The Minnesota Timberwolves!

This dynasty will start off similar to the ones I did like a year ago, always failed after a short time of running them, we'll see if that counts true this time. So, as I've done before, I'll simulate the first season, have a draft full of computer made rookies, ability to sign free agents, pull off trades and what so ever, the bottom line is, I enjoy the offseason. The reason I picked the Minnesota Timberwolves, is that they have a nice, young core, plus for the upcoming offseason, lots of cap space which allows me to sign a big name free agent. The team isn't going to be competitive either in the first year, hence I can probably grab a nice rook from the lottery.

Soon, artwork will be added, rosters, stories, everything, I hope you'll enjoy it, I sure will.

Wish me luck & stay tuned!

2009/2010 RECAP

Image

    HIGHLIGHTS

Spurs, Celtics, Lakers, obviously Dirk, Duncan, Kobe - lots of highlights to the past season. Dirk's heroics were probably the most outstanding of it all, as he averaged nearly 30 points, over 10 rebounds and 3 assists, while playing the best defense of his career, over 2 blocks and 1.70 steals, all this earned Dirk the MVP, Most Valuable Players honours. Once in January, Dirk had three 50 point games in a row, 53 on the Milwaukee Bucks, 59 on the New York Knicks and 50 on the Tim Duncan's Spurs, who were one of the best teams in the league all season long, let alone the playoffs.
    NBA FINALS

As said, the MVP award belonged to Dirk Nowitzki and his stellar 30/10 season, carrying his Mavericks to an average, 47-35 record and the second round of the western conference, all that to get sweeped by the eventual NBA Champions, San Antonio Spurs. Let's talk about the Spurs for a bit, now. We all know that Tim Duncan's getting olde - .. Wait, what? Again, a stunning 20/10 season from the legendary big man, carrying the Spurs to 66 wins and sweeping all the teams in the playoffs, besides the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals. Boston gave the Spurs a tough start to the series as the Celtics won game 1 of the finals, but that wasn't enough to stop Duncan, Parker and Ginobili from mugging them for the next 4 games. The NBA Finals ended 4-1 for Spurs and Manu Ginobili was named the Finals MVP, averaging over 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists throughout the playoffs. Can't leave out his enormous game in Game 4 against the Celtics, where Manu clipped a total of 48 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds while holding Ray Allen to just 8 points on 2-19 shooting, to go with 6 turnovers. Allen himself said after the game, "Manu was playing out of his mind. In the third quarter when he already had like 25, 30 points, I remember putting a hand right infront of his eyes, a little too close probably and there was no way he saw the basket as he shot it (the three pointer), but guess what, nothing, but net.."
    AWARD WINNERS

To see the other award winners, such as the Defensive Player of the Year, 6th Man of the Year and more, see the awards list below:

MVP: Dirk Nowitzki (runner ups: Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Chris Bosh)
DPOY: Josh Smith (runner ups: Gerald Wallace, Kenyon Martin, Joakim Noah)
ROTY: Blake Griffin (runner ups: Tyreke Evans, Hasheem Thabeet, Johnny Flynn)
MIP: Darko Milicic (runner ups: Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Joakim Noah)
6TH: Kirk Hinrich (runner ups: Carl Landry, Anthony Morrow, Luther Head)
COTY: Gregg Popovich (runner ups: Phil Jackson, Doc Rivers, Jerry Sloan)
THE BAD & DOWNFALL OF THE 2 FROM '03

Besides all the good teams, players and such, there were a lot of surprises, negatively. LeBron James, after getting injuried during the last offseason, played very average in the past season and the lack of explosion and thrive could've been spotted rather easily. Similar story with Dwyane Wade, but the reasons behind the bad play was not an injury, attitude problems that resulted in a lack of touches and problems between the coaching staff and Wade himself. Wade was once tweeted during the halftime, "im bustin my nuts off @ practice, coach still aint playin me lol.. we still 1 of the great teams, must mean the coach is doin the right things, hahaha, right...." - after the message, Dwyane Wade was fined and suspended for two games. Despite Wade averaging just over 17 points, the Miami Heat finished the season on a high note with 58 wins, easily earning the second seed in the eastern conference.
    TANKIN' TIME

