2006-2007
How will the Warriors do in Nelson's run and gun system? Can they end their 13 year streak of not making the playoffs? We'll find out:
Image (Thanks boomdizzle for this image haha)

The roster at the beginning of the season looked like this:

PG S. Jasikevicius 69
PG B. Davis 88
SG D. Brown 72
SG J. Richardson 86
SG M. Ellis 62
SG A Owens 67
SF S. Jackson 74
SF. M. Barnes 72
SF M. Pietrus 70
PF A. Harrington 82
PF Z. Cabarkapa 66
PF J. Powell 59
C A. Biedrins 67
C A. Foyle 63
C P. O'Bryant 61

Things looked promising for the team and Jason Richardon in training camp made a bold promise
We WILL make the playoffs, garunteed. I have no doubt in my mind that we will. The trade for Harrington and Jackson is really going to help us and Coach is going to make us even a better team. Last year was unexplainable, I apologize again for last season.

The warriors however stumbled out of the gate
Image

*note I took all of these pictures at the end of the season, so the final record is there and so is the final team chemistry which was much different that in the beginning. Also sorry about the bars, when you take pictures of a TV that happens.

The Warriors only managed to post an 8-8 record with poor chemistry being the reason to blame.

"We got too many backups complaining about playing time." said Davis "We need them to practice hard to make the starters better, there hurting the bonds between the team. It seems like its the starters vs. the reserves. We need to come together."

Unknowingly to the players, management was looking to shake the team up a bit and made a surprising trade on December 1st.

"The Warriors today would like to announce that we have traded for the number 1 draft pick Andrei Bargaini. We wish the best to Foyle and O'Bryant" said GM Chris Mullin

Many of the Warriors were pretty happy about the trade, and it seemed to free up some more time for players after Bargaini was moved to Center:
Image

However the team failed to show any real improvements and the team only had a 14-18 record heading into the new year,
Image

chemistry was still a concern:

"We need more Team events to bond together" Davis said. Harrington echoed his sentiments pleading for the coaching staff to hold more.

more to come later... I'll explain what happened in the season ....

In January things seemed to pick up as more team events occured:
Image

However, even though the team had a better rating than the Spurs, the Warriors were playing sub-.500 ball while the Spurs were 2nd in the league. (I still don't understand what was going on, but whatever) Injuries were not too big of a problem only Biedrins got injured and only for a few weeks.

Notable trades in January
Ray Allen was traded for Kenyon Martin.
Troy Murphy was traded for Joel Pryzbilla.

Image

In February the team began to play like they should have all season, but dropped a few games towards the end of the month. After falling 500 games under .500 (19-24, the team rattled off 8 consecutive victories from the end of January up until the week before the allstar break.

"We're finally starting to click, I think we can get into the playoffs if we keep playing like this" said Davis right as Allstar Weekend came around. "But we haven't done anything yet, we're still only about 6 games over .500 and we think we can do much much better.

After the allstar break the team dropped 4 of ther 5 games bringing their record to right around .500 again. The trade deadline has passed without any major trades.

Image

In March, things started out slowly, but in the 2nd half of the month team chemistry started to really improve and the team began another impressive win streak.

"Too be honest I'm a little surprised that we've won 7 games in a row" said Coach Nelson "We have been playing like a lottery team all season and not playing consistently at all. Even if we qualify [for the playoffs] It's going to be tough to do anything in the postseason if we can't play like a team".

Image
April saw the warriors win their first 3 games, before the spurs ended their win streak at 10. Notable wins during the streak included winning on the road against the Suns (who had the lague best record) and blowing out the SPurs at home (both games in later march). The Warriors CLINCHED a playoff spot early in April, but after losing their final 3 games dropped down to the 7th seed.

Image

"I told all of ya" Richardson said with a smile. "I'm not completely satisfied though, I really feel like we can make a deep run, but losing our last 3 games is not a great way to end the season"

Surprisingly the Jazz made the playoffs after starting 2-12.
Tomrrow I'll have game by game recaps as I'll actually play those games.

Update
The Warriors would earn the 7th seed in the west and looked foward to their matchup with the Spurs:

Davis: "Don't think we'll just fold. We're gonig to try to shock the world. We are not gonig to get swept."

