San Antonio, Texas The San Antonio Spurs have been hard at work since being bounced from the playoffs a year ago. They have made moves that in many eyes have made them a contendor this coming season. During the draft the team came through with a 'steal'. That being DeJuan Blair.
DeJuan Blair will see alot of playing time in the future but as a rookie he will have to work himself into the lineup, right now he could be coming off the bench giving some much needed rest to Tim Duncan.
A huge steal in many Spurs fans eyes. Another key move for the Spurs front office is that of landing Richard Jefferson, a swingman from Milwaukee.
Jefferson will bring in the athleticism that the team has lacked, outside of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. He is a slasher. He can get to the rim and will in fact put pressure on teams and opening up shots for Matt Bonner, Roger Mason and others.
Keith Bogans, Theo Ratliff were also brought into the team for that veteran feel. Though they picked up Jefferson (fairly young compared to others) they were questioned on Ratliff and Bogans.
With losing Bruce Bowen with the trade that brought over Jefferson, the Spurs feel with Bogans that gives them another solid defender as well as Jefferson in that department.
Tim Duncan is said to be in good spirits about the changes with the team.
"You hate to see a guy like Bruce be traded away. He helped this franchise out in many ways. He was not your big time scorer but when we needed him to be he did hit some key shots. Wish Bruce all the best", Duncan stated.
Since then Bowen has been released from the Bucks and now works for ESPN.
The Spurs and their fans are ready for what could be a great season for the team.
They open up their campaign on October 28th against Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets at the AT&T Center.
