Postby newc on Thu Jul 31, 2008 12:09 am

Hi. I am new at this forum, but i've read some of the dinasties in this section for some time and now i want to start my own. Some interesting ideas i may take from other dinasties, but i hope authors of those wont mind. I wont play all the games, because it would take too much time to end a season and i couldn't really do it if i had to play all the games. I'll play about 50% of the games. So enjoy!

Practice games announced

Today Chicago Bulls anounced that before the season they will play 6 practice games. Three before the training camp and three after. Those three last games will be played in Europe - in Spain, Latvia and Greece.

John Paxson, General Manager of Bulls:"Me and Vinny(bulls head coach) decided tha six is enough. He wanted to play three games before the camp to see what kind of players he has in reserves"

Only one of the first three games will be played in Chicago other two will be played in Golden State and Miami.

Vinny Del Negro:"I wanted three games to get known with reserve players and see what they are capable of. So I told John to find some teams, which would like to play with reserves too"

These teams are Warriors, Nets and Heat.

John Paxson:"Plus we have signed contracts for trial period with Viktor Khryapa and Jorge Garbajosa. If they show notable performance, we could sign contracts with them for this season"

Though basketball experts think that Garbajosa and Khryapa has little chances to get a contract, because Bulls already have 5 players in forward position.

Vinny Del Negro:"After these games i have promised John, that i'll make a performance report of these reserve players, so he could know which players we need to make our team perfect"

Not only deep bench players will play in these games. On court we will see players, like Noah, Thomas and Rose, who could be in starting five this season.

Vinny Del Negro:"The reason I want to see Noah and Thomas in these games is that I want to know are they enough good to play in starting five. It's identical with Rose, plus he is a Rookie."

Bulls roster for first practice games:

C Noah
C Gray
PF Thomas
PF Garbajosa
SF Nichols
SF Khryapa
SG Sefolosha
SG Curry
PG Rose

After these games, Bulls will have a training camp. And after that they will go to Europe to play the last three practice games before the upcoming season. Interesting that two games will be against two of european national teams - Spain and Greece.

John Paxson:""These games are ment to popularize basketball in european countries. I think games against Spain and Greece national teams will be really hard, because Spain has many players from NBA and many former NBA players. Meanwhile Greece has a strong team, they plays as a team. But I'll mention one player - Papaloukas. He I think is one of the best PG not playing in NBA. Last season this greek talent played in Russia and showed spectacular performance in Euroleague"

The third game will take place in Riga, Latvia. Most of people in Chicago even doesn't know that country like this exists, but now their team will play there.

John Paxson:"Well Latvia could be a mistery for a lot of funs. Latvia is the home country of GS Warriors player Andris Biedrins. So Latvia isn't unknown for NBA"

Vinny Del Negro:"In Europe we'll play with a full roster, so in those games we could see something from our this seasons play"

Full list of Bulls practice games:
1) CHI@GS
2) NJ@CHI
3) CHI@MIA
4) CHI@Spain
5) CHIvs.BOS @Latvia
6) CHI@Greece

Bulls wins the first Summer League game against Warriors

Today Bulls played they're first practice game before the season. The game was held in Oracle Arena. In the first quarter Bulls looked a bit nervous, so Golden State took over the game. With big help from Belinelli Warriors won the first qiuarter 34-26. Bulls stepped into second with more confidence and energy. They tied the game and thanks to Rose's late 2pointer grabbed the lead. Score after 1st half 60-59. Rose kept dominating in the second half. So did the Bulls and they managed to get win in the first practice game 130-107.

Thomas dunks over Turiaf. Few Bulls fans in the arena cheers him

Rose was the high point man with 44 points. He also had 14 assists, 4 steals and even 2 blocks. He self was excited about the game and his performance. Rose:"Well I really don't know what happened to me on the field. Just every shot i took, fell into the basket"

That's true because Rose shot 20/25 from the game and 4/4 from the free throw line. Meanwhile Noah added 18 points and 10 rebounds for double-double. Garbajosa in his first game for Bulls scored 24 points

Vinny Del Negro:"I really liked the game Rose showed us today, but we have to remember - this was only one game and most of the Warriors team was their reserves. I am a bit anxious about our big guys. Noah was playing well, but... only when Perovic was on the field. When he had to play against Turiaf, he was like a boy, who has just now started training in basketball, but Turiaf was like Shaq. Thomas had good game in the offensive end, but at the other side of the court he had some problems, especially against Harrington, who played only 8 minutes, but scored 16 points. I hope these two will improve their game and we'll see some better performance from them in the next games. What about others? I really can't mark any others game. About team overall - I want to see better defence, even if it means we score less points, because offense wins games, but defense wins tournaments"

Next game Bulls have at home against New Jersey Nets.