His optimism was shared by his teammates but Nelson had different ideas:

"Honestly if we get one game, I'll be truly surprised. The Spurs are a great team, they have all the pieces that they need; a good starting lineup and a solid bench. They have a great chance to sweep my Schmoes"

Game 1: Warriors stave off Spurs rally and Barry's 62!

Davis and the rest of the Warriors looked to prove Nelson wrong and in the first quarter came out firing on all cylinders and took an early 40-22 lead at the end of the first. The Spurs crowd booed emphatically, and the only thing that went wrong for the Warriors was that both Harrington and Davis picked up 2 fouls in the 1st quarter. Brent Barry and Michael Finley started in place of Ginobili and Parker for unknown reasons and while Finley only managed to pick up 2 fouls, Barry was able to score 13 points in the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter with Davis, Harrington, and Bargaini (stamina concerns) on the bench, the Spurs were able to mount an comeback with Barry leading the way. His 3 with 5 minutes left in the quarter brought the spurs within one. However after a timeout called by Nelson, all the starters returned and pushed the lead back to 6 at the half.

In the 3rd the Warriors were able to push the lead back up to 16 again and managed to hold it until the end of the quarter. Manu Ginobilli finally checked in when Finley picked up his 4th foul with 3 minutes left in the quarter. Finley left fustrated after being called for back to back fast break charges.

THe 4th quarter saw the Spurs rally again around Barry as he continued to torch the Warriors. Davis still in foul trouble was forced to back off and Barry repeatedly hit threes in his face. Finley checked back in with 5 minutes left, and hit a jumper and then threw an outlet to Horry who finished a dunk with a foul. He hit the free throw to give the Spurs an 88-85 lead. Then Jackson came back hit 2 3's in a row and the Warriors never looked back.
Final score 136-125

Davis: Haha, Coach is always trying to motivate us, and telling the media that we wouldn't win one (game) is his way of doing that. I think we can beat this team and although I gotta stay out of foul trouble and not let Barry go off like that.

Bargaini: I'm just happy to be here, if I was on Toronto, I would still be on the worst team in the league, I'm glad I was traded

warriors box score http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/ ... G_0736.jpg
Spurs box score http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/ ... G_0740.jpg

Game 2: Warriors do it again!
The Warriors playing off the momentum they gained from game one, stole game 2. Game 2 was much more interesting and exciting and came down to the final possesion. With the Warriors up by 3 after Jacksons go ahead 25-footer, the Spurs had one more chance with 11.8 seconds. Instead they inbounded the to Finley who held onto it until 3 seconds and shot a contested 3 that bounced off the rim.
Warriors 100-97

I simulated Game 3-6, but the Warriors took a 3-0 lead, before giving up 3 games in a row. The series was tied 3-3 and their would be a game 7. Would the Warriors become part of the wrong side of history?

Game 7: Warriors blow out Spurs in 4th, Nuggets next
The Warriors took advantage of Tim Duncans injury in the 3rd quarter to run away with game 7. With Duncan out, the middle of the key became wide open and his substitute Oberto went 0-7 on the offensive end. The Warriors opened up the game with a 14-2 run and ended up winning by 18.

Nelson: Wow what a great series, I can't believe we actually won. But our guys hung in there, I'm real proud of them.

Richardson: This is one of the best momements of my life! Beating the Spurs is magical even if we did catch some breaks. But, hey! Isn't that what life is all about?

Update

Round 2 Nuggets

Game 1: Warriors Steal Homecourt
The Warriors fueled by their impressive victory of the Spurs seemed completely loose in the opener while the Nuggets, perhaps rusty after sweeping the Jazz came out flat. The Warriors did everything they need to come out on top and ended up winning by 12.

Game 2 and 3 I simmed, but each team took one game

Game 4: Warriors rally, but Iverson's 3-pointer evens up the series
The Warriors entered the 4th quarter trailing by 14, but behind Davis' amazing playing and feeding off the crowd stormed back. Davis would repeatedly drive and kick to Richardson and Jackson who would bury 3 after 3.

Richardson: I just wanted to help us go up 3-1 and they kept leaving me and Jack open.

