Sixers downed Lakers with late run

The first quarter began very balanced, so the Sixers found themselves tied 12-12 in the middle of the quarter.
Then the crowd got something to cheer about, as Andre Iguodala made an 'and-one' two handed throwdown over Sasha Vujacic.
After he completes the three-point play by hitting the free throw, Allen Iverson stole the ball from Kobe Bryant, ran a 2 on 1 fastbreak and finished an alley-oop play with Iguodala.
The Lakers played solid in the opening frame, and, however, the game was tied 25-25 after first.
The 2nd quarter was pretty much of the same, the Sixers led 46-45 at halftime.
The 2nd half began pretty good for Philadelphia as Andre Iguodala, 14 Points in the contest, hit a trey in the first attack.
In the 4th period it was Chris Webber, Double-Double with 17 points and 10 boards, who hit two free throws to gave the Sixers their biggest lead of the night with 10 points(86-76).
At the score 88-80 it was Allen Iverson who came up big. He had the ball and brang it up court, at this moment he got 26 points, and the crowd began to scream 'MVP'.
That was his moment, he drove to the bucket for two and after a Lakers' backcourt vialation he hit the J for his 30th point. He finished with 34 and 7.
The Sixers held up the lead to win this contest 106-90.

Its always interesting to see a Philly dynasty with A.I. still on that team. Are you planning on keeping him?

Great presentation, this is kind of making me miss NBA Live 06 lol.

Nice win also. You kind of held Kobe down.
I'm not surprised by the MVP chants for Iverson, because if he keeps this up all season he will be the MVP.

Everyone thoght this will be a close one, but the Sixers proved the opposite early.
The game started horrible for the Kings as they were shooting 5/17 and 0/8 from behind the arc.
The Sixers knew how to take advantage from the low-percentage shooting of the Kings as they were up 17-6 in the middle of the quarter.
The first frame was won 29-12 by the Sixers as Allen Iverson scores 13 points, more than the whole Kigns squad.
The starting five would not be return throughout the game.
Altough the bench was playing the whole 2nd quarter the score at halftime was 45-30. (The Kings won that period only with a point.)
As mentioned earlier the starting five only played in the first quarter, means that the Sixers continue the second half like they ended the first - with bench players.
As result came up an easy win, the Kings would win the following quarters (23-25, 22-26), but they never came close enough to tie the game.
The final socre was 90-81
Steven Hunter was the high scoring man for the Sixers with 15 points shooting 7 for 13, following by Shavlik Randolph and AI, both with 13.
Mike Bibby finished with 17 to lead all scores, Kevin Ollie lead the game in assists (5).

Sixers win a close one, finishing pre-season undefeated
3rd quarter intervention

Image86-84Image
Click score for boxscore

Image

The Sixers were down at the half 29-45 with only 13 of 29 shooting, Allen Iverson had 9 Points to lead all Sixers' scores.
So the Hawks took a comfortable lead into the 3rd quarter as AI continued to struggle from the field shooting 2 of 7 in the 3rd.
Allen Iverson had to find another way to score, means he would help his teammates to put the basketball into the bucket.
He finished with incredible 12 dishes whose helped Samuel Dalambert to 10 points in the 3rd quarter. Philadelphia would win thes quarter 26-20.
But the Hawks didnt want a comeback of the Sixers, espacially Joe Johnson who was smokin with 26 points. It seems he'd hit every mid-range jumper he gets.
The Sixers started a run in the 4th; looking to turn things around. Steven Hunter brang some fresh blood off the bench and grabbed 2 offensive rebounds following 2 points each.
The run would continue as the Sixers hit back to back three pointers one from Korver, one from AI's backup Kevin Ollie while the Hawks struggled in the 4th period shooting only 7/19.
So the Sixers were able to cut the deficit from the half (16 points) into a tie game at 80.
The tie held up till the final possesions with the score 84-84. Allen Iverson got isolated, and with 5 seconds left, he made a jumper at the top of the circle. It hit the rim but it would roll in for two.
The Hawks called a time out. Tyronn Lue found Al Harrington for an open j but he couldn't convert. So the game ended 86-84 in favor of the Sixers.
Altough Allen Iverson had 12 assists he lead the Sixers in scoring with 22. Chris Webber shined too, dropping in 20 points. Andre Iguodala struggled all night with 4 points.
So the Sixers finished the pre-season undefeated and the are looking to continue that streak in the season.

Disappointing for Iggy to only get 4 and 4... Oh well, I hope he can emerge as an all-star during the regular season.

The Sixers have anounced the schedule of November. The first week will be tough, although they are all at the Wachovia Center. But the hardest games will definitely be in Phoenix and at home against Dallas.

I've simmed until 29th of October, the Heat had their first season game ... and guess what ... Shaq's already injured. kinda made me laugh
