09-10 Season in Review

Total failure - these could be the best words to describe 76ers 09-10 season. They finished tied with Memphis Grizzlies for the worst record in the league(9-20) and they were unlucky in draft lottery also - only 5th pick in first round of 2010 NBA draft. It wasn't surprise when 76ers GM Ed Stefanski annouced that Eddie Jordan is fired as the head coach of Philadelphia 76ers. But the fans sees a light at the end of the tunnel. Philadelphia can still select good player with their 5th pick and the team is full of young talent.

James leads Cavaliers to first ever NBA championship



After dominating in regular season and playoffs, Cleveland Cavaliers faced defending NBA champions Los Angeles Lakers in NBA finals. It was physical series from start to finish, but at the end of the day King James was just too good for defending champs. In a clinching game 6, LeBron put some serious numbers - 37pts + 12 rebs + 9 assists and 4 blocks. LeBron James earned two MVP's this season, he was a monster in regular season, posting averages of 27,9 points per game, 8,2 rebounds and 8,1 assists. After such dominating performance and his first NBA title, it wasn't surprise when LeBron annouced that he is staying in Cleveland for the next 6 years.

Iverson won't return in Philadelphia



After Allen Iverson's worst season of his long career, Philadelphia 76ers and future hall of famer decided to part ways. Iverson is now free agent and willing to sign another NBA contract. "People doesn't know that I'm still capable of playing in high level. I haven't lost a step. It was the coach that didn't knew how to use my skills. I'm happy that the fans in Philly still supported me. It means a lot."

Next coach?

After Eddie Jordan is fired, there are several candidates who could coach the next 76ers team. O'Brian, Dunleavy, Hollins - these are the favorites. Ed Stefanski will name the next coach soon.

Jim O'Brian is New Head Coach for 76ers



After disscusions with several coaches, GM Ed Stefanski offered 2 year deal to former Indiana Pacers coach Jim O'Brian. O'Brian soon accepted the offer and is ready to take 76ers back in NBA playoffs. O'Brian said that discipline in the team will be a major factor for success : "We will practice hard,'' he said. "Discipline and organization is a cornerstone of any basketball team at any level, and certainly, our guys will know what we want of them.''

76ers Land Evan Turner in NBA Draft



2010 NBA draft may go down as the most surprising draft in history of the league. Denver Nuggets had a first pick and everybody expected them to pick either John Wall or Evan Turner. But Nuggets surprised everyone by selecting Derrick Favors. John Wall was finally selected by Memphis Grizzlies with the 4th pick. After 4 picks, Evan Turner still wasn't drafted! What a great fortune for Philly! It didn't took long for Ed Stefanski to select Evan Turner, the best SG in college basketball last season and the leader of Ohio State. In second round Philly selected Gordon Hayward from Butler.

With both Billups and Lawson in the rotation, it's really no surprise that the Nuggets passed up Wall. Any thoughts on trading Brand in the near future?

Yeah, Turner is a great asset to my 76ers! I don't know about Brand. He is now hurt and I can't trade him until he comes back. We'll see how he plays in december. If good then I'll probably stick with him for some time.

76ers add some veteran experience



Philadelphia 76ers have signed two veteran players - Anthony Carter and Adonal Foyle, general manager Ed Stefanski annouced today. "We are happy to add those veteran players to our roster," he said. "They will add much needed experience and will be a great mentor to our younger players." Carter and Foyle are not expected to be in team's standart rotation.

Elton Brand out 4-6 weeks with broken wrist



Elton Brand looked as determined as ever in training camp, but again got hurt in 76ers first preseason game(76ers lost 86-99 to Hawks). The injury will keep him out of lineup for 4-6 weeks. He is expected to miss all four 76ers games in November. Marreese Speights will start in Brand's place. "It's disappointing. You work so hard all summer long and then got hurt in first game. But I'm not going to sit there and watching, I'll try to do some things to be in good shape in december."

Unlucky with Brand , makes him pretty hard to trade him.
