Hawks Complete 2 Trades. Blockbuster with Boston, and trade with Indiana
Today the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics have concluded on a blockbuster trade. The Atlanta Hawks send out Sophmore Josh Smith and guard Tyronne Lue to Boston. In exchange, the Boston Celtics will send over 4 time all-star, Paul Pierce.
Paul Pierce a
four time all-star was brought up in many, many trade rumors this summer. The closest one was Pierce to Denver for Miller and Nene. Another one was Pierce for Redd, Ray Allen, Livingston, Maggette and many many more. Well today, the Boston Celtics finally concluded on a deal in which they recieved Slam Dunk contest winner Josh Smith and a veteran point guard (which Ainge really wanted) in Tyronne Lue.
In 2004-05 Paul Pierce (6-6, 230lbs) averaged 21.6ppg, 6.6rpg, 4.2apg, and 1.62spg. Pierce shot 82% from the line, 37% from the arc, and 45% from the field last season. Last year was probally one of his dissapointing seasons. But Pierce told us this, "Last year you saw that I had a bad attitude and I was immature. Especially with that Game 7 Indiana Pacers thing. I definatley changed. My attitude is better and I think I can bring alot to this team. I played with Johnson when he was a rookie. Always liked his game. I really will miss Boston and I wish them the best of luck with Wally, and Smith. And I wish Delonte, Gerald, Jefferson, Perkins, LaFrentz, Allen and the rest of the guys the best of luck. That team has a good, wait no they have a
great future for themselves. Getting Smith made them younger and hes definatley a great athlete. Good luck guys."
The other trade that the Atlanta Hawks completed was sending C John Edwards and G Royal Ivey to Indiana. In exchange, they recieved C/F David Harrison.
Harrison, whos entering his second year, averaged 6.1ppg, 3.1rpg, and 1.28bpg in 17.7mpg in 47 games last season. He shot 58% from the floor aswell. Harrison told us this, "Im excited man. I think this is a great great oppritunity for me. I mean Ill miss Indiana and I wish them the best of luck, but this is cool man. Everyone as welcomed me with open arms. I love it so far"
Dominique Wilkins told us this about the trades, "Wow, Spud did an amazing job. He got Paul Pierce for Smith and Lue and got Harrison for Edwards and Ivey. Im really excited. This team can really be something else. Right now your looking at, Johnson at the 1, Pierce at the 2, Williams at 3, Harrington at the 4 and Harrison at the 5. Then Salim, and Childress off the bench. Or we can even go, Johnson, Childress, Pierce, Harrington, Harrison then Williams and Salim off the bench. MAN (ubbing his hands togeather) this is awsome." Pierce and I have accually bonded for about an hour or 2. Were really getting along. I asked hm how he felt about the team and he said that were going to be in the playoffs for sure. Its great to here that from Pierce already."
