Hey guys, for those who are following this dynasty, I have a 5 day break until my next game against the Rockets. And i was wondering what you guys thought: Should I try and get some trades done before then or should I leave my team as is for now?

DISCLAIMERS NOTE:

Hey guys I'm fairly new here but im going to try and put my hands on this. This will be the NBA Live 06 version on gamecube and the team I will be using are the Utah Jazz, with no modified rosters. Meaning I will be looking to take the lowest rated team available (69) and get em in tip top shape for possible NBA Championship potential! Utah, in the 06 version, are very weak in most aspects of their game, they don't have a decent bench. There only hopes of winning is if there starting 5 stays on the court for the whole game. I have tried this and learned that once the entire bench or most of it is on the court, everything goes a little downhill. Which is why I chose them, I like challenges! Utah is going to have a long way to go before getting to the top ranks with San Antonio, Phoenix or maybe even Dallas but thats a risk Im willing to take with them. I will be adding myself as a rookie, overall will NOT exceed more than 74 or maybe even lower than that. If you want to know more about my created player, then follow this dynasty! As i said before, rosters are all default and unchanged, my starting 5 is the same with Deron Williams and co. in the lineup. I will, however, begin my Dynasty by simming the entire 2005-2006 season so I can start the story from the draft etc.. So really this will be a 2006-2007 Dynasty. Everything else, such as, rules for the Draft and etc.. will be covered when the Draft actually happens. But as of right now, if you remember anything about the 2006 Utah Jazz and might want to help me or give some tips on what they need help in, like a Center or a Shooting Guard, etc... then please let me know as I will take all your thoughts into consideration. Iam looking to go as far as 6-8 seasons with Utah (not counting the simmed season) so this will be very much a dedicated Dynasty. Other than everything I mentioned, I hope you enjoy this Dynasty as I will be working really hard to give you guys an excellent Dynasty coverage of the Utah Jazz. Also, please do not post until notified, please. ENJOY!

Are you going to follow the next season more closely? Cause otherwise this is like the most boring dynasty story ever.

EDIT: However, if you do follow up with more detailed analysis of the dynasty, this has potential.

Ah, foolish me. I did not read the intro. I suppose I should have.

Anyway, good luck. The presentation is off to a good start, at least.

2006-2007 NBA Offseason

Postby A4JUBEEZY on Sun Sep 02, 2007 2:13 pm

"Utah Looking for Impact Players Off The Bench"

Image
"Jerry Sloan (above) ready for big changes in Utah"

NBA All Access: As the 2006-2007 season comes rolling by, Jerry Sloan and the utah Jazz are looking to make major changes in the roster, meaning no one is safe! They have 4 stars entering free agency and we have just been informed that most likely none of them will be resigned! Of course the bunch includes, Matt Harpring, Keith McLeod, Ben Handlogten and Jason Collins. Apparently this will free up some Cap room for the Jazz and maybe they can look for a more young self proven shooting guard as Brent Barry won't cut it as there starter. In most positions, the Point Guard battle between Deron Williams and Jon Fajardo is still the same. Even though Fajardo is quicker and more versatile than Deron, Coach Sloan still wants Deron to start and feels Jon is much more of a scorer off the bench than in the line up. The Small Forward position is a toss up as Matt Harpring is the only backup SF the Jazz has, so maybe the Jazz will be keeping a player afterall? The Power Forward position off the bench is going to be a toughy as Kris Humphries just isn't and probably will not show any improvement. You know what? Just to make this short, the Jazz will need a lot of help getting some decent bench players for their front court because they kept getting beaten up last year in the paint. If the Jazz play there cards right, I think they have a decent chance of getting the players they need if they draft smart, trade smart and play smart. With that we leave you with the remaining Utah Jazz roster and follow that by taking you to the NBA draft Lottery in New York City.

