I just bought the NBA Live 08 for the PC. Please forgive me if my writing is not great. I don't know a lot about computers except maybe to check email and to go and view sites I like. So i apoligize if there aren' t screen shots or anything great. When I finish the first season and it about time for the draft I will let you know what is coming up and some of the players who are to be drafted. Information for right now though I did pull off a trade of Zach Randolph, Darrell Arthur and another player I can't remember to Wizards for Antawn Jamison who had an expiring contract. Why did i do this to get rid of Randolph contract which had three years. I created Darrell Arthur as accurate as i could and he had one year on his contract and so did this other guy. I bascially am going to have 16 million to free up in cap to go get some players. Also am trying to get a couple of veterans and have four years to do it. In four years on this PC version Lebron james becomes a free agent and i am going to try and sign him which is why I am building around OJ Mayo. I am hoping that i can get some good draft picks and even a few decent free agents to get him to sign with the Memphis Grizzlies. Mayo right now is first priority. Rudy Gay might be used for trade bait for a 1st round pick in a strong draft or a sign and trade. Rudy Gay might also end up staying but who knows. I will keep you posted when it starts until there i hope everyone had a wonderful 4th.

I will mention some trades that i have gone now in case some of these teams resign players.
L.A. Clippers trade Ricky Davis to New York for Chris Wilcox
Memphis trades Hakim Warrick, Darrell Arthur and Zach Randolph to Washington for Antawn Jamison ( why i did this as I said before to take on an expiring contract and to free up over 16 million.
Indiana trades David Harrison to L.A. Lakers for Shannon Brown
New York trades Cuttino Mobley to L.A. Clippers for Chris Kaman
Dallas trades Devon George to Seattle ( now Oklahoma City) for Robert Swift
New Orleans trades Morris Peterson to Sacramento for free agent signing Kwame Brown
L.A. Clippers trade Paul Davis to Chicago for first round pick
New Jersey trades Devin Harris to Portland for Greg Oden
L.A. Lakers trades Sasha Vujacic to Charlotte for DeSagana Diop
Philadelphia trades Willie Green To Golden State for first rounder
New Jersey trades Jason Collins to Chicago for John Salmons
Milwaukee trades Andrew Bogut to Phoenix for Brian Skinner
Sacramento trades Kenny Thomas to Orlando for Adonal Foyle
Sacramento trades Rashard McCants to L.A. Lakers for David Harrison
Chicago trades Adrian Griffin to Golden State for Acie Law
New Jersey trades John Salmons to Milwaukee for Dan Gadzuric
Coming Soon I will talk more about some draft picks although in this draft so far there aren't very many players worth taking about since it's a weak draft. Also again Memphis is waiting for four years for Lebron James to become a free agent so they can try and sign him and put a team around him.

Some odd trades there. I like you having Jamison though.

Damn, and I thought that Live trades were stupid.
Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:27 am
well the Jamison trades was about these things
1) Get Rid of Zach Randolph
2) Find a player with an expiring contract
3) Find someone decent to replace Randolph
Unfortunely i had to get rid of Warrick and Darrell Arthur too to get rid of him. I will admit I didn't do as accurate with Mayo, Rose as I'd like for the contract are a bit crazy but i tried. The first priority for Memphis is to resign and rebuild around OJ Mayo first. Next goal is to build for the future and hopefully when his contract is up in 4 years ( which I know that isn't right but that was Live's mistake on 08) So gives the Grizzlies 4 seasons to sign free agents and to draft smart to try and entice Lebron james to Memphis. I also feel that Mayo is the first piece to entice Lebron. As far as Rudy Gay he might be traded for a future first round pick in a strong draft or another player. He also might stay and continue to start. Another enticing player for Memphis besides Lebron will be Chris Bosh.

so there you are a list of the free agents stay tuned for information and a mock draft coming up for 2008. Philadelphia at the moment actually may have two top five picks but considering this is a weak draft it's not quite as exciting unless they find a rare or two in this draft.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 1:04 pm
Here are a few of the draft picks and very few of them are good. Considering there aren't too many players worth talking about.
Reuben Kim- SF- 6'6"- 201 LBS- Colorado State
Strengths: Has a very good mid range game. Can step outside and hit the three point shot fairly well. Also has very good quickness and alot of strength.
