New York Knicks: The Next Dynasty(8-26) [=Officially DEAD=]

Postby double_g on Fri Apr 07, 2006 8:14 pm

Hey everybody I've decided to start a new dynasty with The New York Knicks! Since the team sucks and I suck at superstar this could be a good combo   . All Star level is too easy for me now and i want to take my game into the next level. Here are my settings:

Code: Select all
Season Length: 82 Games (NBA Type)
Quarter Length: 12 Minutes (both Sim and Human Games)
Play-off Length: 7-7-7-7
Roster Used: Andrew's v1.07
Sliders Used: Real NBA v1.0 (because the FS abilities are moderately weakened)
Skill Level: Superstar
Dunkpack used: Jimmy's

I won't play all the games. Probably I'll pick every week (Dynasty time  ) a game to play and the other ones I'll just sim them. I'll do a weekly report and a small recap of the game I played in that week. I hope you'll like it  !

GM Isiah Thomas Fired! New GM in the Big Apple!

It’s official now! Isiah Thomas has been fired from the position of General Manager of the New York Knicks due to several trades that put the franchise way below the salary cap limit. Furthermore he made some unnecessary trades bringing overpaid players who are struggling. Many believe that this team is doomed at least this season and won’t be able to reach the play-offs.
“I had to make this decision! We thank Mr. Isiah Thomas for being faithful to our organization but unfortunately ha made some managerial decisions that can be very easy contested.” said Chairman James Dolan.
The new GM is an unknown Romanian: Florian Gheorghe aka GM double_g. “I trust Mr. G’s managerial skills. He can bring us to success. I told him that his priority now is a more flexible salary cap.” said the Chairman. “I’ve come here to try to form the next dynasty. I’m honored Mr. Dolan pick me as the new GM and now I want to prove that he made a wise decision.” commented GM double_g.

New faces for the Knickerbockers!

New York Knicks hired 3 new persons who will help Head Coach Larry Brown through training camp and through the next season.
The new Assistant Coach is Haji Hui an American who has his origins in China. “It’s an honor for me to work alongside Head Coach Larry Brown. I will definitely have a lot to learn from him. I also want to prove my skills and help the players develop and reach their full potential.” said the Hui.
The new Trainer is Jahidi Washington with a lot of experience that comes from the NCAA basketball. “It’s a great opportunity for me to work for an NBA organization. I wanted for a long time to reach the next level and finally I succeeded. Let’s hope I won’t have too much work this season!” said trainer Washington.
The new Scout is Nicholas Lee who is 58 and has a lot of NBA scouting experience. “Another team for me but a brand new challenge! I believe New York has a lot of potential by drafting Frye or Nate Robinson or David Lee. I hope to help in every aspect I can the coaching staff of this organization.” said Lee.

The new and old Training Camp!

New York Knicks are in training camp. This brings mixed feelings among the players. For the veterans like Stephon Marbury or Jalen Rose is just another training camp. “Well you cannot say that. Every training camp you learn new things. Every training camp is a new one totally different from the last ones!” said Jalen Rose. For the rookies like Channing Frye; Nate Robinson and David Lee this is a new thing. “Yeah this is my first training camp in the NBA and it’s a new challenge being able to learn such a lot from the veterans who have done this before 9-10 times.” said Nate Robinson.
“The young guys are performing very well. They want every day to improve and get their game into the next level. We also have a lot of veterans that can help them. I’m not entirely satisfied of the level of commitment by the veterans though.” said Head Coach Larry Brown.

Knicks hammered by the Nets in the Rivalry Week Pre-Season!

New York Knicks played the first pre-season game home against rivals New Jersey Nets. The game was controlled from one end till the other by the away team. Although Knick tried to get back into the game by making runs and reducing the deficit by 1 they still could not take the lead. The Nets made the lead in the final quarter with the help of bench players such as Nachbar and Scott Padgett. The final score was 112 – 95.
The High Man for New York was Jalen Rose who scored 19 points grabbed 4 boards and made 2 assists. Also Marbury and Francis scored 15 points. Curry grabbed 10 rebounds.
Jefferson was the leader for the Nets scoring 20 points and making 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Also Carter scored 17 points and Collins14 points. Cliff made 14 rebounds and Kidd made 8 assists.
“Not a good game for us but still there is room to improve!” said GM double_g who saw the game near the Knicks bench.

Marbury misses the late 3 and Knicks lose!

New York Knicks suffered another tough loss in the last game of the pre-season away from home in Oakland against New Orleans/Oakland Hornets. The final score was 96 – 94.
The game was very much in the balance all 4 quarters and only in the final seconds the game was decided. Marbury and rookie Chris Paul lead their teams in the 4 quarter. Stephon scored an equalizer in the last minute and put pressure on the home team. The mistake came from rookie David Lee who fouled PJ Brown in the last 5 seconds. PJ Brown scored both free throws. Marbury took the ball and try to win it by throwing beyond the art with 1 second left but the shot was no good.
Francis was the high man for the Knicks scoring 25 points and making 2 boards and 3 assists. Marbury scored 12 points and made 11 assists. Big man Eddie Curry was in good shape scoring 13 points and making 15 boards and 3 blocks.
Rookie Chris Paul scored 24 points for the Hornets and made 3 assists and 2 steals. Also high-flying Kirk Snyder scored 18 points and made 3 assists and 3 rebounds.

