Only Brendon Bass is generic one, others seem pretty easy to recognize.

Thanks. Winning the championship will be the first solid task for the Hornets.

1st TRIMESTER UPDATE
Struggling Hornets finished December with 8-21 record

Hornets were defeated by Nuggets

1. Allen Iverson taking the shot against Chris Paul. 2. Hornets' leader today Peja Stojakovic driving to the basket.

ImageImage
1. Melo shooting the 3 pointer at the start of the game. 2. Chris Paul and Hilton Armstrong celebrating the big shot.

November and December Calendar

ImageImage

New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets had 29 games in the first two months, but celebrated the victory only in 8 games and suffered losses in 21 of them (Including the loss to the Nuggets, which recap you can see above). The mnoth was marked with some injuries, such as Desmond Mason's and Rasual Butler's 2 week injuries. David West had more serious injury and had to miss 5 weeks. The 0-7 start of the season was not so nice, too. But there are some hopes for the better performance in the future, because in December the team had more wins than in November, and it seems that they keep improving.

Stats

Image

Peja Stojakovic leads the team in points, scoring 22.0 PPG in the two months. The future of the Hornets Chris Paul goes behind him with 19.1 PPG, also dishing for 6.8 APG for a game. David West, who played only 17 games of 29, due to the injury, is averaging 14.4 PPG. He had ~18 PPG before his injury. Hopefully he will return to the right shape soon. The leader at rebounds is Tyson Chandler with 9.1 rebounds per game, he also putting 11.6 points in ever game. Marc Jackson had to step up, when West was injured, so he is averaging 6.9 PPG now. The team will look to the better game by two youngsters Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons in the next moths.

MVP Candidates

Image

Kevin Garnett is the best MVP candidate so far. He is scoring a lot of points (26.6 PPG), grabbing his dose of rebounds (13.5 RPG), also sharing the ball very well for him with 4.8 APG. He also blocks 2.74 shots and steals 2.00 balls per game. These great stats let him be the best candidate to the title, but the team needs to play a little bit better. Wolves now have 13 wins and 14 losses. O'Neal, Nowitzki, Ginobili and Marion are behind him, but have some chances.

November and December Transactions

ImageImage

The most thrilling event of this season so far in the team changes was the blockbuster deal between San Antonio and Atlanta. Veteran Michael Finley now will wear the Hawks jersey, while Josh Childress will play at Spurs. Only time will show who won in this deal. Also Philadelfia 76ers surprised all with the deal, in which they sent their 1st round pick to the Wizards for Ethan Thomas. Struggling 76ers are searching for better players, but giving the 1st round pick of the very strong draft in the next year is not so clever. The other deals were not so significant.

Season Standings

ImageImage
ImageImage
ImageImage

San Antonio, Denver and Phoenix rule at the West. Memphis demonstrating perfect game for them and are in the 4th place now. Hornets are the worst Western Conference team so far with only 8 wins, but the things seem to be progressing for them. At the East Miami, Detroit and Chicago are demostrating the best basketball. Heat and Pistons are leading in all the league with only 5 losses both. The worst teams of the East are Hawks and Bobcats with 5 and 7 wins accordingly, even worse than Hornets.

The Bests of November

ImageImage
ImageImage

Chris Bosh and Andrei Kirilenko earned the players of November honors. Bosh had great offensive month with 26.1 PPG and 12.1 RPG, while AK47 was averaging 15.7 PPG, also had almost 10 rebounds per game, almost 2 blocks per game and 2.76 steals per game, great defensive stats by him. Adam Morrison and Randy Foye won their first titles in their NBA carrier and now lead the race to the Rookie of the Year.

The Bests of December

ImageImage
ImageImage

The bests of December was Gilbert Arenas and Kevin Garnett. Agent Zero helped Wizards to play better in December and had nice number himself. KG was storming the league in this moths with such stats, which helped him to become the 1st candidate to the MVP title. Adam Morrison repeated his success of the November and got the rookie of the month title again. At the West Rudy Gay got his first title and helped Grizzlies to be at the top of the stadings.

Always enjoy your dynastys. Keep it up. If you keep it going, you may rach the .500 mark.. If not, you'll have a good chance for a lottery pick. But I think that's not your goal..

2nd TRIMESTER UPDATE
Take a look at the Hornets after trade deadline and all-star event.

All-Star event in Las Vegas

Rookie-Sophomore game selections

ImageImage

All-Star event in Las vegas started with the rookie - sophomore game. Chris Paul and Hilton Armstrong were selected from the Hornets to participate in this game. Hilton as a rookie, and Paul as sophomore. Rookies surprisingly won the 121 : 102 and Randy Foye was anounced as the player of the game.