Many teams found themselves 'tanking' after having a poor start to the season, such as the Warriors, Knicks, Timberwolves and more. Rightfully so, you could say, after seeing the upcoming list of draftees that includes college stars such as Jonah Jackman, Rolf Bart and the list goes on. The Minnesota Timberwolves finished with the worst record in the league with 21 wins and 61 losses.
    ALL-STAR WEEKEND

The All-Star Weekend was another highlight to the season. The best from each conference faced up, but Kobe Bryant and the Western All-Stars stood higher, winning the game 137-129. Kobe Bryant earned the All-Star MVP honours with 24 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Despite Tyreke Evans' 29 points in the Rookie vs. Sophmore game, Derrick Rose and the Sophmores pulled away in the second half for an easy, 144-118 win. Derrick Rose was the MVP with 19 points, 14 assists and 4 rebounds. The Sprite Slam Dunk Competition, which a lot of people love the most out of the entire weekend was definitely something to watch. Shannon Brown's crazy flight from a step behind the free throw line pushed him to the win over LeBron James, Demar DeRozan and Nate Robinson. In the three point shootout, Ben Gordon started netting threes mad, finishing the competition with 19 made in the first round and 22 in the second, which was enough to get him the first spot.
    PLAYOFFS

In the end, what everyone loves the most, the playoffs finally came. San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets led the way in the Wild Wild West, each of the three having over 60 wins. In the Eastern Conference, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat and surprisingly enough, the Detroit Pistons shared the stage. The road to the NBA Finals was bright to only two of the entire 16, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs. As stated in the very beginning of the article, the Spurs swept everybody on their way to the finals, but that was also the case for the Celtics who had swept the New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic and Miami Heat - all, to finally go over the top and win the finals once again. The first game was a great start for KG, Pierce, Jesus and Rondo, but the next four games were the real, true, Spurs Basketball.

Yeah, the Nugs did a good job in the past season in my dynasty. About the 1st pick, remember there's a 75% shot that I might not get the 1st pick, hehe. Either way, the top three is packed I believe, we'll find out, I guess. :)

ALL ACCESS: ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER DRAMA

4 PM at David Kahns office.

A new face walks into David Kahns office, someone who Kahn had never seen before. The man quickly casts a greeting nod towards David, who stares at the stranger with a curious, yet thoughtful face as he looks through the papers which appear to be about the draftees. "Hey Mr. Kahn, I'm Malik." Kahn keeps staring at him with a slightly surprised face, "Yeah? Who are you, and why were you let into my office without me knowing about it?" The strangers face turned serious suddenly, "You ain't told about it? I'm Malik Monroe and Taylor hired me to assist you with your duties.. Well, either way, here I've got my paperwork that might help you a bit, there's a lot of scouting about the rookies done that you can see and all, just check it out and call me back later, alright?" Kahn looks to be a bit surprised, but before he can even respond, the strange, overweight man throws a couple papers ontop of Kahn's desk, then storms out. Kahn checks the papers out quickly, noticing an unorganized text on the papers, but a lot of information seems to be thrown on it about the possible lottery picks, Jackman, Bart, Bailey and others. After looking through the papers, looking, not reading carefully, Kahn decides to give a call to Glen Taylor, the owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves organization. "Oh, dear lord, how many times do I have to tell you, I'm not interested! N, O, T!" shouts the owner in the phone as he picks up, "Ho, Glen, you alright? It's me, David.." - "Oh, David, my bad.. I've been getting calls from the magazine dealers for like three hours in a row now, unbelieveble.. Anyway, what's up?" asks Glen. "Who's this, uh, Malik Monroe you had hired to help me, without me knowing it? He came to my office, threw some papers with pretty great scouting information and possible offseason moves on my desk and left.." - "Malik who? I have never even heard of the name, I didn't hire anyone under you yet.. Though, if he gave you some good information and ideas to work with, why not get back on him? Maybe he's got potential in this show business, how about that, David?" Glen asked out of curiousity. "Wait, hire him to work under me? I don't even know about him, never seen this chubby dude, but he looked fresh. Look, I'll call him up to meet us at 6 PM in my office, you'll be here?" - "Mmh, I'll be there."