Now comes the real deal  after fooling around a little bit to see what my team needs. So my most important conclusion: I really need a dominant big man in the paint, preferable FSS - Power. So I guess I'll have to get rid of Stephon Marbury. I saw some really interesting trades in the other NY Dynasties like Okafor-Marbury deal (3C's dynasty) a very good one but I'm not a fan of Meka. So I've tried some trades and I've come up with this one: Kenyon Martin + Andre Miller for Stephon Marbury + Channing Frye. Yeah i know Frye is a young gun with potential but I still get a dominant big man I really (K-Mart) and an expiring contract (Andre Miller) who can help my team in the backcourt at least this season. And I must say it's realistic too
And my other conclusions: I must get rid of NY's overpaid players like Jalen Rose; Malik Rose or Maurice Taylor and get some decent salaries and maybe players  But for the time being I don't know how :?

Hey hey nice dynasty and its the Knicks !!

Well the trade would be better with Francis, thats right.
So Steve-Franchis and Channing Frye for K-Mart and Mr. Miller is a really nice trade. I would take it. (But I´m not a fan of trades )

Thanks (Y) Yeah I'm not a fan of trades either but I have to change sth and reduce the salary cap

Thanks. I've come up with this idea 'cause I didn't like the gray square in the Instant Replay you can't rid of. So I've decided to put the NYK logo

Just started reading. I really don't like the trade because I'm a fan of Frye and he is the long term solution to the big man problem (if he developes). I like the fact that this trade reduced your cap space with this trade. K-Mart is a very good big man and will help you contain people like Shaq, Yao, the Wallaces etc. Francis should probably see good minutes with Marbury gone and Miller if not someone else should start at PG for the mean time. I like what I'm seeing. I'll be reading. (Y)

Yeah I know it sucks that I'll trade Frye but I couldn't get the trade going without anyone else  . And btw great trade Marbury - Meka

P.S. Sorry for the delay but I had some problems with my PC :x but fortunately now it's all over and I can finally start my dynasty

Blockbuster Trade! Marbury OUT…K-Mart IN!

The rumors spread throughout the league that guard Marbury is on his way out from New York proved to be true. GM double_g made his first real move since he got this job and made a blockbuster trade right before the start of the season. Head Coach Larry Brown showed his concern regarding the frontcourt after the pre-season games telling the media that a dominant big man with experience is needed by the Knicks. “There is still room to improve this team and a big man would be what we might need to control the basket! Curry has a lot of potential and so does Frye but we need a little more experience if we want to make the step to the play-offs.” New York Knicks traded Stephon Marbury and rookie Channing Frye for Denver’s players Kenyon Martin and expiring contract Andre Miller. K-Mart was not George Karl favorite player anymore and he was looking to move on. “It’s a new experience to me! I’ve played for New Jersey 4 years and I know these parts very well. It’s a new opportunity for me to show my skills and help my team reach the play-offs.” said K-Mart. “To be honest I’m a little surprised to leave Denver. Still I’m sure I’ll adapt well here and I welcome the opportunity to work with Coach Larry Brown.”

Marbury vs Andre Miller--------------Stephon wins
Frye vs Kenyon Martin------------Kenyon wins

but Frye is the future star, maybe for like next 2-3 seasons, Frye will be an FSS, but its a good trade, Kenyon is POWER, so its all good

Yeah it's a fair trade for both teams. Denver gets better backcourt and a young gun with potential New York gets a dominant big man and lower salary cap for next season

Ok so here's my 1st week experience :)

Redd Hot Bucks sink the Knicks in Madison Square Garden!

New York lost the first game of the season at home in a game without history against Milwaukee. The Knicks started the game hard making defensive stops. Redd left early the 1st quarter because he was in foul trouble and Milwaukee without him seemed an easy target. New York was in command with a comfortable double digit lead but Redd wasn’t still ready to give up. In the 2nd quarter Redd almost fight alone and manage to make a comeback. After leading by 15 in the 2nd quarter New York was struggling from the field in the 3rd. Redd turn the game around and at the end of the 3rd Milwaukee was leading by double digits. Francis tried in the 4th period to get back his team into the game but it was too late. Milwaukee came away with a very important victory in Madison Square Garden 98 – 82.
“We still have defensive problems in the backcourt. I mean in the 2nd quarter Redd had no defense and he hit open shots from all over the floor. Let’s hope this will not happen again!” said Coach Larry Brown.

Nice coverage. Don't let the losses wear you down. The season barely started and there's a lot of room for improvement. What is your starting line up?
