The Nuggets beat Minnesota and Houston in two easy games

Image
It was an embarassing start of the season for the Wolves.

Before the first game nobody had expected that the Nuggets could lost to the worst team in the NBA. And there was no surprise - the team led by Allen Iverson easily won in Minneapolis 102-79. The Nuggets were the better team since the first minute and during the third quarter they even improved the score difference to over 30 points. Although the last quarter was even, the visitors didn't have any problems with beating the 'Wolves. Iverson showed he'd be the leader of the team this season.

Image
The Nuggets' defense doubled Yao and he could hardly score any points.

The Nuggets came back to Colorado to show they're one of the best teams in the Midwest Division. It was supposed to be a much harder game than the previous one. Actually it was... during the first half. In the first two quarters the game was quite even but the Nuggets returned to the court much stronger and easily won their second game 93-76. However, Carmelo Anthony's aiming was so disappointing - he couldn't score standing four-five meters in front of the basket. He needs to step up if he wants to be one of the team leaders alongside Allen Iverson, who once again scored more than thirty points.

The next game is taking place in Portland against the Trail Blazers.

No stats yet because I forgot to save them after the first two games.
@-PeeBo - thanks.

Denver beats Portland in an A-class thriller

Image
Brandon Roy scored 20 points including two 3-pointers.

-- Portland, Oregon
It was definitely the best, the toughest and the most thrilling game last night. Since the first quarter neither team was able to improve their leading to more than just a few points. At the half the Blazers were leading by eight and improved it to 12 points because of the Nuggets' players' innaccuracy. In the forth quarter the difference was around 6-8 points for the hosts. Two minutes before the final whistle the visitors dropped it to three points and the score was 102-105. Surprisingly, the Nuggets stole the ball twice and scored six points in a row. Just a minute before the end the Blazers scored twice and became the leaders once again. The score was 113-110 for Portland and Denver had the ball. Carmelo Anthony quickly rushed towards the basket and easily scored two points by a bone-breaking slam dunk. Portland used their last timeout and continued the game at the half of the court. And then suddenly, the Answer came out of nowhere, stole the ball and improved the leading to three points. The hosts had the ball and just over 10 seconds to tie it up. Unfortunately for them, they didn't secure the ball well and Carmelo Anthony easily stole the ball and scored once again. It was definitely over. The Nuggets won over the Trail Blazers 118-113. If you watched that game, you'll never forget it. I'm sure I won't.

Melo's outstanding performance helps to win over the Hawks

Image
Nobody was able to stop Carmelo last night.

-- Denver, Colorado
The previous three games was not bad for Carmelo Anthony at all. He never scored less than 20 points a game. However, he only was a shadow of Allen Iverson. Thus it's not surprising that "Melo" wanted to show that he's a leader of the team alongside Al. Now we should be all sure - he is the man! He played his best game in this season so far scoring 41 points.

The first quarter started so badly for the Hawks - because of their turnovers the Nuggets scored eight points in a row. At the end of the quarter they were leading 28-18. During the second one the hosts were gradually improving the difference and at the half were leading 62-44. The second half was much more even - the third quarter was won by the Nuggets 32-31 and the forth one was surprisingly won by the Hawks 29-28. The final score was 122-104 for the Denver Nuggets.

Iverson didn't have much work to do - this time Anthony was the executioner.

The Nuggets lose to Detroit due to their inaccuracy

Image
Carmelo's poor performance was one of the causes of the Nuggets' lose.

-- Denver, Colorado

The Nuggets' forward Carmelo Anthony probably too early believed he'd become the leader of the team. He played very well against the Hawks but his performance during the game against the Pistons was so disappointing. His slam dunks were impressive as always but he couldn't score staying at a clear position just a few meters in front of the basket.

