Dallas Mavericks Dynasty

Postby Rockabye on Fri Apr 07, 2006 2:15 am

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and thought it would be a good start to let you be part of my latest dynasty.

Because I'm living in Germany it is obvious which team I choosed to play with...yep you are right...of course the DALLAS MAVERICKS with the German Wunderkind Dirk Nowitzki.

I'm using some sliders I found in the Sliders-Thread for a 8 Minute Game in All-Star Game. I have realistic scores with that and most of the games are still difficult to win.

The season consists of 29 games with 12 Minute Sim-Quarters. The Play-Offs will have the 3-3-3-3 format.

So here we go...

(10/08/05) Dallas Mavericks sign coaching staff

The Mavericks invited the media to a press conference to announce their newest staff members. They signed two assistant coaches, one trainer and one scout.

The new offensive and athletics coach will be Baha Porter. He's 55 years old and signed a 2 year contract worth 708k a year. His speciality is to improve players shooting abilities.

GM Don Nelson said: I'm very happy to have Porter here in Dallas. He will definetly improve our players shooting abilities and athletic conditions.

The new defensive coach is Ty Rowell. He's 46 years old and signed a 2 year contract worth 653k a year. His speciality is to improve guards.

GM Don Nelson said: The defense was our main problem over the last years but with Rowell here in Dallas I'm sure we will fix our problems there. I think Terry, Daniels and all the other guards can learn a lot from him!

The new trainer of the Mavericks is Solomon Houston. He's 39 years old and signed a 3 year contract worth 529k a year. He's a specialist for arm injuries.

Head coach Avery Johnson said: I'm glad to have Houston on my team. He will make sure that our players stay healthy.

Finally they signed Brendan McKey as scout. He's 43 years old and signed and 2 year contract worth 407k a year.

GM Don Nelson said: McKey is good at scouting players defensive abilities. His main priority will be to find a good center to draft next year.

(10/20/05) Dallas starts season with a home game

The first game of the 05/06 NBA season for the Mavericks will be at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They meet Lebron James & co at October 30th. Just one day later they play against the Atlanta Hawks.

Highlights of November are the games against Texas and Division rivals Houston and San Antonio. On November 16th they will play the Rockets at home while on November 29th they must travel to San Antonio to meet the Spurs.

Dallas head coach Avery Johnson said: The games against the Rockets and Spurs are two of the most important this season because both will be our biggest rivals for the division title. Of course it's a disadvantage to play the Spurs at their home but it will be the first real test for us this season and the players really look forward to this game.

(10/27) Dallas Mavericks training camp review

Today the Dallas Mavericks finished their pre-season training camp. The coaches worked hard on the players to improve their abilities and make them ready for the regular season.

Image

Baha Porter reports: I'm pleased with the development of some players during the training camp.

Desagana Diop improved his mid range shooting, jumping ability, speed and stamina. But I see more potential in him so I will continue my work with him during the regular season.

Devin Harris got better with his 3-point shootiing and ball handling. He also got a bit faster and quicker. I think we can still improve his abilities so I continue my work with him during the season.

DJ Mbenga improved his free throw and mid range shooting while Josh Powell improved his mid range shooting and jumping ability.

Ty Rowell reports: Some players got a lot better during training camp.

Dirk Nowitzki improved his stealing and blocking ability and got better rebounding skills as well.

Jason Terry improved with his rebounding abilities.

Adrian Griffin got better with his rebounding and improved his stealing and blocking abilities.

I saw the biggest improvements at Devin Harris. He got better with his rebounding and blocking abilities and I still see room for improvement.

(10/30/05) Dallas season opener against Cleveland tonight!!!

The Dallas Mavericks will have their first regular season game tonight. They will meet the Cleveland Cavaliers at the American Airlines Center.

Image

Dirk Nowitzki said: Anything but a win would be a huge disappointment. We worked really hard during training camp and especially our defense improved a lot.

Image

Avery Johnson said: Of course our main priority will be to stop Lebron James. Josh Howard will have a hard job tonight but I'm sure he will get James under control. Maybe we have a little disadvantage under the basket but if we can get open shots for Dirk and Jason this shouldn't be a huge problem. Also we have one of the best benches in the league. Jerry Stackhouse or Keith van Horn are always good for 15-20 points. I think we will see an exciting match tonight!

(10/30/05) Dallas Mavericks crushed Cavaliers

The Mavericks defeated the Cavaliers 112-88.

Dallas played a solid defense and was able to hold James at 20 points while Dirk Nowitzki scord 25 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Jerry Stackhouse came off the bench to score 18 points while Marquis Daniels had a solid perfomance with 16 points.

Jason Terry made 13 points and had 7 assists.

Keith van Horn scored 12 points off the bench.

Starting center Diop was able to grab 8 rebounds but only scored 4 points. Second center Dampier made 6 points but only grabbed 2 rebounds.

Dallas team stats:

FG: 41/72 .569
3P: 04/14 .286
FT: 26/33 .788
Rebounds: 36
Turnovers: 13

Cleveland team stats:

FG: 40/85 .471
3P: 01/10 .100
FT: 07/08 .875
Rebounds: 29
Turnovers: 11

Avery Johnson after the match: I'm proud of this team. They made a really good job on both ends of the floor. The key were our bench players who scored 48 points. And of course Dirk had another outstanding performance, it was really fun to watch him play.

Other result from tonight:

New York at Atlanta 99-98
