Isiah Thomas is fired from the GM spot

Team Owner James Dolan decided to fire General Manager Isiah Thomas, leaving Isiah as Head Coach. The team wants to go in a new direction for the 08-09 season and find a General Manager that can make the franchise a contender once again . Owner James Dolan has not yet found a General Manager but he is going to make a decision soon. The new General Manager will be signed before the 2009 NBA Draft so that he will be able to pick the best fit for the team. Owner James Dolan also stated that the new General Manager will also get to decide if they should keep Head Coach Isiah Thomas or fire him.

I think you should trade some of your guards, you are really loaded on that position.

Maybe trade Marbury for a better small forward and let Nate takeover at the point?
Or maybe bundle Marbury and Robinson to get a star point guard?

Donnie Walsh Hired

After owner James Dolan fired General Manager Isiah Thomas from the GM spot, he has now hired former general manager of the Pacers Donnie Walsh. Walsh was selected by the Philadelphia Warriors in the NBA draft, but never played in the NBA. He was GM of the Pacers since 1987 through 2002. Owner James Dolan held a press confernce later on about Donnie getting hired and Walsh said "That he is going to make a complete overhaul of the roster and he will do what's right for the Knicks to get them into the play-offs". He later said to the press that he is promising to make the New York Knicks franchise, a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference.

Robinson and Lee resign, Balkman moves on

The Knicks were quick to Re-Sign their up and coming stars. Nate Robinson, the Knick's backup point guard, got rewarded with a big contract. Even with Robinson coming off the bench, the Knicks still rewarded him with a big contract because during the season Stephon Marbury had a horrible injury wich left him out for the rest of the season. Robinson steped up to his level and played well enough to earn each single penny of his contract. The Knicks signed him to a 3 year/19.03 million contract. David Lee, the Knick's back up Center, was signed for a 3 year/17.68 million contract. Renaldo Balkman did not want to resign and decided to go to the Free Agency Market.

Malik Rose Traded

The New York Knicks have just reported that they have traded PF Malik Rose for Orlando's First Round Pick (15th Overall). Details weren't given about why he got traded but GM Donnie Walsh said he wanted young talented kids form the draft in the team and that the Knicks wish Rose good luck. He graduated from Drexel University with All-American honors after leading the Dragons to their lone NCAA Tournament victory. Rose was originally drafted in 1996 in the 2nd round by the Charlotte Hornets. Rose is the second Drexel basketball player to participate in the NBA, following Michael Anderson. He was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1997, and quickly became one of their more popular players due to his displays of hustle, defense, and skill despite being undersized. Rose was on the Spurs' NBA championship teams in 1999 and 2003. On February 24, 2005, Rose was traded along with a pair of first round draft picks to the New York Knicks for Nazr Mohammed and Jamison Brewer, much to the dismay of Spurs fans.