The Remaining Roster:

#13 M. Okur (C)| Yrs. Remain: 4
#5 C. Boozer (PF)| Yrs. Remain: 4
#47 A. Kirilenko (SF)| Yrs. Remain: 5
#17 B. Barry (SG)| Yrs. Remain: 2
#32 J. Fajardo (PG)| Yrs. Remain: 1
#8 D. Williams (PG)| Yrs. Remain: 3
#15 M. Harpring (SF)| Yrs. Remain: 0
#10 G. Giricek (SG)| Yrs. Remain: 2
#25 K. McCleod (PG)| Yrs. Remain: 0
#34 C. Miles (SG)| Yrs. Remain: 1
#43 K. Humphries (PF)| Yrs. Remain: 2
#44 B. Handlogten (C)| Yrs. Remain: 0
#31 J. Collins (C)| Yrs. Remain: 0

Utah Jazz to Resign Matt Harpring

Image
Matt Harpring (above) has been told that he will remain a Utah Jazz

NBA All Access- In a surprising twist, the Utah Jazz decided to keep Matt Harpring on the roster. It was Sloans decision to keep him because not only was he the only backup for AK47, but he plays with heart and passion and thats the type of character Sloan needs on his team. When told about the news, Harpring was excited and wordless as he thought he wouldve been dropped and forgotten by all Jazz fans and temmates. Well Matt, looks like you wont have to worry about that. Your with Utah for good! In other transactions around the league:

 Caron Butler will re-sign with the Wizards on a 39.38M deal for 5 years.
 Jason Terry of Dallas will re-sign with the deal undisclosed.
 Gerald Wallace of Charlotte will re-sign getting paid 42.59M over the next 5 years!
 Drew Gooden from Cleveland will re-sign for 31.10M for 4 years and Donyell Marshall WILL test the free agency and will leave his NBA Championship team.
 Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry both have agreed to resign with terms undisclosed to Chicago.
 Big Ben of Detroit will re-sign with Detroit with terms undisclosed
 Yao Ming of Houston for 40.97M for the next 3 years.
 Gary Payton of Los Angeles has announced his retirement from the league. Payton has stated that this was simply his time and he had to go.
 Mike Dunleavy and Jason Richardson both have agreed to resign with Golden State with terms undisclosed.
 Joe Johnson of Phoenix has bailed out on Phoenix and will be on the market for any team who needs a self proven shooting guard

NBA All Access: Not a lot of movement this offseason. But maybe things will get interesting during the trades. But if I were Utah, Id try and find a way to snag Joe Johnson or trade for decent starting Shooting guard!

Free Agent Market

Postby A4JUBEEZY on Sun Sep 02, 2007 6:15 pm

Big Player Movements = New Hope for Teams?

Image
Joe Johnson was one of many players signed to help bolster teams

NBA All Access- Well unfortuantely for the Jazz, they are over the Salary Cap so they could not participate in the signing of free agents. But just like Jerry Sloan, he has gathered in possible trade deals with many teams for specific players. The problem is, will the teams accept the trade offers? I guess well have to wait and find out. Meanwhile, here are the list of KEY PLAYER MOVEMENTS in the offseason:
 Joe Johnson signs with Atlanta
 Donyell Marshall signs with New Orleans
 Michael Redd joins Charlotte
 Al Harrington sign with Chicago
 Tayshaun Prince signs with Milwaukee

NBA All Access- Unfortunately again, for the Jazz, the trading period wasn't so successful as they had a hard time getting something together. They now look to get scraps from the free agency and/or lucky trades during the regualr season. Sorry to all Utah fans but I dont think this year will be better than last year.

2006-2007 Off Season Staff Signing

Postby A4JUBEEZY on Sun Sep 02, 2007 6:28 pm

Bad News for Jazz Roster, Good News for Jazz Staff

Image
Jerry Sloan looking to make something out of nothing this season.
NBA All Access- Well since the Utah Roster didn't get a upgrade whatsoever, why not upgrade the coaching staff eh? Well thats exactly what Sloan did hiring Brenton Watson as the new Assistant Coach:

Branton Watson (Assistant Coach) [Overall: B][Spec.:Guard][Contract Length: 3 Yrs]
 "I accept your contract offer, and look forward to joining your team."