The Nuggets began the first quarter very well and were leading 5-0. However, the Pistons scored eight points in a row and finally won the quarter 28-20. The second quarter was much better for the Nuggets and they were losing 46-52 at the half. The hope has not been gone yet. Allen Iverson needed to step up and score more regularly to help his team to win the game. Unfortunately, the Nuggets completely failed in the defense and even though Iverson started playing at his best in the third quarter the Nuggets lost it 31-38. The last quarter was even and although the hosts won it 31-26 (thanks to Iverson's great performance and his NINE three-pointers) they lost the game 108-116. The Nuggets played very unevenly. Their inaccuracy (especially in the first quarter) and their poor defensive game were the main reasons that they lost to the Pistons.

Image
Iverson's 46 points were not enough to beat the Pistons.

Yes I know. I wanted to put them in a table (like the scores) but it'd have taken me too much time.

I just found out that the Bobcats haven't played any game in the season in my franny... Damn, I want to fix this bug, how can I do that?

Btw, just played two games, gonna write reports soon.

The Grizzlies eats the Nuggets for dinner

Image
Rudy Gay led the Grizzlies to an impressive win over the Nuggets.

-- Denver, Colorado
The Nuggets, who had wanted to step up and easily beat one of the worst teams in the NBA -- the Memphis Grizzlies, was probably surprised when they saw the final score. The first quarter didn't promise a disaster. It was really even and the Grizzlies won it by just two points 28-26. However, the second quarter was totally dominated by the visitors. They were scoring point by point and finally won it 33-22. In the second quarter the Nuggets only made 38.5% of their shots. At the half the score was 61-48. Carmelo Anthony was having another weak game, and Allen Iverson was not better at all. The third quarter was much better for the hosts, who won it 31-29, and still had a chance to win the game. In the forth quarter they even reduced the Grizzlies' lead to 7 points but due to a lot of missed 3-pointers they finally lost it 115-125.

Anthony's slam dunks didn't really help the Nuggets this time.

I was really surprised when I saw the Grizzlies playing so well. I screwed it up.

The Nuggets trade Carter and Jones for Maurice Williams

Carter (left) and Jones are now the players of the Milwaukee Bucks.

-- Denver, Colorado
On November 12 the Nuggets and the Bucks finalized a trade between each other. The Nuggets sent their first-team PG Anthony Carter and the forward Bobby Ray Jones (previously listed on the IR) to Milwaukee and they got the PG Maurice Williams in return. As the Nuggets' HC George Karl said: "We needed a solid point guard who can also shoot very well. In my opinion Mo Williams is a player we needed."

The Nuggets fly over the Suns

Image
Iverson and Anthony could rest during the forth quarter.

-- Denver, Colorado
It's been definitely the best game for the Nuggets in this season so far. They had never played so responsibly and maturely. The teamwork was nearly perfect, the defense played at its best and the offense was very accurate. The first quarter began of six points in a row by the Suns. However, the Nuggets immediately woke up and started to score points by points. They finally won it 33-23. The second quarter was much more even. Both teams made more than 50% of their shots and the score at the half was 59-50 for the hosts. The Suns went out of the locker room stronger, which probably helped them to score 5 out of 8 three-pointers. They won the third quarter 27-25 and only needed 7 more points to tie that up. However, they missed ten out of eleven three-pointers and the Nuggets' counterattacks were killing them. The score difference improved to over 15 points and the Nuggets' coach George Karl sent the backups onto the court. They didn't give the Suns any chance and scored 24 points out of 33 points the Nuggets scored in the last quarter. The final score was 117-92. As I said, the Nuggets' defense was very solid. They doubled Amare Stoudemire, who only scored 14 points, and let Shaq score just six points. The best player for the Suns was Steve Nash, who scored 34 points including eight 3-pointers.

Shaq will probably want to forget about his embarassing performance against the Nuggets.

I think I should drop the quarter length by a minute, don't you think?

Hmm, this actually isn't half bad. My suggestion would be to put the boxscores in a spreadsheet. You are already taking the time to include them, why not make them look nice and worth reading?

Yes, you're right. I wanted to put them in a table (like I did with the quarter scores) but it'd have taken too much time. I can attach the txt files that contain the stats though.

@Carl - thanks.
