Postby RDV23 on Wed Aug 05, 2009 1:15 pm

Well, I got the dreaded Red Ring Of Death, I will now have to ship my beloved xbox away and wait many weeks to recieve it back from microsoft. Thanks Bill Gates thanks.

Thanks to anyone, that even opened this topic, and even more thanks to anyone who actually took the time to read it and respond.

I think I'll start another dynasty once I find my Gamecube :D

After my Nuggets dynasty fell through the cracks, I am back for a second try. I have chosen the Detroit Pistons, as they are in the process of rebuilding, with a good mix of budding young guns and aged veterans. So without further ado, I give you:

Huskies Connect in Detroit

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva are officially teammates once more, having signed their respective contracts with the Pistons Wednesday evening. The newest Pistons share the same goal as the fans: to relive the glory days of 2004.

“It’s great having someone that I’ve known for so many years and finally be reunited with him on another team,” said Gordon, who spoke to the media shortly after signing his new five-year deal. “It’s a great feeling.”

Gordon and Villanueva were integral parts of the University of Connecticut team that won the 2004 NCAA championship; less than three months later the Pistons captured their third NBA title. Gordon recognized similarities between the ’04 champions and the squad Joe Dumars has started to assemble with him as a cornerstone.

“I think they’re making a lot of changes obviously, still have a few pieces from the championship team, but there’s definitely some new blood,” he said. “We’re hungry. Everyone’s coming in with a chip on their shoulder. I think we’ll fit in well.”

Moments after being eliminated from the playoffs in a heartbreaking loss to Miami, first year coach Gerald Jackson, held a team meeting in the Pistons locker room.

"Well boys, you played your hearts out all season, no one out there even expected us to come this far, even from the get-go people wrote us off, but we, we proved them all wrong. Now let us not be ashamed of our failures this season, but be proud of our accomplishments. And now that this season has come to an end its time to start looking to the future, some of you may not be in a Pistons uniform next year, so I'd like to say it has been one hell of a ride. But for now clean out your lockers and I'll see you at training camp."

ESPN Reports: The Thunder may have just lucked out by obtaining the number one pick, the only problem is, what to do with it? With such a deep, talented class of players its a tough choice. Thunder are in need of a big man but it is not likely they will take USC guard Lucas Hadson at number one, so taking projected number one pick, New Mexico center Dan McNamara is most likely the best solution however LSU forward Jonas Marshall or Maryland's Derek Harvey is not out of the question.

When questioned about who they will take with the pick, GM Sam Presti responded "Really it's a tough choice, we are still debating who exactly we will take or even if we will keep the pick, as of now its all up in the air"

Very strange All-NBA First Team. What happened to Kobe, LeBron, and Dwight? McGrady, Marion, and O'Neal are not near the high caliber players they used to be.

Man! You gotta be kidding me, Paul Pierce for big z... and Lebron??? I know Paul Pierce is good but for Lebron James as well. Cleveland would never do that in real life, but i love this dynasty story! That Rudy Gay and Zack Randolph trade was really good, I like Dwight Howard but I'd rather have Rudy Gay and Zack Randolph, wow! Very good cpu trade. I just don't understand why cleveland would tade Lebron. And was that Detron Williams that made the all defensive team? I'm surprised at that. What a supurb dynasty story and very good pictures, amazing.

Thanks for the comments guys, there's only a small problem, when scouting the rookies my XBOX froze. This means I will have to start the offseason all over again, meaning there will be a different scouting report for all the players, and well, the Knicks might not get the first pick :P

Inside The Green Room

Gerald Jackson, Joe Dumars, and head scout Bryant Riley sat around a round table waiting anxiously to see who would still be available when pick 25 rolled around. The phone had been ringing all night, calls from GMs across the league poured in inquiring about the availability of almost all the players on the team, but still nothing caught the eye of the three men at the table.

But then, the phone rang.

"Hello" asked Jackson
"Ahh hello Mr.Jackson, its Mike Dunleavy" said the Clippers coach.
"What can I do for you" ask Jackson a little annoyed.
"How bout a sign and trade deal" offered Dunleavy.
"Who do you have in mind" Jackson replied.
"Allen Iverson" Dunleavy said without hesitation.
"Hmmm, lets see what we can do" Jackson responded.

After a few back-and-fourth offers the two men had finally reached an agreement.