Two things.
This practice thing you are doing is called the Summer league.
Rose's real number is "1".

Okay. Your pics are way too big, and vary in size. The recap looks terrible because of it. Scale down the pics, and make them line up, and continue to revise your mistakes along the way, and you have a dynasty.

Chicago can cheer. Bulls wins second Summer League game

This time Bulls played at home against New Jersey Nets. This game was big test for Noah and Thomas, because in NJ Nets starters was two good big guys - rookie center Lopez and Chinese power forward Yi Jianlian. The Bulls started it pretty cold, but they managed to tie up the game close to en of first quarter, which ended 31-28 for Nets. Second was going just right the first until the mid of quarter... Rose was driving to the rim, but on the way he hit Lopez and fell on the floor. The crowd just sighed. Rose with help of his team mates walked to the bench. Curry got on the floor to substitute him. Rose didn't return on the court, but his team continued to fight. End of first half 61-57. In the absence of Rose, Bulls found another leader - Jorge Garbajosa. He played really well, he shot from under the basket, from mid range and three pointers and he was successful. After the third score was 87-86 in favour of Bulls. In the last quarter Garbajosa's great played joined Thomas, who was dominating the paint. The game ended with a Bulls victory 122-110

Image
Garbajosa was hot tonight. He scored 42 points grabbed 5 rebs and made 5 assists

The best players for Bulls was Garbajosa with 42 points and Thomas with 34 and 6 steals. Curry successfully replaced Rose with 10 points, 5 assists and 5 steals.
The high point man for Nets was B.Lopez with 21 point and 10 rebounds, including 6 offensive rebs. M.Williams added 13 points and 10 assists.

Image
Thomas continued last games great performance in the offense.

Vinny Del Negro:"My hopes for a better defence didn't materialize in this game, but thankfully we won. Of course we missed Rose, but thankfully his injury isn't serious and he'll be playing in next game. I really liked the way Thomas played tonight. He scored many points and didn't let Yi do the same. On the other hand Noah played pretty bad defensively. Yeah he had 13 rebounds, but Lopez grabbed 6 offensive rebs. Game at Miami will be our last in Summer League this year, so I hope players won't dissapoint me"

Next game @Miami

Bulls wins third game in a row

Game against Heat was a matchup of first two this years draft picks Rose and Beasley. So spectators was waiting a great match. The first quarter showed where this was going - Bulls took an early lead and ended first quarter up by 13, 31-18 was the 1st quarters score. Second was even a bigger disappointment for Miami fans, because their team hadn't anything against Bulls game. The first half ended 67-40, with a big lead for Bulls. That's why in the second half we only saw reserve players playing for Bulls, while starting 5 relaxed on the bench. That was the main reason why Miami started reduce the big Bulls lead. After 3rd they had only minus 17 and a little tiny chance of winning this. In last quarter they got pretty close, but thanks to Khryapa's good play, Bulls managed to win this, 114-106

Image
This years Rookie of the Year award candidates Rose and Beasley

5 best players of the game:

C M.Blount scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. But most of it he was able to do, when Gray was on the field.

PF M.Beasley - Rookie showed a spectacular performance tonight with 29 points and 13 rebounds shooting 13/19 from the field. Is he the next NBA superstar?

SF V.Khryapa surprised everyone, including himself, today. He scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebs. Will this be a serious reason for Bulls to keep him?

SG D.Rose played only the first quarter, but still was the best player of the game with 25 points, 6 assists and 6 steals.

M.Chalmers was really helping Beasley to get him easy points. He made 17 assists tonight, adding 14 points.

Vinny Del Negro:"This was our last game in Summer League. Our defense hasn't improved yet, but we still have training camp ahead. About this game - reserves really pleased me tonight. Of course there was some bad things and plays, but that's way they'll be bench players when season starts"

I like the idea of the Top 5 players of the game. Like others said, boxscores would be great, but otherwise, nice work here.

Bulls main aim in training camp was to improve their defence

No one avoided battling for better position, shot or for ball

Gordon was trying to improve his 3pt shooting

Players played 1-on-1 to improve their individual skills

They were also playing 5-on-5 to improve team play