Weaknesses: Needs to improve on his passing considering he's not a good passer. Also only has average offense and defensive awareness so he really needs to work on his awareness on the court. Also doesn't have very good dribbling ability and doesn't have a lot of mental toughness to take over a game.
My view as a GM on this player: Granted I have Rudy Gay and Sam Young at the 3 am not sure this would work. Could be a tradeable peace for next years draft or maybe Rudy Gay could be moved here. But since Kim is projected to go 1st it would be hard to pass up his talent though if Memphis gets the 1st pick in this draft.
Stay Tuned for more players.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 6:19 pm
Ricardo Hernandez - SG- 6'2"- 220 LBS- LSU
Projected: 2nd Overall
Strengths: Another good mid range shooter who can step outside and shoot the 3pt shot. Also could take on a lot of minute with his stamina and has dunkability. Could possibly even play point guard too by being an average passer. Also has some good mental toughness so will play hard.
Weaknesses: In spite of having mental toughness Hernandez doesn't have very good defensively awareness. Also could stand to improve on free throw shooting
My View As A GM ON This Player: Could fit in very well with this team and actually could play the PG. Would be a nice backcourt player behind OJ Mayo. I like his shooting ability and outside shooting.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 6:32 pm
Rasheed William- PG- 6'0" 207 LBS- Ohio State
Projected: Top 5
Strengths: Very good dribbling and passing skills with good quickness and speed. Is good at stealing the ball. has very good mental toughness and could play alot of minutes. Also a very good free throw shooter so if your ahead and you need two freethrows then William is your man.
Weaknesses: in spite of being a good passerr doesn't have very good offensive awareness around him though and is a near below average defender so needs to improve his awareness. also needs to build up his strength. Needs to also work on his midrange and outside shooting .
My View As A GM On This Player: with Point Guards being one of our needs we could use his passing ability along with his stealing abilities and speed. I think it could take a couple of seasons but for this being a weak he could be an impact player on this team though.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 7:06 pm
Kenneth Fischer- PG- 6'1" 208 LBS- Germany
Projected: TOP 10
Strengths: Very good free throw shooter and an average midrange shooter who can play a lot of minutes. Is very aware on the defensive end and could be disruptive for opponents.
Weaknesses: Needs to work on his passing ability since he is only average and could afford to get better awareness on the offensive end. Also could use a little more toughness.
My view as a GM on this player: a point guard is one of our biggest needs and the fact that he could give some good defense in our backcourt would be very well welcome. Loves the fact that he could play alot of minutes if Marko Jaric gets injured.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 7:22 pm
COLIN COX- C- 7'0"- 277 LBS- North Carolina State
Projected: TOP 10
STRENGTHS: Looking like he will be the best center in this weak draft. For a center and being an average passer I would definity consider that a strength. has very good awareness on the offensive end. Can be a very good shot blocker and is good at rebounding on the defensive end. Also could play some minutes and has some mental toughness especially on the offensive end. Also a pretty good free throw shooter.
WEAKNESSES: Needs to improves rebounding on the offensive end. Also needs to pay attention more on the defensive end . Really needs to work on his midrange shooting and even his inside scoring because of being only average inside the paint
My thoughts as a GM on this player: If we don't decide to resign Chris Mihm then Cox could fit in with this team backing up Hasheem Thabeet. I like his average passing ability for being a big man which makes it very tempting to take him if he is still on the board.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 7:36 pm
One More top ten pick might be worth mentioning
Quint O Keeffe- PF- 6'8"- 255 LBS- Louisville
Projected : TOP 10
Strengths: has some good toughness for the game , has great jumping ability along with good dribbling skills. Can step outside and shoot the 3 point shot and can even dominate inside. So if a team is looking for a good player who can score in the paint then O keeffe is your player.
Weaknesses: Terrible on the defense end and really needs to work on his defense. Does not block shots very well not really a great rebounder and probably will not play a lot of minute with his low stamina.
My view as a GM on this player: If i drafted O Keefee he would play limited minutes. I do like his offense especially inside and can shoot the 3 is good. The problem I have is his defense but i feel he possibly could be a clutch player so it might be tempting to draft him and have him play 4th quarter.