6 PM at David Kahns office.

David Kahn and Glen Taylor are already sitting behind the desk, waiting for the strange man who had called himself Malik Monroe, to return to Kahns office for a possible job. After fifteen minutes of waiting.. "Forget about it, this coward is not co.. -" All of a sudden, the door, covered with dark red leather and a big sign saying "KAHNS OFFICE", opens and a big, overweight person storms in with, sweating a bit and breathing heavily. The owner of the organization frowns a bit, turning his gaze from Monroe to Kahn briefly, cocking an eyebrow, then turning back to Monroe. "Oh, sorry, damn it! I missed the bus so I ran, probably took down like ten pou.. Uh, yeah, I missed the damn bus, sorry!" he said, still gasping for air. The two, Kahn and Taylor stared at Monroe with blank faces for a bit, then bursted laughing and told the man to sit down. Glen Taylor quickly turned to the man with a couple of questions, "Why the heck did you say I hired you? I have never seen you, let alone hire you.." Malik sighed and palmed his face briefly, "I just wanted'a make sure Mr. Kahn would see the papers hea', think I made some good points thea', you know? Been a fan of this team for long now and some improvements would be nice, no? Oh, and sorry.." After Malik's comment, Kahn's face turned a bit serious and he kept staring at the overweight, sweaty man with a slightly furious face, "Wait, wait, wait, you're trying to say that I, David Kahn, am not doing good enough work and that's why the organization has been.. like it has been, is that what you're trying to say!?" he asked with a slightly mad voice. "No, Sir! I was just trying to help you out with a couple ideas of mine, na'mean? Sorry 'bout that, shouldn't of done that, I guess.." said Monroe, as he places his hands ontop of the desk to push himself up from the chair he was sitting on, ready to leave the office. Kahn looked a bit happy with Monroe ready to leave, but the organization's owner, Glen Taylor, quickly stopped Monroe, "Hey, easy now.. I agree with your point and I believe we could work something out, come sit back down.." After that, Kahn glanced at Taylor, looking even more pissed off, "What!? You're letting this scumbag stay in my office!? He stinks like a fucking skunk, no way he's got good points and there's no way he can help out the general manager of this fucking Wolves organization! NO WAY!" shouted Kahn at Taylor, who raised both of his eyebrows and stared at Kahn with an extremely surprised face. Meanwhile, Malik Monroe was standing by the chair, switching his gaze between the two on the other side of the desk. Suddenly, Taylor sighed as he shook his head a couple times, "David, out.. I'm tired of you sitting, whining and earning at the same time.. Out.." Despite Taylor saying it calmly, Kahn went right back furiously. "How dare you throw me out of my office, fucker, you!?" He asked, biting his lips nervously. "I said leave, before I call the security! You're fired." After staring at Taylor briefly, Kahn jumped up from his desk and started walking towards the exit, "FINE! I can earn more working as a fucking shop assistant anyway, you cunt!" he said as he left the office. After a few seconds of silence after Kahn had left, Malik turned his sight from the door to Glen Taylor, "I'm a shop assistant.." Taylor chuckled for a moment, but then went back ontopic to talk about Malik Monroe, who seemed to have potential for the now free General Manager position..

Thanks mate. About Rubio, I'm unsure right now, either way it'd be a bit unreal if I got him for the upcoming season, hence I'll see what comes afterwards if I'll ever decide to go to the second season. So yeah, getting Rubio after the second season would be pretty stellar and would add a lot to the entire story.

DAVID KAHN FIRED, REPLACED BY A STRANGE NAME

    Image
David Kahn during the press conference

    May 13, 2010, 11:13 PM ET

Minneapolis, MN (AP) - The Timberwolves had gotten tired of the below average
records the medicore rosters in the past had given them, hence a change was
needed. Sources say that the owner of the Timberwolves organization, Glen
Taylor was rather happy with the coaching staff and what they had done, as the
the team was rumoured to be clicking quite well, but some parts were missing,
parts that Glen Taylor believed a new General Manager could help the team get.

"That's just something that happens," said David Kahn, the previous General
Manager of the team. "The team didn't have the pieces and thanks to the
inpatient attitude towards the situation by some certain people, I won't have a
chance to work with the team no more. That happens, I'll probably get a new
job by the beginning of the next season, as I've already got a few calls around."

As a replacement, the Timberwolves shook the city of Minneapolis, as they hired
an unknown name, Malik Monroe. Despite that, the owner of the team believes
this certain person will be able to turn things around.