Unfortunately for the Warriors after Davis drove the lane with the score tied at 117, the Nuggets had the final possesion. Davis claimed he was fouled on his layup attempt, but there was no whistle. Iverson instead pushed the ball up the floor with 5 seconds left and on the playoff logo hit a fadeway 3 over Davis to give the Nuggets a 120-117 lead with 1.2 seconds to go. Richardson's 3 at the buzzer clanked off the back rim and Nuggets regained home court advantage.

Davis: Camby tackled me on that play. I don't know how that wasn't a foul. I honestly felt like I was a runningback on that drive sh*t!

Game 5: Warriors Rebound nicely, take game 5
Davis, motivated from the fustrating game 4 loss, took over the game, giving the Warriors a 3-2 series lead heading back to Oakland. The Warriors, led by Davis, won a 94-82 game.

Davis: I had to make sure we didn't go back home trailing (the series), and I didn't want the refs to have to decide this one.

Game 6: Warriors are moving on
Back at home, the crowd booed Iverson, but the game was still tied entering the 4th. Bargaini would be huge scoring 11 points in the quarter and grabbing 5 rebounds. Davis would have 2 steals in the final minute to make sure Iverson's heroics would not be part of game 6.

Nelson: Baron played amazing these last 2 games, I don't know if anyone could ahve stopped him. When there is a fire in his belly, its impossible to contain him. He's the reason we are moving on

Conference Finals Suns
The Warriors cinderalla run would end quickly by the Suns who would sweep the in 4 straight games. The Suns proved having better chemistry is key and even though the talent was about equal, the Suns never seemed too challenged.

Nelson: This is an unfortunate ending to a great year. I don't think anyone could have predicted this. This exceeded my wildest dreams. We're going to have a nice long summer to think about this one

Update

Offseason
The lottery was a big suprising, but the Warriors were not too concerned about it.
Image

The Warriors chose to resign Harrington to a 5 year $58 million dollar deal and gave Barnes the midlevel exception for 1 year. They also resigned Pietrus to a 4 year 22 million dollar deal.

Looking to improve their backup point guard position they worked out Italian Prospect Romeo Esposito. He was regarded as the best point guard in the draft and was projected to go number 3. His skill set was impressive:

He had a beautiful shot:
Image

and he could finish with contact:
Image
Image

However, Esposito was drafted number 2 overall by the Lakers, and the Warriors instead settled for small foward G. Munez with the 20th pick. He is an incredibly fast (99 speed) small foward with lots of energy, who probably would have been a lottery pick if he had better free throw shooting.

With our 2nd round pick, the Warriors selecetd A. Marco, another point guard. However the Warriors merely used him as trade bait and on August 14th, 2007 made a trade:
Image

Bargaini: Getting another Italian on the team is great. I'm so excited to be able to speak my native language even during practice. He should be a great backup to Baron.

Mullin: Davis is still our number 1 point guard. There is no question about that. We feel that Esposito will be able to provide solid minutes for Nellie and allow Davis to rest a bit more. He seemed exhausted in the Phoenix series

With Josh Powell, Cabarkpa and Brown all not being resigned the Warriors looked to sign some players to help fill out their roster. Even though they were already over the cap, the Warriors only needed some miminum wage players. Although they were about to give Powell the minimum during the resgined period, Powell stubbornly refused to resgin and held out for 8k more. In free agency, the Warriors saw a better PF rookie who was a 64 overall and who was asking for half as much as Powell. They also signed Kapono to a 2 year minimum deal to boost the 3 point shooting.

2007-2008
Image
Bargaini came back from the sumer having gone through a player evolution. He bulked up and became medium-cut instead of being thin-cut last season. HE improved from being a 74 overall to a 77 overall, and looked like he made great strides in all parts of his game.

Bargaini: Yeah, I was working out all summer. I really want to help the Warriors win more games. We know we have the talent to win a championship so I tried to make myself a better player. I hired Tim Grover (MJ's trainer) to help me improve my game and he was great. I feel much improved this season and look to build off my Rookie year (where he was name ROY).

The Bay Area was buzzing in excitement for the upcoming season, but things did not start off well.

Image

Warriors only had a 7-9 record heading into December and worse yet:

Image

In December things picked up slightly, but not by much:
Image

More to come later!

