Team History

The Gamblers began in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves. They were one of three franchises that joined the NBA in the 1970–71 season; the others were the Portland Trail Blazers and Cleveland Cavaliers. Because of the team's poor play in its final two years (30–52 in 1976–77 and 27–55 in 1977-78), along with rumors of the franchise relocating because of low season ticket sales, John Y. Brown met with the then-owner of the Celtics, Irv Levin and negotiated a deal in which the owners would swap franchises, in which Brown would take control of the Celtics and Levin would get the Braves. Levin was a California businessman, and wanted to own an NBA team in his native state. The deal was brokered by David Stern, the general counsel for the NBA who later became the league's commissioner in 1984. Following what would be the final season in western New York, the NBA owners voted 21-1 to let the Braves relocate. They moved to San Diego, California after the 1977-78 season, and became the San Diego Clippers. The 1981-82 season brought more changes to the Clipper franchise as Irv Levin sold the team to Los Angeles-area real estate developer and attorney Donald Sterling for $20 million. The Clippers' poor play in their final years in San Diego resulted in poor attendance with the team averaging only 4,500 fans per game. Sterling subsequently lobbied the NBA to relocate the team to his native Los Angeles. In 1984, the Clippers moved to Los Angeles, California, playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. The Clippers, under head coach Jim Lynam finished with a disappointing 31-51 record. After 24 years, Donald Sterling sold 3/4 of his stocks to his young friend Orlando Pond. Then Pond decided to bring the franchise to his favorite city, Las Vegas. David Stern approved the proposal to bring a team to the Sin City while his concern on NBA betting games in this city will be terminated.

Los Angeles Clippers, sold out?

From Buffalo Braves to San Diego Clippers. From San Diego to Los Angeles. Now, Las Vegas will take centerstage as a new franchise will go play professional basketball in the Sin City.

Storyline:
Meet Orlando Pond. A 23-year old rich business man planning to go to U.S. and start a business. Is an NBA team the right one?
One day, Mr. Pond read a rumor on the internet. The Clippers are now for sale. Then he quickly get his phone, call the owner, Mr. Donald Sterling.
Pond: Hey Donald, is it true that you are selling your NBA team?
Sterling: Where have you read that? I think it's going to be good to be true.
Pond: Then consider it as sold...Aight?
Sterling: Are you sure? We're talking billions here. You're a young guy. Can you handle this?
Pond: You know me man. I'm the best among the rest. I don't care about the billions. I will care about the income.
Sterling: Oh. That's my man. C'mon, I'll just sell 3/4 of the stocks for you. I still want to help this team. And I want to help you also.
Pond: Ok. It's a deal right?
Sterling: Absolutely. We'll talk about the things later but I'll ask you...Do you want to still host in the L.A.?
Pond: I'm thinking of another place like Las Vegas. But I've heard the Commisioner still do not allow the Las Vegas thingy because of the betting game.
Sterling: Yeah but we can talk to him later about that.
Pond: Aight...Gotta go. ^^

to be continue...

This looks fun to follow. Just a couple suggestions. Make the pics a little smaller maybe, so when your page gets longer it wont take forever to load and also try and make the pics the same size. It makes for a cleaner look. You have a follower in me and drop by my Thunder association if ya have the time.

Nuggets steal one from Gamblers.

Chauncey Billups chipped in 32 points and dished out 13 assists as the Nuggets beat Gamblers, 109-104.

It was a very close game but a big defensive play by the Nuggets put a gap between the two teams as Chris Andersen blocked Jannero Pargo's layup within 1:19 at the fourth quarter. Gamblers tried to comeback with Thornton and Davis both made a 3 pointer with 1 minute left. But Billups' free throws made a difference.

Baron Davis also made a double-double for his team with 20 points and 14 assists.

Gamblers - 104
B. Davis - 20, Randolph - 16, R. Davis - 16, Kaman - 14, Thornton - 12, Camby - 12, Gordon - 8, Pargo - 4, Novak - 2, Collins - 0, Hart - 0, Jordan - 0

Pargo scored his 15 out of his 19 points in the second quarter and made a big run, 21-2 blast. Baron Davis led all scorers with 22, and also led in assists with 8. Gamblers defensive plays was terrific as they only allowed Deron Williams, Jazz leader in scoring this game, with only 14 points.