The Timberwolves finished last season with just 21 wins and are looking ahead to
the draft lottery coming up soon. The Wolves have a 25% shot at the first spot in
the upcoming draft, ready to net a superstar in the making.

ALL ACCESS: WHAT'S GOOD ?

Malik's cheap looking Nokia started singing Lady Gaga's Paparazzi loudly as he recieved a call from Glen Taylor. "Hey Malik, I wanted to inform you about your office - it's done, Bryan had customed it just how you wanted." said Glen right after Malik picked it up. "Uh, morning.. Bryan customed the office, aha, eh-eh.. Alright, thanks for telling me that, I'll go there and get to work then, I guess.." responded Malik, still rubbing his eyes in the bed, staring at the alarm clock from the corner of his eyes. "Alright, take care." Malik got up from the bed slowly, yawning and stretching out, "God, I hope they changed the ugly red leather from the door there.."

After an hour, Malik finally got to the office and the rooms design, fresh smell and clean look cracked a huge smile on Malik's face. He went over to the dark brown, wooden desk located by the window, slowly slided his fingers across it, smiling with an happy face. On the table, he could see a brand new, flat screen computer, pens, couple of notebooks and more that type of things. He went to the other side of the table and dropped down ontop of the chair, letting out a happy and proud sigh. He logged on the computer and quickly checked his mails. Three new mails out of which two were spam from some old gaming sites. The other one was from scout Stephen Pescavese who had been with the team for the last three seasons. The mail from him consister of the five possible draftees the Timberwolves could go with the first, second, third or fourth pick.

    Stephen Pescavese wrote:Hello, Mr. Malik.

First of all, congratulations on your new job, good luck getting to the goals you're making for yourself. I'm one of the scouts, by the way, I usually look into the draftees that are likely to go top five, or atleast in the lottery. As we've got the biggest chance of landing the first overall pick, I decided to take a deeper look into the rookies that are projected to go in the top five or so, draftees we could pick. Here's the list.

      Image
      Nenad Marulic -
SF, 6'6", 197 lbs, Croatia, 25 years old
      Potential - Good
      NBA Comparision - N/A

A terrific passer and a playmaker. Good ball handler. Fundamentally sound. Bad athleticism. Despite not jumping too high, can finish well above the basket at times. Rather strong, but small body has gotten him injured many times. Can play very long stretches without getting tired. Struggles to stand infront of his man. Bad footwork. Quite old for the NBA Draft. Stellar basketball IQ. A good locker room presence. Below average shooter.

My word: Definitely someone to look at. He could work together very well if we had shooters and post presence on this team. We lack shooters right now, but the latter is definitely a yes. Could play the point forward position, kind a like LeBron does with the Cavaliers. He's similar to Larry Bird, really, but not nearly as good shooter and other skills are not as advanced, but that's Bird we're comparing him to, that's something there.

      Image
      Rolf Bart -
SF, 6'6", 213 lbs, Colorado, 20 years old
      Potential - Excellent
      NBA Comparision - Trevor Ariza

Extremely good athlete. A great defensive player. Can play both, the passing lanes and man to man defense. An horrible free throw shooter, at just around 35%. Solid rebounder. Good passer in the open court, but lacks court vision. A determined, hard working young man. Not good at creating a shot for himself, but solid catch and shooter. You could say he's not ready to jump to the NBA yet, could use a bit more experience on the college level. Poor ball handling ability. Has a lot of turnovers. Good rebounder for his position. Takes difficult shots at times and doesn't play to his strengths.

My word: He can really turn out to be an extremely great player. He needs to improve his decision making and shooting skills. His free throw shot is absolutely unreal, and bad, that's what I mean. I could shoot better than him, even with my eyes closed. About the good things, though.. His upside is crazy, if he only works on a couple parts in his game, I don't see why this kid can't become a top 25 player ever, and he definitely is an ambitious player that works hard on his goals. Plus, he's so, so, so athletic..

      Image
      Jonah Jackman -
SF, 6'7", 233 lbs, Long Beach St., 23 years old
      Potential - Average
      NBA Comparision - Carmelo Anthony

Unbelieveble speed, with or without the ball. Solid understanding of the game. Extremely big and strong body. Amazing ball handling skills. Huge hands. Good ability to finish around the basket. Not a good dunker. A tough player who can play through a lot of injuries. An average rebounder. Good help defender, gets a lot of blocks thanks to that. Despite being a good help defender, struggles guarding his own man very well. Not a very good shooter yet, especially from the free throw line (64%). Able to finish plays after getting fouled hard. A vocal player. Extremely clutch player. Possesses a very good crossover dribble.