Esposito is pretty good for a rookie. He is a 76 overall and is a pretty good offensive player.
His MAJOR weakness is his athletism, he can't run at all. Bargaini is faster than him, I think Esposito is like 66 speed. He still can fill for Baron nicely, in that Miami win on December 8th, (100-95), DAvis fouled out at the beginning ofthe 4th quarter. (like literally at 7:30 mark, 8 min quarters). Esposito played extrmemely well scoring 13 of his 17 in the 4th and had 8 assists or something.

I'll do some more stuff later maybe. But I screwed up a bit. I forgot to take/deleted by accident the pictures of January 08 and Feb 08.... so I'm not sure what to do there... THnx Bdizzle for ur interest

Sorry I lost the pictures of the Calender months of January of February so this is what I got:
Image
The Warriors lost their first 2 games of the new year adding to their losing streak that began in Decemeber. After the New Orleans loss, Baron Davis called a players only meeting.

"Yeah I called the players only meeting because something was up with us, and I couldn't figure it out," Davis said. "We all knew that we had the talent to be one the best teams in the league, yet something wasn't clicking. We met on one of our offdays and everyone got everything off their chest."

Following the meeting the Warriors would win 8 in a row, before being blown out by 42 points in Dallas, but Davis was healing from his wrist injury that would keep him out for 4 weeks! However, led by Richardson, the Warriors stayed competive and continued their hot streak.
Image
Image
The Warriors redeemed their selves slightly by winning 3 straight, including 2 blowout wins over Utah. San Antonio would put an end to that mini-streak on February 1st.

Image
The Warriors put together another winning streak this time of 5 games, before dropping one to Clippers right before the allstar break.

Allstar Weekend
- Davis would come back to participate in the 3-point shootout.
- Bargaini would win the MVP of the Rookie Game for the 2nd year of the row.

Notable Trades
Image
Image

Post AllStar Break
Image
After the Allstar break, the Warriors would lose their 2 next games before they really took off.
Image
The Warriors almost had a perfect month in March, with their only loss coming to the Celtics in which Bargaini was injured.

"Now you all are seeing what we can do," Davis began. "We aren't a .500 ball club, we're clearly better. We're going to win 50 games this season I promise."

Image
In April, the Warriors ended their 8 game winning streak in a loss to the Pistons. Although the Warriors would revert to Mediocre form in the last 2 weeks of the season, they still achieved Davis' goal of 50 games by finishing with a record of 53-29, good for 4th in the West. This would allow them to have homecourt advantage in a series since 1975 (totally made that up, but I know its not for a very long time, if someone knows tell me!)

Well i think this is a pretty interesting dynasty and your very dedicated to it, although the problmen In my opinion why people don't follow it is because there is too many Warriors dynasty's, maybe chnage to a team which is rarely used, check out the Dynasty & Franchise stories list for some very rarely used teams (Y)

PLAYOFFS 2008
Here is the Bracket and the Results after the first 3 gamees (Sorry I forgot what happened)
Image
Yes, the Warriors are down 3-0. I simulated those first 3 games without even watching.

"Alot of people are counting us out right, but we have a lot of heart on this team," Davis said. "We're just going to take this thing one game at a time."

Game 4, the Warriors finally started playing up to their potential and routed the Kings in Sacramento. Game 5 was also a rout in their favor.

In Game 6, the Warriors found themselves down by 12 entering the 4th quarter. Thats when Baron Davis took over, scoring 26 of his 37 points in 4th on a variety of dunks and 3's and he rallied the Warriors back even when victory seemed impossible. With the Warriors trailing 100-93 with one minute to go, Davis hit a 3 to make a 4 point game. He then poked the ball away from Bibby and slammed home a dunk to get the Warriors within 2. On the King's next possession they ran the clock down to 45 seconds before Bibby missed a shot and Davis threw a long outlet pass to Jackson who put in a layup to tie the game with 44 seconds to go. The Kings then held the ball until Miller missed a jumper with 10 seconds to go. Matt Barnes snatched down rebound part of his 15 rebound night and called timeout. Davis then got the ball pulled up on Bibby and nailed a 3 in is face to give the Warriors the lead 1.2 seconds to go!

In Game 7 Davis again refused to let the Warriors lose after mounting such a comeback. He scored 30 points, which was almost 1/3 of the Warrior's total points! (Sorry I forgot about this series, I've been focusing on the next series, there will be really good recaps vs. the Nuggets)
