Cavaliers Land Shaq For Wallace, Pavlovic

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired Phoenix Sun center Shaquille O’Neal. Cleveland will send Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, a second-round pick in the 2010 draft, and cash to the Suns for O’Neal.
Cleveland and Phoenix were both juggling multiple trade possibilities with other teams. The Cavs were involved in as many as six trade scenarios.
The disappointing Eastern Conference Finals loss to the Orlando Magic left Cavs GM Danny Ferry with incredible pressure to accumulate talent around LeBron James in the final season prior to his 2010 free agency. James has blessed the O’Neal trade, especially because it should give his overmatched frontline a chance to compete with Dwight Howard in the Playoffs. Ferry and Phoenix GM Steve Kerr are close friends and had talked off and on about a Shaq deal since the February trade deadline.
O’Neal makes $21 million next season, and the Suns were determined to move him in a package that would save them money. Wallace made $14 million and could take a buyout to retire, and only $1.5 million of Pavlovic’s $4.9 million salary is guaranteed.

I am always jealous of people who are capable of making such aesthetically pleasing dynasties like these.
Very nice work though, I'm interested to see what you can cook up. You've made a very good first impression.

Cavaliers Finally Make Mark In Free Agency

CLEVELAND, OH -- Please welcome the Cleveland Cavaliers to the 2009 Free Agency.
Danny Ferry finally reached agreements with a pair of players on Wednesday. He brought back Anderson Varejao with a six-year contract worth $50 million. He also brought in Anthony Parker, as reported by The Cleveland Plain-Dealer.
While the Cavs swung and missed with Ron Artest and Trevor Ariza, they're still a better team than the one that won 66 games last season. They acquired Shaquille O'Neal for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic, neither of whom made much of an impact last season. They will probably not be playing much next season in Phoenix either. And now, they've added Anthony Parker.
One of Cleveland's problems this past season was when 6-3 guard Delonte West tried to guard bigger players. But Parker, at 6-6, can play the two or the three and defend any wing the Cavs may face. He's a clear defensive upgrade from Wally Szczerbiak.
Coach Mike Brown will count on Parker's experience and intelligence, things the Cavs could have used against the Magic this past May. His defense will also be an important key.
Parker isn't Artest, Ariza, or Rasheed Wallace. Don't forget that even without him and Shaq, the Cavs had the best team in the regular season and fell just short of The NBA Finals.

Personally, I don't really like Parker, but he will surely be a nice addition to your squad.

Thanks. I appreciate any type of feedback.thierryhenry50 wrote:Personally, I don't really like Parker, but he will surely be a nice addition to your squad.
Thanks. He will be our only active guard over 6-3, and will add a much needed defensive presence in the backcourt. He is a true shooting guard and has much more experience than Delonte West.

Lol, I first thought you signed Parker, but then I saw it was a real life move as well.

Being a former Raptor, hope Parker does well. He was relied a bit too heavily as the focal point of the offense for Toronto at times last season and that really bothered his game. Hopefully he'll be able to take it easy this time around and spend more time parking his ass behind the three point line as LeBron feeds him open looks.

That's what I figured.

Nice mag. Simplicity's the key.
Parker will help the Cavs a lot, giving them a legit starting SG.

Parker starting, good move.

Lebron was modest. Only 21. But you got the win and you did it with defense.

Yeah, Bron was a little quiet with 21-4... Also a low-scoring game.

I normally don't score much more than that with LeBron, unless I have to. Our defense did win us that game. Atlanta also missed a few open shots they would normally make.

I'm playing with eight minute quarters, so I wouldn't expect a much higher score. The simulated games are on twelve minute quarters, so they should balance things out.

Not the prettiest of season openers but its always nice to get the first win of the season out of the way. I personally play with 10 minute quarters so I can have a few low scoring games myself at times, but for the most part I don't play any defense in my games so the score can get to the 100s easily.

Love that pic of LeBron owning Bibby.. Great win to start the season..
Edit: Funny quote from LBJ.. Shaq and him being clutch on the free throw line since both kinda suck shooting free throws in real life..

Thanks. My game has a tendency to freeze if I play one game for more than an hour, and ten minute quarters is just a little bit too long for me.homicide1550 wrote:Love that pic of LeBron owning Bibby.. Great win to start the season..

Thanks. Going into the Orlando game, Shaq was 0-4 and Lebron was 1-2 at the free throw line.