My word: Absolutely ridicilous ball handler, he's in the MJ/Erving department with that. I was watching his team play against the UC Davis, a pretty unknown team to most. Either way, he went right at the big man who had blocked Jackman's teammate twice straight. He rarely dunks in a game, but he wanted to throw it on the big man. He went up really high and met the big man at the rim, he then pulled the ball behind his back WHILE in air, and so, he basically did an 'up and under, behind the back' layup, all this past a 7 foot big man who would of blocked him if he didn't pull for the circus shot. Ontopic, this is another person we should look at, he's an amazing teammate, explosive scorer and all that.

      Image
      Rashard Justin -
PF, 6'8", 252 lbs, Kentucky, 25 years old
      Potential - Good
NBA Comparision - Jason Maxiell / Chris Bosh

A big man with an extremely high basketball IQ. A great ball handler with tons of moves to use in the post. Can finish above the basket. Not very athletic, relies on his fundamentals a lot more. A good locker room presence. Still trying to improve playing with his face to the basket. Undersized height wise as he stands just 6'8". A really good rebounder, especially for his size. May look like a strong player at first, but most of his size and weight comes from fat. A really poor passer, even for a big man. Good touch inside. Old, won't improve too much, especially on the athletic side.

My word: Amazing big man, he's a really, really good second or third option for a championship team. One of the things for us is, that we already have Kevin and Al Jeff, hence he might not be the right option for us. He's got a questionable attitude at times, but remains a good teammate who players love to play with. He's like a poor mans Tim Duncan, but a lot smaller and obviously he's not got the calibre that Tim has.

      Image
      Gary Bailey -
SG, 6'2", 205 lbs, Minnesota, 23 years old
      Potential - Good
NBA Comparision - Ben Gordon / Stephen Curry

Absolutely stunning scorer. Great shooter with unlimited range. A flashy offensive minded guard. Poor basketball IQ on both ends. Known to be a chucker. Quick hands, able to get steals from the passing lanes. Gambles a lot on the defensive end. Loves to take big shots at the end of games. Wants to be the center of the attention. Good at getting off his own shot. Good dribbling ability. Can get to the FT line at will, from where he shoots a very good, 89 percent. Short for his position, but has got huge hands.

My word: One of the most explosive scorers I've seen on the college level. I really believe he could take, and make jumpshots from halfcourt and remain a perfect, soft touch to go with the correct follow through. Despite all that, he's got that me-first attitude, which is questionable at times. Teammates don't like him at times, but love him when he makes the clutch shots which happen occasionally. I don't think he's the right one for us, he's an explosive scorer, I'll give you that, but as a team player? Don't think so..

Hope it'll help you with your decision, a list of possible second rounders will be sent to you after a couple of days, stay tuned !
    - Stevie.

After reading through the list of rookies and knowing that the Wolves had the biggest chance of landing the first overall pick, Malik got happier than ever. The Wolves had a ton capspace, a high pick plus promising young players in Al Jeff, Kevin Love, Ramon Sessions and most others.. "Me likezzz... Ha!" said Malik, smirking as he stared at himself from the mirror.

Yeah, although the two are not really that similar. Jackman looked like he had the hands and handling ability of Erving or Jordan the way he's able to pull off circus shots with ease, had Ron Artests body and overall looked a bit similar to Melo. The speed was uncompareable, though, if that's a word.

TIMBERWOLVES WIN THE LOTTERY

    Image
The Minnesota Timberwolves get the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft

    May 29, 2010, 8:29 PM ET

Minneapolis, MN (AP) - After finishing the 2009-2010 season with the
worst record in the league at 21-61, the Minnesota Timberwolves had the
best shot at winning the NBA Draft lottery to get the 1st pick of the 2010
NBA Draft. Fortunately for them, that's just how the lottery went as the
Timberwolves got the highest spot, hoping to get themselves a true
franchise player, the first one in Minnesota since Kevin Garnett left.