Utah Jazz 2005-2006 Offseason Summary:

NBA All Access: This offseason was of no help to the Jazz. They still have no bench production. The only two who can possibly make an impact off the bench are Jon Fajardo and Gordon Giricek! Their number 1 draft pick, Dean Karpovtsez (C) is still unproven although his inside scoring is spectacular. But we still dont know what he can do. Maybe the resigning of Matt Harpring wasnt so smart after all? Their bench is VERY young with 3 rookies warming it up. I dont know how the Jazz are going to survive this season with such a weak bench but if they manage to do better than last season thats a straight up miracle! Looks like its going to have to be up to the starting 5 plus Fajardo and Giricek to do things...again. I tell you this though I think they should trade off Barry for a younger hopeful. But that looks to be impossible as no one seems to be interested unless someone else from the Jazz's starting 5 is pulled in the trade. Jerry Sloan really is tied against the wall here. Hopefully he has the patience to develop his young team. But overall, the Jazz's offseason- D+. Sorry guys. Good luck this season, though.

Dynasties that are played on the consoles tend to have a lot more in-depth information to make up for things such as screen shots and things that we can't see. I like the idea, keep up the good work man.

2006-2007 Utah Jazz Overview

Postby A4JUBEEZY on Mon Sep 03, 2007 4:52 am

Coaches Journal
Entry #1
 Well I honestly don't know about this season. Our starting 5 is still solid but our bench is going to get beat up! Im hoping Jon Fajardo, Gordon Giricek and Dean can stay healthy because they are the only 3 I can really count on off the bench. Harpring isn't bad either but I honestly think we should've never resigned him. But if he can prove something to us then maybe there is hope in keeping him. I feel sorry for my frontcourt because they have no REAL support behind them. Okurs backup is a rookie and Boozers backup is an unproven player. Im going to need to think up of a scheme to get into atitle contention or at least do better than last season. Im thinking of maybe doing a 9-man roatation. Giving my frontcourt and backcourt a lot more playing time. I think they can endure an extra 2-3 minutes than their average last year. But hopefully everything goes well this season. Sloan out!

Entry #2
 Okay well its our home opener against a tough Seattle team. Our main concerns will be Rey Allen and Rashard Lewis who seem to have claimed their spots on that team as the two main scorers. I have no problem with my matchup against Rashard and Andrei as AK47 is a versatile enough player to stop him from anywhere. However, I think Allen will be too fast for Barry to catch up with so my gameplan is to trap Allen or double him whenever he gets the ball. I want to start off the game pounding it inside as they have a weak frontcourt. I will try and spread the offense so I can let Deron work the defense and find ways of scoring as Luke Ridnour is a much weaker player than Deron so he can get bullied easily and force some fouls. Benchwise, I dont think we'll have to matchup because Seattles bench is as poor as ours, being led by Nate Collison. i dont think we'll have a problem defending their bench. Our bench however is led by Jon Fajardo who i have confident in as to getting points for us. This is his year to shine if he takes that opportunity. I think my team will do pretty good today. Sloan out!

Outcome:
Toss Up

Deron Williams comeback does not overcome Lewis and co.