That is the last of the top ten players stay tuned for top 20, late 1st rounder and 2nd rounder. also after top 20 it may not be worth mentioning very much.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 9:00 pm
Bogdan Lopes- PF- 6'8"- 264 LBS- Croatia
Projected: Top 20
Strengths: One of the best defenders in this draft. Provides some very good defensive awareness and also shoots well at the free throw line. Also has a lot of strength.
Weaknesses: needs to work on rebouding on both the offensive and defensive end since Lopes is only an average rebounder. Also not very good inside or anywhere on the offensive end. Needs to improve his offensive game.
My opinion as a GM: as far as defenders he would be good to have alongside Thabeet. The problem i would have though is not much of an offensive game which would hurt us on the offensive end. If he could shut down opponents really well you never know though Lopes could create the offense.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 9:14 pm
Dave Burns- PG- 5'10"- 177 LBS- UNLV
Projected: Late 1st round pick
Strengths: very good passer with great speed who has incredible dribble ability. Also is very good on the defensive end aware of his opponents moves.
Weaknesses: Where do i begin? Only has average mental toughness and needs to work on being tougher. Also can't play a lot of minutes so I would suggest working out. Also absoultey terrible on the offensive end. Needs to improve his midrange and 3 point shooting.
My opinion as a GM: Might be a good backup to Marko Jaric. If i need good passing and defense then this would be a good player to take. Would be great if still on the board with 2nd round pick.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 9:23 pm
Now for some 2nd rounders
Emanuel Peters- SF- 6'7"- 236 LBS- Bulgaria
Projected: Early 2nd Round
Strengths: Peters has good stealing ability. Is a good midrange shooter who shoots well at the free throw line. Also can knock down the occasional 3. Has good offensive awareness
Weaknesses: needs to work on his inside scoring. Only an average defender so Peters needs to work on his defensive.
My opinon as a GM: could be a good third string to Rudy Gay and Sam Young. Might even be a decent second string. Could maybe try and play the 2 and give Mayo a rest. I would possibly draft him in the second round.
Fri Jul 10, 2009 9:29 pm
One more player to mention in the 2nd round
JOEY RIVERA- PG- 6'5"- 203 LBS- Towson State
Projected: Early 2nd Round
Strengths: good midrange game who can knock down the occasional three. Rivera is a player you want to get to the line because of his good free throw shooting. Good passing and dribbling abilites.
Weaknesses: A very slow point guard. Not very quick or speedy. Also not a lot of mental toughness and won't play a lot of minutes
My opinion as a GM: I like his size at the PG but unless Rivera improved his game I don't see him as a starter. Could be a good 2nd or 3rd string maybe though.
Stay Tuned to see a mock draft ( also you may think this is nuts but right now its the Suns vs the Hawks in the Finals in the 1st season.

I like this dynasty, its interesting. What if any free agents are you going to sign? Maybe you should sign, biedrens, or hickson or something. There are lots of talented players out there in free agency if you can afford them, i thought josh childress was in europe.

Welcome to NBA Draft Night Minnesota having the number one pick makes you wonder who they are going to pick. In spite of this being a weak draft there are still a few players who I think could make a difference. I could see some possible role player in this draft and maybe a couple of all stars. Most of the seasons it has been projected between small forward Reuben Kim ( 6'6" 201LBS) out of Colorado State and shooting guard Ricardo Hernandez (6'3"- 215LBS) out of LSU. Either Kim or Hernandez could fit in very well in Minnesota and could be a spark off the bench or even possibly start. Now let's find out who Minnesota selected.
With the number one pick the Minnesota Timberwolves selected 6'8"- 253 LBS Power Forward Shawn Vaughn out of Oklahoma. Here are the three things you must know about Shawn Vaughn
- bad defender
-good strength for the NBA
- good work ethic
My view on this pick: with Hernandez or Kim on the board I can't really see the reasoning for this selection unless they don't plan to resign Al Jefferson and Kevin Love. I personally think that Kim or Hernandez would have been the right choice so this pic gets a C because of Vaughn good work ethic and his strength.
