Orlando Magic Franchise

Postby TMACFOREVER on Mon Jul 14, 2003 7:15 am

I am doing a franchise with Orlando(fav. team), I've already played through 82 games(yes, played all 82!) and i'm mighty proud of that. I've played 21 games so far for the 2003-2004 season...I'll give you all the roster moves I made last season and in the offseason...BTW I put G. Hill on the IR after he had played 29 games. I was elimnated from the playoffs in the 2nd round, game 6. Reg. Season record was 58-24. Tim Duncan was league MVP. McGrady averaged 33.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 6.0 apg, 2.5 blk, 1.5 stl. This was from 2002-2003.

2002-2003 roster moves
Traded Andrew Declerq(sp?) for Drew Gooden, this was the CPU's idea(Grizzlies not very smart eh? heh).
Traded Darrell Armstrong for Sam Cassell (Milwaukee)
Traded Mike Miller for Richard Jefferson (NJ)

Offseason
Re-signed Jacque Vaughn for 100,000 pts/year for 1 year(he played good off the bench for me, hes trade bait for this season)
Re-signed Dan Gadzuric for 40,000 pts/year for 1 year(his rating went up 3 pts to 72, thought i would extend his contract another year, see how he pans out.)
Traded Pat Garrity and Sam Cassell to the Bulls for Jay Williams and Tyson Chandler.(Going for youth, plus their contracts are cheap).

So that brings us to the present...heres my lineup as of now.

C- Tyson Chandler 11.4 ppg, 9.5 rpg (81 ovrl)
PF- Drew Gooden 9.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg (81 ovrl)
SF- Grant Hill 15.5 ppg (86 ovrl) I'm playing him limited minutes.
SG- Tracy McGrady 34.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 6.2 apg, 2.3 bpg, 1.5 spg (93 ovrl)
PG- Jay Williams 14.1 ppg, 9.8 apg (80 ovrl)
Reserves:
Richard Jefferson(I'm juggling starts between him and Hill.)
Jacque Vaughn(Likely to be packaged in a trade, overpaid)
Jamie Feick(Suprisingly he's very productive behind Gooden)
Ryan Humphrey(His backup slot has been taken by Feick)
Jeryl Sasser(absolute trash, hes gone as soon as I strike up a deal)
Steven Hunter(Great rebounder/defender)
Mike Penberthy(Hasnt seen any minutes this year, not sure what he can do)

IR:
Dan Gadzuric(love this guys game, no room till someone gets hurt tho.)
Brian Shaw(Need some kind of vet on this team, avgs 6.0 ppg)
Carl Garrett(7'5" rookie that hasnt seen any PT yet)

I've played 21 games so far with a record of 13-8, This is a young team that is still learning to play together, we've won 3 straight...McGrady went down early in the season with pain in his lower back, he missed 2 games, in which Orl lost both...T-Mac scored 40 or more in 4 straight games, after the Inj., then followed a 36 pt performance with a 52 pt night. Believe it or not hes still not in the top 5 MVP candidates. In every game hes played this season, McGrady has been player of the game.

Next game: @ New Orleans (8-13)

Hope you enjoy it folks!

Played my next game, which was ORL @ NO

Starting Lineups

C- Tyson Chandler | Elden Campbell
PF- Drew Gooden | P.J. Brown
SF- Grant Hill | Jamal Mashburn
SG- Tracy McGrady | David Wesley
PG- Jay Williams | Baron Davis

Game MVP- McGrady 36 pts, 14/29 .483 fgs, 3/9 .333 3pt, 4 reb, 5 blk, 4 stls, 4 asts, 4 TO

Notables-
Hill(ORL)- 21 pts, 5 reb, 2 blk
Chandler(ORL)- 15 reb
Gooden(ORL)- 12 pts, 7 reb
Williams(ORL)- 8 asts
Campbell(NO)- 15 pts, 10 reb
Brown(NO)- 10 pt, 12 reb

**Dud of the night**
Baron Davis- 14 pts, 5-17 fg, 9 TO, 16 mins(Foul trouble)

B. Davis couldn't keep his hands to himself tonight, he picked up 2 fouls in the first :45. Despite Baron being out, the Hornets kept it close all the way up to the final 2 minutes of the 4th...which of course, is McGrady time. New Orleans was looking for payback after being swept by the Magic in the first round of last years playoff, but Mcgrady torched them for 13 4th qtr points. The Magic win 96-87 and improve to 14-8 on the season.

