Postby hiro312 on Fri Mar 21, 2008 6:46 pm

Hi, I have been browsing the forums for 4 years now and i have just decided to join in and create my own dynasty story. I'm not trying to copy anyone here but I'm going to try my best to make my dynasty interesting like the best the dynasty here in the forums.

Recent interview with GM Ed Stefanski

What direction are you planning to take with rebuilding the Sixers?
- Well, there is no pressure from the upper management to try and fix it quickly. I've been discussing certain scenarios with the upper management and coach Mo Cheeks. One thing is clear, there are going to be changes in the roster.

What are the specific positions are you looking for?
- Right now it's very clear that we need an inside presence, someone who can score. It might be a young guy or a veteran who still in his prime.

You have a lot of cap space, are you looking to trade for someone good even with a large contract or are you going to use it after the season?
- It's hard to tell, I can't say I'm not going to use it. What if for some reason Pat Riley called me and said "Hey, would you like Wade for that cap space?. We are looking at all the possible scenarios, even the almost impossible ones.

Thank you Mr. Stefanski, anything you like to add or say to the Sixers fans?
- We have a lot of young players, guys like Thaddeus Young and Andre Iguodala. The future is bright for the Sixers Franchise and I hope to see you supporting our team this year.

Two 6-man trade: Done Deal!
Image

Sixers President and GM Ed Stefanski with Coach Mo Cheeks at Sixers press conference
Image

Reporter: What made you do this trades and who initiated it?
Stefanski: The coaching staff and I were discussing a lot possible trade scenarios and I have been talking to a lot of teams. I was the one who initiated the Milwaukee trade because we felt that Yi is going to be a great player someday and we think he is a capable scorer that we really need. We completed the trade even though we had to take Gadzuric and his contract, we only lost more than 2M in cap space and it was worth it. Golden State called me up and asked if Miller was available and I said yes. The Iguodala part was only discussed when we were already serious about trading Miller.

Image

Reporter: Coach, what do you think of the trades?
Cheeks: I like it a lot, I was the one pushing to trade for Yi even before the draft and we also failed to land him during the draft. President Stefanski thought that it would be great for the Chinese community here in Philadelphia. When I heard about the management talking about the trade with Golden State I quickly called President Stefanski and asked if Monta Ellis is involved and I really pushed him to go ahead with trade even though we are going to lose Iguodala in the process.

Dan Gadzuric, Ramon Sessions

Al Harrington: I think that we have a great group of young players and being one of the veterans of the team I know they will be looking for me to lead them.

Cheeks: It's hard to lose players like Iguodala and Miller. They are the top two scorers of the team. But this team we have right now is special. This team is going to focus more on a up tempo style of play and as well as try be one of the best defensive and rebounding teams.

Game Update

Sixers 89 Raptors 82

Cheeks: I thought we were done in the game when Dalembert and Al went out early in the game with injuries. Lucky for us Monta and Yi stepped up and Dalembert came back and had a double-double.

Image
Monta: I think we did pretty good job on the defensive end. We couldn't stop Calderon(30 pts) so we focused on defending Bosh and the other guys. We have a lot of adjusting to do but it was good 1st game with a lot of new guys.

:idea:After the game Al Harrington and Samuel Dalembert went to the hospital to get their injuries checked.

Sixers looking for some veteran help

Image

Cheeks: We think that we need some help at the small forward and at the same time we also need that veteran presence in the locker room. We offered the full MLE and we hope he can contribute leadership and experience to this very young team.

Williams: I'm not looking to be a scorer in here. They told me my role is to defend the best player on the other team, hit the occasional 3 and give the young guys some advice.

it's unrealistic you've acquired 6 new players in 3 days

Well, its usually not as fun to do a dynasty when you trade half your team at the beginning of the season. (believe me, it is) Still, this is well-presented, and the trades are at least fair. Good luck with this one. I was going to do a Sixers dynasty myself before half the forum decided to make one. :P

@Deathbringer

Thanks for the reply, i don't think the trade or acquiring 6 players is unrealistic. But doing it before the season start is unrealistic.

@lamrock93

Thanks for the positive reaction. Yeah, I tried hard to make the trades as fair as possible

Game Update

Sixers 79 Bulls 70

Cheeks: We were down in the first half but we were able to come back into the game with hustle and defense. Again Yi and Monta came through for us, and if this is any indication of what the future those two will bring into this organization then we have no regret trading for them.

Harrington: It was a good game. I had to sit in the bench most of the game cause of my injury, but y'all can see how tough these young guys are. Monta was a beast in the 4th, I think he had 15 pts in the 4th.

Image
Yi: Coach told me to relax and don't feel pressured. But I told myself that I have to be more aggressive with Harrington not 100% and Dalembert out. Good thing Reggie was there to help me with the boards all I had to focused on was the offense.

   Sidelines

Secretary: President Stefanski, I have Dalembert's agent outside.

Stefanski: Let him in.

Agent: Good afternoon Ed.

Stefanski: Good afternoon, what can I do for you?

Agent: I just want to ask you what is the future of Dalembert here? I mean you just picked up a lot of youth with the recent trade and you drafted Thaddeus.

Stefanski: Dalembert is goind to be our Center. He is still very young with a nice contract. We don't have plans of trading him. 2-3 years from now he is going to be in his prime and I think with our core of young guys right now we are going to be championship contender by that time.

Agent: Glad to hear that he is in for the long haul. Then I don't have to worry about him going somewhere else. Thank you for your time Ed.

Nice win, and I like how you have the players reactions as the recaps. Rather original. (Y) One question: Why didn't Dalembert play in the Bulls game?

:!: Yi injured
Image

Cheeks:We have been trailing the whole time and it is harder to come back when the players gets injured. Now we have our three main big men with injuries. We just have to keep our focus and try to get healthy again.

Monta:I think my team is going to look for me a lot now that we have three main guys nursing with injuries. Coach told me I have to be more aggressive in the next games. I think Thaddeus and Willie Green has to step up their game for us to win in the next games.

 Yi got injured the same day the Sixers launched their new ad campaign.

Agreed with Skillmatic, this is pretty good, too bad you lost Iggy, Miller and Louis, but you got back great young players, seems like you and 76ers have bright future ahead. Good luck (Y)

I dont like Iguodala, so good job trading him. (Y)
It looks unrealistic to adquire 6 players in 3 days but you dont have the chance to start in the offseason. So it's justified.
