Blazers Not Rebuilding [Over due to technical problems]

The Blazers, looking forward to rebuild the team, start the season with lots of trade deals in course.

Tired of their usually injured roster, the Blazers are giving up on Greg Oden's potential for a new, although possibly not so good, center. Andre Miller has just messed up their chemistry and didn't help with nearly anything, so he's on his way out too.

The fans are eager and nervous about this new approach as the chances of a bust are very high, but most people trust Coach Nate McMillan and General Manager Kevin Pritchard will make them a contender team.

Author's Message: This is my first dynasty, so any suggestions, critics and/or help is really really welcome :D

October 28th, The Blazers start the season on a tough situation, three games on the road against the Spurs, Hornets and Rockets. Those matches might be just to showcase some players and warm up Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Co.

October 28th, Head Coach Nate McMillan has asked Brandon Roy to be more of a playmaker and get his teammates involved, so the team hired David Sanchez, a guard specialist assistant, to help Brandon.

October 28th, Shaking up the rosters in the first day of the season, the Blazers and Grizzlies have agreed to what most have called at least a really risky deal, Greg Oden was sent to the Grizzlies in exchange for 2009 second overall pick Hasheem Thabeet and Grizzlies' 2010 first-rounder.

October 29th, Jerryd Bayless, who was asking for a trade since Andre Miller came to Portland, finally got his wish granted, the Blazers reacquired Channing Frye from the Suns. Frye is expected to be a 6th man coming off the bench to replace both Aldridge and Thabeet.

November 1st, Sergio Rodriguez is coming back to Portland after the deal that sent veteran forward Juwan Howard and Dante Cunningham to the Kings, Sergio will battle Steve Blake for the starting role as point guard. With Rodriguez and Blake at the point, the Blazers are ready to part ways with Andre Miller.

November 2nd, Sergio Rodriguez hurt his ankle on his second game for the Blazers, he is expected to miss at least 7 games, so, meanwhile, Andre Miller might be back to the Blazers rotation.

November 3rd, Back at home, the Blazers will face the Hornets(4-0), Grizzlies(1-2) and Mavericks(3-1) on week 2. Without Brandon Roy and Sergio Rodriguez, escaping this week with a single loss is looking like a good deal for the team.

November 11th, Roy feeling better

Despite Aldridge's solid night, Spurs beat Blazers

LaMarcus Aldridge finished the game with 23 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 Blocks in the Blazers' first game of the season, showing great defense. Even though, Tim Duncan had 33 points shooting 15-34 field goals and grabbing 10 rebounds to give the Spurs their first win.
Hasheem Thabeet, the newly acquired 7-foot-3 center, seemed to please Coach Nate McMillan with his game, and finished with nine points, four rebounds and two blocks in 20 minutes. The Spurs beat the Blazers, 88-90.

Hornets ride West, rout Blazers 101-111

David West had 36 points(15-29 FG) and 9 rebounds to lift the Hornets against the Blazers, who are 0-2 now. Sergio Rodriguez had a nice debut starting and scoring 10 points and 11 assists. Roy left the court after twisting his ankle in the beginning of the second quarter, Fernandez took over as shooting guard and scored 25 on 4-6 three-pointers. Roy will be sidelined for 9 days.

A few interesting deals have been done. I'm not a big fan of the Blazers, but I like the idea of a dynasty story where a team needs to start over. How about putting up your current roster so people know whose on your team straight away? Anyway, good luck with it :)

Aldridge beats the buzzer, saves Blazers

Postby [X]-Factor on Mon Dec 28, 2009 7:02 am

Portland . . . 25 | 17 | 26 | 21 || 89
Houston . . . 26 | 23 | 15 | 24 || 88

The rockets could smell a win when they had a one point lead and Rudy Fernandez' layup was blocked by David Andersen with less than a second remaining, but LaMarcus Aldridge suddenly appeared in the lane getting the rebound and converting a 7-foot fade away to lift the Blazers.
Rudy Fernandez couldn't find his way to the basket shooting only 6-23 from the field and finishing with 17 points. Portland's doctors now have one more man to take care of, Sergio Rodriguez was hit by Shane Battier when driving to the rim and twisted his ankle, the staff reports that he's got a strained achilles tendon and will stay out of practice and games for at least two weeks. Sergio had 14 points, 14 assists and 7 steals in two starts for the Blazers.

Blazers ruin Paul and Okafor's night, beat Hornets

New Orleans . . . 17 | 12 | 26 | 25 || 80
Portland . . . . . . 24 | 22 | 23 | 23 || 92

Emeka Okafor had 20 points, 18 rebounds and Chris Paul added 31 points and 11 assists, but the injured Blazers still could beat them behind Fernandez' 19 points, 9 assists. Hasheem Thabeet was on the floor for more than half of the game for the first time and finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes.

Are you going to make a weekly or monthly recaps? If not, than try to make more interesting daily recaps, maybe with some photos, more stats.

Thabeet and Oden clash

Postby [X]-Factor on Tue Dec 29, 2009 2:56 am

Image
Thabeet goes high for the block

Memphis . . . 22 | 17 | 31 | 27 | 16 || 113
Portland . . . 20 | 28 | 18 | 31 | 18 || 115

For the first time, Thabeet, drafted by the Grizzlies earlier this year, and Greg Oden, former Portland center, played each other, Thabeet was really hyped, playing with energy and intensity, and finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals against Oden's 9 points, 6 rebounds.
Rudy Fernandez hurt his back in the end of the first quarter, leaving the Blazers without a shooting guard, Fernandez had 9 points in 4 of 4 shooting.
Aldridge played the hero again hitting two clutch free throws at the end of the fourth to take the game to the OT and later on hitting another two with 11 seconds left in OT to give the Blazers a 2 point advantage. Zach Randolph could just attempt a three pointer against the Blazers tough defense which he missed letting the Blazers go with a W.

Fernandez could not come back in the match, but will be available against the Mavericks.

Key players
Zach Randolph 34 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks
OJ Mayo 38 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists

LaMarcus Aldridge 27 points, 5 rebounds
Hasheem Thabeet 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals
Channing Frye 19 points(9-12 FG), 5 rebounds

The Mavericks connected 54% of their 69 shots, Dirk made 20 of his 32 attempts even with 7-foot-3 Hasheem Thabeet trying to stop him.

Roy twisted his ankle against New Orleans

November 11th, Sunday morning, the Blazers are relieved after a 3-0 week with a couple important players injured, including Brandon Roy, who is now ready to come back to the 4-2 Blazers, Roy had twisted his ankle against New Orleans on his second game this season and didn't play or practice for 8 days. This week would be much harder if they didn't have Roy, the Blazers will play at home against the Pistons(2-3) on Tuesday, then go out for another road trip facing the Nuggets(4-3), 76ers(2-3) and Wizards(2-2). Sergio Rodriguez is still injured and may return before the weekend.