Slam dunk and 3 point contest selections

ImageImage

Desmond Mason was selected to participate in this year's slam dunk contest in Las Vegas. He was doing pretty good, but Dwight Howard was better tonight, as he got the slam dunk contest champion title. Mason got the 2nd place. At the 3 point shooting contest Peja Stojakovic, who was selected from Hornets, was doing not so well, so he was eliminated at the 1st round, while the new 3 point champion is Gilbet Arenas.

All-Star game selections

ImageImage

All-Star game in Vegas had one Hornet in it. Voters placed Chris Paul at the starting 5 of the Western Conference lineup. He joined Manu Ginobli, Andrei Kirilenko, Kevin Garnett and Pau Gasol here, so 3 international players were in it. East lineup consisted of two big men Emeka Okafor and Dwight Howard, also of LeBron James, Vince Carter and Gilbert Arenas. There was quite impressive game with lots of highlights, in which West celebrated the victory after very nice 4th quarter against East 112 : 104. Kevin Garnett got the Player of the game title.

The weekend in pictures

ImageImage
1. Desmond Mason was introduced before the dunk contest, in which he got the 2nd place.
2. Peja Stojakovic attempt at the 3 point contest was not successful, he was eliminated in the 1st round.

ImageImage
3. Chris Paul was selected to participate in the rookie-sophomore game, in which he had 16 points and 10 assists.
4. Chris Paul was anounced to play in the all-star game as well, where he had 4 points and 5 assists.

January and February Calendar

ImageImage

New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets had 30 games in January and February. January was like a new hope for Hornets. They won 9 games of 16 and seemed to be progressing. But in February they began to struggle again and won only 3 games. So now they have 21 victories and 38 losses, and there are only the theorethical chances to go to playoffs. Hornets didn't make any trades before the trade deadline and let the roster to be unchanged. The middle of February was marked with All-Star event in Las Vegas, where 4 Hornets players were participating.

Stats

Image

Peja Stojakovic still leads the team in points, scoring 21.8 PPG. Chris Paul averages the same 19.1 points per game, but he increased his assists per game a bit - 6.9. Two big men average the double digits in scoring, too. West has 13.8 PPG, while Chandler - 12.4 PPG. They both grab the amount of 18 rebounds per game. Other players score a little bit less. Two youngsters Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons got more playing time in the recent months, but seems that the didn't use this opportunity. The team is willing to cut some players from the roster soon and give even more playing time to young players, if the winning situation is not going to change.

MVP Candidates

Image

Kevin Garnett still the 1st MVP candidate. He increased all the stats he had after the December and moving to the MVP title very fast. His team also playing better than in the first months. They now now 29-27 record and if we see the team in playoffs, we will probably see Garnett to become the Most Valuable Player of the season. Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Marion still fighting for the title, while Manu Ginobili and Jermaine O'Neal seems are out of it. But Emeka Okafor and Zach Randolph are the new guys here and if we see the same game they were demonstrating in the recent months, they might become the real contenders for Kevin Garnett.

January and February Transactions

Image

The most important season deal was between Toronto Raptors and Philadelfia 76ers. Raptors acquired Andre Iguodala from 76ers for their playmaker TJ Ford. The 76ers are still doing weird decisions, as they traded their 1st round pick to the Wizards 2 months ago. Now again, not so really needed TJ for their go to guy Andre Iguodala. But only time will show the real winners of this trade. In the other shocking deal Raptors acquired Stromile Swift for their 1st pick of the draft from Italy Andrea Bargnani. Maybe they didn't want to wait for the progress of this guy and picked Stromile Swift, who is able to play at center. Other than that, Raptors have pretty interesting lineup with Bosh, Iguodala, Swift, Graham and Calderon. Other deals were not so important.

Hornets Contracts

Image
Image

Time to take a look at the Hornets remaining contracts after this season. A lot of guys have expiring contracts, so GM will have a lot of work to choose the right decision on resigning players or not. The biggest waiting job is to persuade David West to stay with the team. This seems not to be hard job, considering the free money club will have, but West may say no, and go to the free agent's market.

ESPN Mock Draft

Image

And also time to think about the future of the Hornets. Seems that they will have pretty high pick in this very strong draft, because of their current record (21-38). Hornets probably will be looking for a guy who can play defense or a offensive minded center. But there are only a little centers in this draft, so if we are able to grab them, we would do it without any thoughts. There are some interesting international phenomenons, such as S.Dias from Serbia and Montenegro, also the forwards from Bosnia and Bulgaria C.Jelacic and C.Schwartz. The players from Chech Republic, Russia and Lithuania also are expected to be drafted in the 1st round.