1st Quarter- Well this was a pretty slow paced game in the early going as Utah missed their first 4 shots until Deron hooked up with Boozer for a 2+ foul shot. Utah struggled in the bit falling behind 10-2 but once there fast break game got rolling they went on a 8-0 run to tie it up. Since that, its been a back and forth competition. During the game, Ray Allen and Deron Williams both drew 2 fouls taking them out of the game early and maybe for most of the 2nd quarter. So for Seattle the presure is on Lewis to get things rolling in the 2nd and for Utah its up to Jon to lead that team and get some points. This has been a low scoring quarter for both teams with Rashard Lewis leading all scorers with 9 points. But on the other hand. Kirilenko has been showing some energy with 2 blocks and 4 boards and 1 steal. Someone is going to have to step up soon! (SEA- 19 | UTAH- 17)
2nd Quarter- Fouls fouls fouls!!!! Utah will not win this game if they continue to foul! The scoring got much better... for Seattle. Utah is still struggling from all points of the court. Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis and Luke Ridnour are all just messing with the Jazz right now. Rashard has 15 points, Luke- 10 and Allen wih 8. Meanwhile Utah's main scoroer is Brent Barry with 7 points. Im telling you, if Utah wants to to win this they will need to step it up a notch. Deron is doing good with 4 assists and 2 points, but he can do better. Kirilenko needs to step it up as he only has 4 points, 5 rebounds. And the fouls, Utah has fouled Seattle 8 times already and has committed 10 turnovers, 8 of which were all steals! Utah... DO SOMETHING! (SEA- 47 | UTAH- 38)
3rd Quarter- This is the kinda of stuff im talking about. The Jazz came out shooting and blocking. Of course being led by AK47. Kirilenko is certainly the heart of this team as he ends the 3rd quarter with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 blocks and 3 steals! They started the 3rd on a 10-0 run which Seattle quickly stopped with the sharshooting of Rashard Lewis who now has 26 points, 7 boards and 2 assists. If they can stop Rshard from shooting then I think Utah can pull the upset here. J. Fajardo hasn't seen much playing time as he only has 4 points 1 rebound and 1 assist. Deron on the hand, has 4 points, 7 assists and 2 steals. So everything is starting to look up in some aspects for the team. (SEA- 64 | UTAH- 61)
4th Quarter- Wow what a heartbreaker for the Jazz. They had this i nthe bag but they let it go. Seattle gave it to them and they didnt know how to respond, that is until late in the 4th when Deron Williams began knockin 5/6 of this 3 pointers to get his team to within 2. But Rashard Lewis kept answering back ending the game with 35 points 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Ridnour did his thing by adding 21 points and 9 assists with Rey Allen adding 16 and 5 assists. Utah needs to take in some serious consideration as to how they're going to approach their next game. (SEA- 93 | UTAH- 89)

AIR JORDAN PLAYER OF THE GAME:
Image
Rashard Lewis
35 points | 7 rebounds | 3 assists | 2 steals | 6 turnovers | 14/30[FG]: .467 | 4/6[3pt]: .667 | 3/4[FT]: .750 | 1 Off. Board | 6 Def. Boards

San Antonio Spurs @ Utah Jazz Preview

Postby A4JUBEEZY on Mon Sep 03, 2007 9:30 am

San Antonio Spurs (0-1) vs Utah Jazz (1-1)
November 2, 2006 7:30pm

Coaches Journal
Entry #3
 We are certainly going to have our hands full today with the San Antonio Spurs. Since they lost in the first round, expect them to be angry and ready to shoot. Our main concern is no other than Tim Duncan. The teams whole offense revolves around him. We take him out, it can cause a big problem. We will need to double team him but be smart about it because he can patient and find the open man. Tony PArker can squeeze through any hole and score or dish. I think if he gets in a rhythm we can stop him with our zone, maybe a 1-3-1. Manu Ginobli was born to shoot, if he's open expect the ball to sink in everytime. He's no one to be left open...at all! There 3 and 4 man are a little weird, they have Robert Horry as a 4 and starting Devin Brown (SG) as a small forward. If thats there game then we MUST use it and give the ball to AK47 at all times. This should be an easy matchup for him if we give him room to work. There bench isnt in tip top shape but they have enough fire power to get the job done. We just need to control the ball and time and be calm. We must not try and get in a shoot out game with them because we will easily lose. We just need to be smart and hope for the best. Sloan Out.

Outcome:
San Antonio wins