Next game: vs. HOU (10-13)

Yeah, Chandler is a beast on the boards. And Jay is like 2nd behind Andre Miller for Assist leader. I'm kinda torn though, I don't know if I should trade Richard Jefferson, or keep him and trade Grant Hill, Richard didn't improve much in the offseason and he lost his starting slot to Hill...he better pick it up! :)

Played another game - Houston @ Orlando

Starting Lineups

C- Tyson Chandler | Yao Ming
PF- Drew Gooden | Eddie Griffin
SF- Richard Jefferson | Bostjan Nachbar
SG- Tracy McGrady | Cuttino Mobley
PG- Jay Williams | Steve Francis

Game MVP- Steve Francis 25 pts, 11/16 .688 fgs, 3/5 .600 3pt, 1 blk, 5 TOs, 12 asts

Notables-
Jay Williams(ORL)- 30 pts, 11/20 fg, 4/5 3pt, 15 asts
Richard Jefferson(ORL)- 16 pts, 3 reb, 3 blk, 2 stl, 5 asts
Chandler(ORL)- 14 pts, 11 reb
Gooden(ORL)- 12 reb
Mobley(HOU)- 24 pts
Griffin(HOU)- 13 pts
Ming(HOU)- 12 reb

**Dud of the night**
Tracy McGrady(ORL)- 22 pts, 10/26 fg, 2/9 3pt

McGrady is probably the only player who can get 22 points and be called Dud of the night...It was simply a terrible performance from T-Mac...youd have to see it in action...eww. Jay Williams had a career night, he carried the load for the Magic, who had the lead all the way up to the 4th quarter. At the start of the 4th Mobley and Francis took over with a barrage of 3 point shooting...the Magic fell behind by 11 after leading the entire game, and they would never fully recover as they dropped this decision 101-97 and move to 14-9 on the year.

Next game: vs. New Jersey(4-20)

As you can tell NJ doesnt have Kidd anymore.

See, My Problem with Williams, seems to be the opposite of yours, he was too inconsistent in his scoring, he threw ALOT of interceptions, he just wasn't working out for me especially when I had Crawford whom I favoreed over Jay anyways

And of course my up and coming 15 year old Zager

About Grant Hill and Richard Jefferson, I couldn't really tell yu....

Just out of curisoty how old is Grant Hill right now in your Franchise?

That could be a factor to consider in the trading process?

Hill is 31, Jefferson is 23...maybe I should hold out another year with Jefferson, give him time to develop. I guess Hill will do nothing but decline after this season, since hes on the wrong side of 30.

Another game played...New Jersey(4-20) @ Orlando(14-9)

Starting Lineups

C- Tyson Chandler | Dikembe Mutombo
PF- Drew Gooden | Kenyon Martin
SF- Richard Jefferson | Mike Miller
SG- Tracy McGrady | Kerry Kittles
PG- Jay Williams | Speedy Claxton

Game MVP- Tracy McGrady 29 pts, 13/18 .722 fgs, 3/3 1.000 3pt, 6 reb, 1 blk, 4 stl, 6 TO's, 5 asts

Notables-
Williams(ORL)- 16 pts, 6 reb, 1 blk, 2 stl, 9 asts
Jefferson(ORL)- 13 pts, 5 reb, 1 blk, 1 stl, 6 asts
Hill(ORL)- 12 pts, 6 reb, 2 blk
Chandler(ORL)- 12 pts, 5 reb, 4 stls
Penberthy(ORL)- 7 pts in 4 minutes
Kittles(NJ)- 13 pts
Martin(NJ)- 11 reb

**Dud of the night**
Speedy Claxton(NJ)- 12 TO's

Orlando dominated this game from the opening tip. The Nets only managed to put up 8 points  in the 1st quarter, Tyson Chandler outscored them with 10 points. New Jersey had some bad luck during the offseason as Jason Kidd reportedly turned down a contract worth 300,000 points; instead he opted to go to the Utah Jazz for 30,000(minimum) points...so the Nets were stuck with Chris Childs as their starter, whom they traded earlier this season in exchange for Claxton(the guy with 12 turnovers). The Magic pound the Nets by 37, the final score was 100-67. Orlando moves to 15-9 on the season.

Next game: @ New York (14-10)

Another game played: Orlando(15-9) @ New York(14-10)
I lost 95-87.