"Alright so its a deal then, we will sign Iverson and then send him along with Will Bynum to you, and in exchange we will recieve Baron Davis and you first round pick Will Vaughn"? said Jackson clearly happy.
"Yes, looks good for both teams, I'll get the papers ready for Stern" replied Dunleavy as he went to hang up the phone.
"Wait'! Jackson muttered, almost making his voice crack.
"What" Dunleavy asked
"I know you said you wouldn't give up Gordon,Thoronton or Kamen but I want them" demanded Jackson.
"Yes and they are still not up for- wait" Dunleavy paused.
"What if we give you those three and in exchange you give us Baron back along with you first round pick" Offered Dunleavy.
Jackson though for a moment.
"Deal" he said.
"Excellent, I'll get those papers ready too" assured Dunleavy.
"But you better hurry up, your on the clock" said Jackson as he hung up the phone.

Second Deal:

The Breakdown:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A pulled this deal for a variety of reasons.
- to make it as realistic as possible, I tried to release Iverson but the CPU signed him anyway.
- gives me more depth.
- gives me a true center in Kamen.
- makes my team young.
- Vaughn has excellent potential.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the second round rolled around, the Pistons were on the clock once more.

"Well I'm likeing how the team looks Ger" exclaimed Dumars.
"Yes, but we still have our MLE, and I intended to use it still" explained Jackson.
"So what do you propose, once we pick someone, we will have reached the maximum 15 players" asked Dumars.
"Well I guess we will need to select someone then waive him" said Jackson.
"AHAHA, get his hopes up then tear them down" laughed Dumars.
"Well there is nothing I can do, my job is to make this team better" replied Jackson.
"True, I guess we better call Stern with our pick then"said Dumars as he picked up the phone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NBA Commissioner David Stern took the podium, cleared his throat and read the card in front of him.
"With the 55th in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select, Colby Burrows out of Florida State University".

Colby Burrows
6'8
275lbs
PF
Florida State

For the record, he was rated 66 overall and had some decent stats, but he is too small to play PF and simply was not in my future plans, waived.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Free Agent Market

Once More coach Jackson, Joe Dumars and Bryant Riely met to discuss how to use their Mid Level Exception.

"Well boys, looks like the best player available is Rasheed Wallace, but he is not interested in coming back to Detroit. We could also use a Point Guard, but Andre Miller and Stephon Marbury don't want to talk to us either". explained Dumars.
"So where does that leave us"? asked Jackson.
"I say we target a PG or a PF, unfortunately all the PF are scrubs, so how bout a PG" offered Riely
"How bout WIll Solomon"? questioned Dumars.
"Looks like a good addition, except he's a little old for us" replied Jackson.
"I suppose we would sign Rashad McCants" Jackson offered.
"I thought Bryant said a PG" said Dumars clearly comfused.
"Yes but I believe he should be able to run the point behind Rodney, and Eric could even play some Point if we need him too" Jackson explained.
"Sounds good to me" Riely said.
"Alright, lets sign Rashad and announce it to the media" exclaimed Dumars.

ESPN Reports: The Detroit Pistons have signed guard Rashad McCants for two years using their Mid Level Exception valued at approximately 5.8Mil/year.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ahhh the offseason is almost over, the 2009 roster will be announced shortly. But man I hope you guys are reading this, this took forever to type :p

Woah, i think you should have kept that 6'8 275 guy, you should've trained him in athletics which could've made him bigger and taller which would have made him a true power forward. He could've grown a couple of inches in a few years; i don't think 66 is all that bad or low. But its your decision, what kind of draft was it? What i mean is, was it strong or weak or what? Can't wait to see your roster, good dynasty.

lol players don't grow height wise once there drafted. As I said before, he looked decent and was cheap for his overall rating (something around $477k), but since acquiring Kamen and Thornton, the depth of my forwards is too much for Colby to get any playing time. The draft itself looked pretty deep and talented with many players with "excellent" or "good potential", however, that was only in the first round. In the second round it was players with just average potential.

That being said, here is a tentative, basic outline of what the depth chart looks like:

C:Kamen/Brown
PF:Charlie V/Wilcox/Maxiell/Hermann
SF:Thornton/Vaughn/Prince
SG:Gordon/Hamilton/McCants
PG:Stucky/E.Gordon

*there is someone else I'm forgetting, whatever, this is the tentative depth chart*

As shown the PF spot is just to deep, and this is a young team that we don't need to stash up a rookie in order to rebuild.
Official starting roster will be announced later today!