"That's really great," said the Timberwolves' new general manager, Malik
Monroe. "The opportunity to go first is big. I mean, we don't have to weigh
ur options as much during the draft, but we can make up a final decision
before and all, so yeah, it's definitely big for us, we're thankful for that."

"Minnesota!? I mean, uh.." said Rolf Bart, a possible top three pick in the
upcoming draft. "Well, yeah, Minnesota.. Yeah, the city's had a lot of ball
playa's before, na'mean? Charles Barkley, Vince Carter and guys.. Hehe.."

Meanwhile, the NBA's Commissioner, David Stern, was happy for the Wolves.
"I believe they're really fortunate to have this opportunity, the team has been
really desperate for a franchise player and a winning record as of late. This
      is their chance."

ALL ACCESS: FOR THE FUTURE

      During the lottery..
Malik crossed his fingers as he stared at the TV carefully, the NBA Draft lottery was on and the third pick was about to be announced. "Lucky enough, atleast not the fourth spot" he thought. Al Jefferson was in NY, sent to the Lottery to present the Timberwolves. He had stood still on his comfortable chair behind the booth with a "TIMBERWOLVES" sign on it until' the fourth pick was announced. Fortunately for the Wolves, the Knicks got the fourth spot. Jefferson, Malik and probably tons of other Minnesotans were watching the lottery with their fingers crossed, not even blinking.

After a while, the third spot was announced and the Portland Trailblazers got it. The Trailblazers have a lot of problems with the signing of their superstar guard, Brandon Roy. Sources say the two sides are not happy with what they have to offer to eachother, but it is believed that something will be worked out eventually. After the Trailblazers got the third pick, Malik was grinning towards the TV, staring right at the legendary Michael Jordan behind the "BOBCATS" sign, holding the rather usual, cocky, yet somewhat proud face. The second and the first pick were now between the two teams, Charlotte Bobcats and Minnesota Timberwolves. Jordan and Al Jefferson were right next to eachother behind their booths, Jordan turned to Jefferson, joking, "Al, you gonna' get less touches this year, right?" he asked, smirking right in Jeffersons' face. "First pick, baby." responded Al Jefferson, winking right back at MJ, who just chuckled quietly in return.

Eventually, the Bobcats' logo appeared on the big screen behind the teams' booths. This meant, that the Timberwolves will get the first spot and the Bobcats the second. Al Jefferson turned to Jordan, winking once again with a big grin on his face, "Told ya'." Jordan went over to him to congratulate him quickly. Meanwhile, Malik had started doing the winners' dance right infront of the big mirror in his bedroom, whisteling some tune to himself proudly.

      Afterwards..
Knock, knock, knock - Malik's office door, without the red leather on it, which had bothered Malik a lot before. "Yeah, come in." said Malik as he was playing poker in his computer. Stephen Pescavese, the teams' scout who had sent a rookie scouting report on Marulic, Jackman, Bart, Bailey and Justin, walked in. Malik quickly closed the card game and adjusted himself on the chair to look a bit more polite, intelligent and altogether, more like how a general manager should've, in his opinion. "Mr. Monroe, good morning.. I wanted to help you with your decision on the draft if you're looking for help on it." said Pescavese, nodding slowly as he talked with a shy voice and shy face, aswell. "Yeah, sure, let's talk about it." said Malik as he pointed towards the chair on the other side of his desk with the top of his chin, "Take a seat." Malik quickly pulled a drawer open to take out the scouting report papers, sliding them in the middle of the desk. "Alright, I guess.. My favourites out of the group were Marulic, Jackman and, believe it or not, Bailey." said Malik, switching his gaze between the papers and Stephen's face repeatedly. "Why wouldn't I believe it, I mean, Gary Bailey's an unbelieveble scorer, he'd be able to average 20 right away in this league if he got the minutes. His range, oh me, oh my.." said Stephen, shrugging afterwards. "But then again, you look at Jackman and Marulic, pair either one of those with a 2 guard that can shoot it well, defend well, pass well and can play off the ball, then that's even better than having Bailey take 30 shots a game, even if he manages to pull off 40 points that way. Just imagine a trio, like, Al Jeff, Marulic or Jackman and Rip Hamilton. Put a good rebounder with a solid face to the basket game at the 4 and a good shooting point guard that can pass it and take it to the rack, we'll be good then, man, we'll be good." said Malik, smiling proudly as if he was in a great situation already. "That's right, couldn't agree more with what you said.. I'll say we get all of the three to workouts twice, and then we get both, Rashard Justin and Rolf Bart for once." said Stephen, scratching the top of his head thoughtfully. "Yeah, I agree. Oh, by the way, did you hear Rolf Bart's comment on us winning the draft? Unbelieveble, I'm quite sure he doesn't even know where Minnesota is on the map." The two continued the conversation about the draftees for quite a while and Malik later sent Stephen to invite all of the five for workouts with the Timberwolves.