Starting Lineups

C- Tyson Chandler | Kurt Thomas
PF- Drew Gooden | Antonio McDyess
SF- Richard Jefferson | Latrell Sprewell
SG- Tracy McGrady | Allan Houston
PF- Jay Williams | Charlie Ward

Game MVP- Tracy McGrady 43 pts, 20/37 .541 fgs, 2/9 .222 3pt, 4 blk, 1 stl, 5 asts

Notables-
Chandler(ORL)- 12 pts, 11 reb
Hill(ORL)- 11 pts, 2 blk, 2 stl, 3 asts
Gooden(ORL)- 11 reb, 6 blk
Williams(ORL)- 9 asts
Houston(NY)- 20 pts
S. Anderson(NY)- 17 pts, all in 2nd half
Sprewell(NY)- 16 pts
Ward(NY)- 12 pts
Thomas(NY)- 9 reb

**Dud of the night**
Richard Jefferson(ORL)- 0 pts, 7 minutes, 6 fouls

This was a close game most of the way through, New York always held a slight lead of around 4-8 points. At the start of the 4th quarter, the Knicks kept making shot after shot, they were fueled by Shandon Anderson on the offensive end, the lead actually got up to 16, but McGrady single handedly cut it to 8, but he was overmatched by a whole team of Knicks. As you can see McGrady had little help on the offensive end, as he had to carry the load yet again for the Magic. I lost 95-87. Orlando moves to 15-10 on the season.

Next game: vs. Washington (11-19)

Trading block

Postby TMACFOREVER on Fri Jul 18, 2003 2:04 pm

Reportedly on the trading block for the Orlando Magic-

Richard Jefferson(SF/SG)- 10.3 ppg, .496 fg, 2.8 rpg, 1.4 bpg, 0.9 spg, 3.1 apg

Jacque Vaughn(PG)- 2.5 ppg, .390 fg, 1.7 apg

Ryan Humphrey(PF/SF)- 0.6 ppg, 0.9 rpg

Jeryl Sasser(SG/PG)- 0.7 ppg

These are the 4 main players that the Magic are looking to trade this season.

The reasoning behind me wanting to trade Jefferson is because he really needs to be on a team where he is the 1st or 2nd option on offense, in Orlando he is the 3rd option when he starts. I feel like the last surgery Grant Hill had on his ankle corrected the problem once and for all, and therefore will be using him in the starting rotation for the most part. Grant has not complained about any pain or swelling in his ankle so far this season, he is dunking like his old self again...so I'm looking for a trade that will bring in a SF that can defend and come off the bench behind Grant Hill. Jefferson is a starter, and he just doesnt fit in with my system in Orlando.

Vaughn just isn't playing well ever since I gave him that 100,000/1yr. contract...Humphrey has lost his spot in the rotation to Jamie Feick...And Sasser is just filling up roster space, i need someone that will be more productive than him.

Played another: Washington(11-19) @ Orlando(15-10)
I won 97-91

Starting Lineups

C- Steven Hunter | Wang Zhizhi
PF- Drew Gooden | Lorenzen Wright
SF- Grant Hill | Walt Williams
SG- Tracy McGrady | Jerry Stackhouse
PG- Jay Williams | Larry Hughes

Game MVP- Tracy McGrady 30 pts, 11/21 .524 fgs, 4/9 .444 3pt, 4 reb, 3 blk, 2 stl, 0 TO, 7 ast

Notables-
Hill(ORL)- 19 pts, 3 reb, 2 blk, 3 stl, 6 ast
Williams(ORL)- 16 pts, 7 ast
Gooden(ORL)- 10 pts, 6 reb
Hunter(ORL)- 7 reb, 3 blk
W. Williams(WAS)- 20 pts
Stackhouse(WAS)- 17 pts(foul trouble)
Wang(WAS)- 14 pts

This game was very, very, very frustrating in the first few minutes...Stackhouse was dunking at will, and Walt Williams was draining 3's left and right...lucky for me Stack got 2 quick fouls and went to the bench. I kept it pretty close after that(around 6-8 points was their lead throughout the first 3 quarters), waiting to make a run in the 4th. Jay Williams hit 3 or 4 clutch shots in the last couple of minutes to pretty much seal the deal for me. Wang Zhizhi was an assassin in this one too, dont think his shots ever hit rim, he was sinking em nothin but net. Anyways I win 97-91 and move to 16-10 on the season.

Next game: @ Utah(14-10)

Notables-
Hill(ORL)- 20 pts, 2 blk, 4 stl
Williams(ORL)- 13 pts, 12 asts
Gooden(ORL)- 10 reb, 2 blk, 4 stl, 3 ast

34.0 ppg, 6.2 apg, 4.2 rpg, 2.5 bpg, 1.8 spg

Believe it or not, he's not even a top 5 candidate...Shareef Abdur-Rahim is in it, don't know how, because he's averaging like 21 ppg, 8.1 rpg and thats about it.

I also got screwed out of the MVP last season, Tim Duncan won it and his team was one of the worst in the league, while my team had the 2nd best record in the east, with McGrady having the best numbers.