Season Standings

ImageImage
ImageImage
ImageImage

The standings are pretty much the same as we had after the December. Spurs and Nuggets are the top 2 teams in the West, as Pistons and Heat are the bests in the East. Miami Heat are the best in all the league so far, and seems that they are moving forward to repeat their last season success. Hornets a bit rised in the standins with several wins in these months. But there are only very few chances left for them to make the playoffs.

The Bests of January

ImageImage
ImageImage

Kevin Garnett again was the best in this month. All of his previous stats increased, and he is almost a lock at choosing MVP. In the East Bobcat Emeka Okafor had perfect month, in which he was averaging 20.1 PPG and 12.9 RPG. Randy Foye got his 2nd award in this season, he repeated the success of the November and was anounced as the West rookie of January. The best January rookie was Tyrus Thomas.

The Bests of February

ImageImage
ImageImage

There are no wonder now, as Kevin Garnett got the 3rd consecutive monthly award this season. He is going nowhere but straight to the MVP. In the East Emeka Okafor was replaced by Dwight Howard this month. While Rudy Gay and Adam Morrison celebrated their 2nd titles in this season. They both were the rookies of the December before.

What a bad trade for Philly.. They have Miller. But atleast now Korver get's more minutes.. Nice to see Paul in the All-star Game. Yes, Arenas won the shootout. Recaps are pretty huge.. Already February is over.

3rd TRIMESTER UPDATE
Hornets finished regular season, didn't make the playoffs

March and April Calendar

ImageImage

New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets finished 2006-2007 regular season. They had 28 victories and 54 losses this year, what means that they didn't make the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive years now. All the hopes for the better performance are postponed to the next seasons. The next season might be like the new fresh start, as they will have one of the top projected pick from very strong draft.

Stats

Image

Peja Stojakovic remained the leader of the team in points, averaging 23.2 PPG. The leader in assists and steals was Chris Paul. He led all the league in assists per game too. The best rebounder, as well as best blocker, became Tyson Chandler. He had 9.4 RPG and 1.48 BPG in all 82 season games. He managed to average the double digits in scoring too. David West also had double digits, averaging 13.8 PPG. Brendon Bass played only 2 games this year and scored 2 points in them. At the end of the season, Linton Johnson III and Marc Jackson were released from the club. Linton didn't appear at the court this season, while Marc Jackson averaged ~5 PPG before that. Marc was released to give more playing time for Hilton Armstron and Cedric Simmons. They were doing pretty good in the last 10 Hornets games.

Season Standings

ImageImage

The best team in the league Miami Heat celebrated 70 victories in this season, pretending to the 2nd consecutive championship title. Detroit Pistons ended with 57 victories, while other teams were pretty poor in the East. Orlando Magic with 35 wins managed to go to the playoffs. The worst team here - Atlanta Hawks, still can't find their game, only 21 wins. The best teams in West are San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets, 65 and 63 victories accordingly. Minnesota TimberWolves with unbelievable Kevin Garnett this year had the bad luck, as they shared the same record with Mavs and Clippers, but didn't make the playoffs. New Orleans Hornets ended with 28 wins, one more than Blazers, which finished last in the conference.

League Leaders

ImageImage
ImageImage
ImageImage

Kevin Garnett in undoubtebly the player with best individual performance this year. He leads the league in points per game, rebounds per game, blocks per game and minutes per game. Chris Paul leads the league in assists per game with only 6.9, while Allen Iverson leads the league in steal per game (2.57 SPG).

The Bests of March

ImageImage
ImageImage

Andrea Bargnani traded to the Grizzlies got his first rookie award. Adam Morrison got his 2nd consecutive rookie award. Kevin Garnett again won the best month player award in West, while LeBron James was the best of March in East.

The Bests of April

ImageImage
ImageImage

The rookies of April were the same as the rookies of March, Morrison and Bargnani repeated their success. The best players of March were two point guards: Allen Iverson in the West and Gilbert Arenas in the East.

Predictions

ImageImage

Kevin Garnett will probably win the MVP title, despite the fact that his Wolves didn't make the playoffs this year. In the playoffs the best West team Spurs will face the Clippers, Nuggets will prepare for the tough matchup with Mavs. Suns will welcome Kings in Phoenix, while Rockets' and Grizzlies' matchup is going to be very interesting. Heat will probbaly won't have problems with Magic, the same with Pistons. Other pairs are interesting as Nets will face the Cavs, and Bulls will face the Raptors.
