, I mean he's a highlight reel waiting to happen. haha
I'm a Georgetown fan so good job with Monroe ;)

I prefer Wes but yeah, Turner has more potential and i choose monroe because I like his game, Cousins and Favors are good too but Greag as a court vision that's rare in a power foward , even if Favors was available I would still go with Monroe.