JACKMAN GOES FIRST

    Image Image
    Jonah Jackman - Cothran Gray

    June 26, 2010, 5:51 PM ET

Chicago, IL (AP) - A new life began for many this afternoon during the 2010 NBA Draft. The hard work the young basketball players had put in for this moment had payed off. Many people thought that this, the 2010 draft, was one of the strongest since 2003, with the exception of 2008 possibly.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, who went first in the draft, were seeking for a new direction going into the draft. The past had not worked out too well, which is why in the end of the last season the team got a new general manager, Malik Monroe. From the draft, the Wolves needed a big bump, a possible future superstar, they needed to net someone like LeBron James for Cleveland in 2003, Kevin Durant for Seattle/Oklahoma City in 2007, Derrick Rose for Chicago in 2008 and so on. For the possible franchise player, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected Jonah Jackman from Long Beach State University. Jackman, a 6'7" strong wing player averaged 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists during the three years in college.

"I'm extremely delighted to have this chance," said Jackman about him being drafted by the Timberwolves. "Minnesota is definitely a great city with great fans, and I can't wait to get the show rocking." After the short interview, Jackman took off the Timberwolves cap given to him right after the selection, situated it right next to his wide smile and pointed at it, winking right to the camera.

With the first pick in the second round, the Timberwolves chose to go with the 7'4" Cothran Gray from St. John's university. Gray is definitely a freak of nature, at 7'4" with a 8'1" wingspan, he's rather quick for his size and has an unbelieveble endurance. Believe it or not, Cothran Gray, nicknamed The Great Cothran, can touch the rim without jumping from the ground. His skillset is often compared to the big man drafted last year, BJ Mullens.

Besides Jackman, many other possible future All-Stars were selected in the lottery. To see where players such as Gary Bailey, Nenad Marulic, Rashad Justin or Rolf Bart headed, see below.

1st pick - J. Jackman, Timberwolves, SF, 6'7", Long Beach St., 23 yrs old
        2nd pick - N. Marulic, Bobcats, SF, 6'6", Croatia, 25 yrs old
        3rd pick - G. Bailey, Trailblazers, SG, 6'2", Minnesota, 23 yrs old
        4th pick - R. Bart, Knicks, SF, 6'6", Colorado, 20 yrs old
        5th pick - R. Justin, Thunder, PF, 6'8", N/A, 25 yrs old
        6th pick - F. Qadir, Warriors, C, 7'0", N/A, 23 yrs old
        7th pick - S. Long, Pacers, SG, 6'2", Arkansas, 26 yrs old
        8th pick - V. Durand, Bucks, PF, 6'9", UCLA, 22 yrs old
        9th pick - J. MacDonald, Wizards, SG, 6'3", Iowa, 22 yrs old
        10th pick - T. Medina, 76ers, SG, 6'2", Howard, 25 yrs old
        11th pick - R. Bart, Grizzlies, SF, 6'6", UCLA, 25 yrs old
        12th pick - B. Giles, Clippers, SF, 6'4", Congo, 20 yrs old
13th pick - J. Leon, Hawks, SF, 6'7", Ohio St., 25 yrs old
        14th pick - J. Glanville, Kings, SG, 6'7", LSU, 22 yrs old
        ...
        31st pick - C. Gray, Timberwolves, C, 7'4", St. Johns, 22 yrs old

"'Chea, we gonna' get this whole thing going on in New York, na'mean?" said Rolf Bart, who's on his way to New York after being selected fourth. "Coach Mike will love my services, I'm definitely the best player out of the draft, no questions asked." The last question of the interview was if Bart had already traded words with the Knicks' head coach, Mike D'Antoni, which really confused Rolf Bart. "You mean the Shaq trade to Cleveland?"

Unusually, not a single trade took place on the draft day.