( note I am only planning to mention the top 10 and my team then I will just list the players after this)
the 2nd pick belongs to the philadelphia 76ers from the Golden State trade. 76ers have two top five picks in this draft. So hopefully they will capalitize on one or both of these pics. I personally think now that Kim and Hernandez is on the board and you have the 2nd and 4th pick you draft both Hernandez and Kim. So let's see what they do. With the 2nd pick the Philadelphia 76ers draft 6'3" Shooting Guard Ricardo Hernandez out of LSU. The fans of the 76ers love this choice.
- Lacks Fundamentals
- Shaky At The Free Throw Line
- Good Athletic Ability
My View on This pIck: I feel this is an excellent choice for the 76ers who had the worst record last year. I even think that Hernandez will be rookie of the year. The most athletic player in this draft. Good Selection and I would give this an A+
Now time for the 3rd pick which is selected by the Seattle Supersonics who will they select. I don't know but whoever it is if he is good off the bench he will be a big help to this young team. With the 3rd pick the Seattle Supersonics select 6'6"- Shooting Guard Ayeshi Vega out of Fresno State. The crowd loves this choice. Here is what you need to knkow about Vega
- Plays his best in clutch moments
- Doesn't look to pass the ball
-Explosive jumper.
My view on this pick: I feel that this Vega has a great shot of being a great 6th man of the year. I possibly would compare Vega to Ben Gordon. Could give Harden a rest . Excellent choice and I would give this an A
Philadelphia is back again to draft. I am wondering who they are going to take this time. I really think that if they take Kim they will have the 1st and 2nd best players in this draft. Let's find out who they pick. With the 4th pick The Philadelphia 76ers select 6'6" small forward J.R. Jones out of Indiana. Here are three things you need to know about J.R. Jones
- Good bulk for professional basketball
- Needs work on his post game
- Not comfortable with his shot.
My view on this pick: I was impressed with there first pick of Hernandez but with this pic I'm not really impressed. He could possibly surprise me though I will give this pick a D
Miami Heat have the 5th pick. Interesting situation they really need a point guard in this draft and there is one point guard in this draft worth talking about. Rasheed William who i feel they should take to help in the backcourt with Wade. Let's see who they pick. With the 5th pick the Miami Heat select 6'6" small forward Reuben Kim out of Colorado State. Here are three things you need to know about Kim
- Questionable ability to learn
- Could shoot free throws with his eyes closed
- Amazing first step
My view on this pick: Could come in to back up Beasley. this could also move Beasley to the 4 and Jermaine O Neal to the 5. Interesting choice and not drafting on need sometimes pans out. I really though they would take Rasheed William but with Kim still on the board I would have done the same thing. I give this pick an A
New Jersey Nets have the 6th pick. last year they traded point guard devin harris to portland for big man Greg Oden. So i'm thinking maybe they will take a small forward or a point guard here which there are plenty of in this draft. If t hey take a point guard then Rasheed William is the first choice to take. I think he could definity be a good passer to Oden but will they take William let's find out. With the 6th pick the New Jersey Nets select 6 foot point guard Rasheed William out of Ohio State. ( fans are loving this thinking they may have there point guard again after the Harris- Oden trade) Here are three things you need to know about Rasheed William
- Unselfish playmaker
- Agile Athlete
- No Ability in the clutch
My view on this pick: I applaud this pick especially after trading Devin Harris. He could be Devin Harris reborn maybe. The best point guard in this weak draft. I give this pick an A+. Also the fans love this pick too.
the 7th pick belongs to the new york knicks. This team has players like ( Eddy Curry, Al Harrington, Ricky Davis, Chris Duhon, Danilo Gallinari, larry hughes) what this team really needs is a dwyane wade or lebron james like player. Unfortunely i don't think that is possible in this draft. Let's find out who they select. With the 7th pick the New York Knicks select 6'6"- small forward Roderick Alvarez out of Cal St. Fullerton. here are three things you need to know about Alvarez
- Does not hit the offensive glass
- Above Average foot speed for a NBA Player
- Rarely Misses a game due to injury.