Thornton's a chucker in my eyes... Personally I'd go with Prince. He's a nice all around player that can probably defer a lot more easily to Gordon and Hamilton and give them the shots they need while Thornton can get his on the second unit.

I'd also agree that Gordon isn't exactly point guard material, but hopefully he can be molded into one. As long as a guard has a decent passing, speed and quickness rating then they tend to do well at the point.

Your power forwards and gaurds are amazing, yeah thats true about stuckey that he should play the one. Gordon's more of a shooter and scorer than passer, do you have any trades in mind? I think your team is solid, by the way, have you any idea what position you're going to draft this offseason? This team sure has plenty of development potential.

- McCants ain't smiling no more .
- You have serious Point Guard Problems .
- Kwame is not that bad to be in the Inactive Roster .
- You have 5 Excellent SG's , that means your team is really stacked at that position .
- I'd rather play Prince at the Starting Position than Thornton .
- I'd rather play Kwame over Wilcox , Kwame is bigger and a better rebounder/defender .
- You have 3 Good PF's (Wilcox,Villanueva and Maxiell ). = Stacked Up .

BaronDavis1: I'll see what I can do, the problem is, I have a shady PG situation and if I move Ben Gordon to SG behind Rip, that moves Eric Gordon farther down the depth chart and I want to give him some solid playing time.

Its_asdf: That was probably my hardest choice to make, I decided on Thornton because he is younger and more athletic. Plus I want to start developing him now, because Prince is on the decline. But I may have to reconsider this after the first couple of games.

Cleveland wins: Thank you, I have assembled this team as best I could. As of now I have not really looked at any trades, if the Gordon PG situation doesn't pan out, I'll move Stucky to PG and then trade for a backup. As for the draft, I am most likely looking to take a PG or a backup center for Kamen.

MikeMan™: Hopefully I addressed your concerns above. As for the Kwame situation, sure he is taller than Wilcox, but hes not as good. I figure with Wilcox at center my team will be playing small ball which will allow us to beat teams out on the break and score easy buckets. Also, will Wilcox as my starting center last year, we managed to be seeded #2 in the East only behind Boston.

Thanks for all your concerns/comments/suggestions, they are greatly appreciated, I will hopefully play my first game tonight and see how that goes, I will then notify you guys of any changes that may/may not be made. Once again thanks, and I hope you guys are somewhat enjoying this, I know its not the greatest, peace&love - R

Man,Trade Eric for sure,I mean Gordon could be a PG,But that's so unrealistic.
And Eric won't get Playing time,So trade Eric For some kind of PG.
And Thornton Is a guy that Doesn't like to Pass,And Prince can be a playmaker,Nice Defender,And can shoot the ball well.
So i think Prince should start.

I have tried Gordon at SG with Live 06 and it actually worked quite well. Although I doubt it will with you. You have a really deep bench and it may get boring some time.

Wilcox, Maxiell, Prince, E.Gordon, Stuckey can all start for good teams.

Pistons Blowout Warriors In Season Opener!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image
Rip Hamilton Dropped A Game High 27.

Image
ESPN Reports: At times the Pistons looked unstoppable, all the way from their starting five to their 12th man, things seemed to be rolling on all cylinders. However despite Detroit's hot shooting, the Warriors managed to keep it close throughout the first half, allowing the Pistons only to have a 57-50 advantage heading into the locker room. When the second half began Detroit came out once again firing on all cylinders, and the Warriors could just not keep up. By the end of the third the Pistons led 95-77. Finally as the fourth quarter began, the rout did not stop as the Piston's offense was just to much for the Warrior defense, with seven players finishing in double digits (Kamen, Villanueva, Hamilton, B.Gordon, Stucky, Wilcox and McCants) easily allowed the Pistons to ride a comfortable lead all the way to the final buzzer.

After the game ESPN met up with the high point man, Rip Hamilton.

ESPN: So Rip, it's gotta feel good to win the first one.
Rip: You know, it's always a confidence booster to get the first one, it sets the pace for the rest of the season.
ESPN: What do you think was the key so such a convincing victory?
Rip: I know with this high score, a lot of people would expect the offensive side of the game, but really I think our defense was, I mean we forced them into 15 plus TOs, rebounded, boxed out and did all the small things, overall I think everyone played a great game.