My view on this pick: Probably the best position they really needed help would be the guard spots. But sometimes you don't draft on need I would give this pick a c minus.
the 8th pick who also will have the 22nd pick from Chicago for the Paul Davis trade belongs to the Los Angeles Clippers. Who will they select i don't know with them having ( Eric Gordon, Al Thornton, Blake Griffin, Baron Davis and Marcus Camby) whoever gets taken will probably come in off the bench. With the 8th pick the Los Angeles Clippers select 6'3" Shooting Guard DeSagana Walker out of California. Here are three things you need to know about Walker
- Gets tired easily
- Good Stroke from anywhere on the floor
- Indecisive passer at times
My view on this pick: Could provide some offense off the bench so it might be good for the Clippers. The only downfall i see besides can't decide whether to pass or shoot is can't play alot of minutes. Maybe could play 10 minutes a game but if could score 10-15 points off the bench that would be interesting. I give this pic a B Minus.
the 9th pick which I thought would have made the playoffs with having Lebron and Shaq they didn't due to injuries. Shaq and Zydrunas Ilgauskas was even injured at the same time. This team really needs to draft a power forward or even a decent backup small forward to Lebron. Let's find out who the Cavs select. With the 9th pick the Cavs select 6'7" small forward out of Belgium Caleb Jung. Here are three things you need to know about Jung
- Unlikely to score in the paint
- Automatic at the charity stripe
- Understands how to play the game on the offensive end
My view on this pick: either getting a power forward or a backup for Lebron. Well that was done. Jung could maybe provide Lebron some rest. If Lebron gets injured could Jung take over I don't know. He probably could though with his offensive understanding. All in all I give this pic an A Minus.
One more pick and the 12th pick my memphis grizzlies and then you will see the full list of players
the 10th pick belongs to the Washington Wizards. With last years trade of getting Mike Miller and Randy Foye I was certain they would have made the playoffs. I guess though when Memphis traded off Darrell Arthur, Zach Randolph and Hakim Warrick for Antawn Jamison that killed there chances. Hopefully this team will find a player who can bring them some defense. With the 10th pick the Washington Wizards select 6'7" small forward Bob Rogers out of Virginia Tech. Here are three things you need to know about Rogers
- Gifted Offensive Rebounder
- Solid Defender
- Brings Great Energy To The Court
My View on this pick: Getting a guy like Rogers with high energy and a defender at the 3 who could guard Lebron James was smart. Washington has plenty of offensive with ( Arenas, Miller, Butler, Randolph) but now having a defender like Rogers could make this team possibly playoff bound. I give this pick an A +
to mention Charlotte Bobcats select 11th. they selected undersized shooting guard Agante Fuentse out of Temple. Now the Pick you are probably waiting for to see who i selected to try and improve my team.
the 12th pick belongs to the Memphis Grizzlies. This team really needs a point guard to back up marko jaric. They could also even use an offensive center to backup Thabeet. Power Forward is another weak spot for them if they don't resign jamison who is wanting probably nearly 20 million this year. With the 12th pick the Memphis Grizzlies select 7'0"- 277 LBS Center Colin Cox out of North Carolina State. Here is what you need to know about Cox
- Hasn't missed many games so far in his career
- Not experienced playing crunch minutes
- Throws it down effortlessly
What I was Thinking with this pick: you would think with Power Forward or Point Guard as my biggest needs I would take them. I just couldn't pass up on Colin Cox good passing for a center. I am looking to build a team of nasty passing just like the Kings use to when they had Bibby. Sometimes you dont' always draft on need you draft on talent. I even watched Cox hit some mid range shots too which gets me a scorer when Thabeet goes out. My next post will give the whole list of who was drafted.

there is a trade also Charlotte trades 41st pick Gordon Neumann to San Antonio Spurs for point guard George Hill. Interesting move and with Michael Finley possibly retiring this could be a decent move and it could also bust in there faces. As for the Bobcats I guess to add another point guard to there team.
so there are the sixty picks of the 2008 NBA Draft. In case you were wondering last seasons finals was the Atlanta Hawks vs the phoenix suns. The phoenix Suns was the NBA Finals which proves that the Brian Skinner Andrew Bogut trade paid off. the starting five was Bogut, B. Wallace, Grant Hill, Jason Richardson and Steve nash. Stayed Tuned for Memphis Grizzlies Free Agents Signings and other teams. I will say this much about who I signed for free agents very interesting choices.
