POST GAME TENSIONThere was plenty of tension between Hawks GM Casey Lee and Coach Terry Stotts. Casey spoke up, "Terry don't worry, i won't let the owner fire you, i know it's not your fault, our team is just not the greatest, but i will work with you to keep your job. You get a gameplan ready for our next game against the PAcers and I'll think of a way to get this team going." Terry looked at Casey, as soon as Casey came into the Hawks industry Terry and him had gotten along, "Thanks Casey, I appreciate it." Terry left the room and shut the door behind him. Casey sat there thinking to himself. He needed to get this team a scoere, a superstar, a leader, someone to get this team into the playoffs. He kept thinking and he decided to call his high school buddy from Detroit, Austin.
"Hello?"
"Austin, it's Casey, i need some help here."
"Hey, big GM is in need of help, no problem how can i help?"
"I need to get someone to get my team up and going, a great star, but humble and a born leader."
"Hmmm, ahh, I got one, Ray Allen, you could offer them like a 3 for 1 trade deal, they have to open spots, I think."
"Good idea, I talk to them after our Pacers game this week, thanks Austin, you are my savior"
"No problem, and good luck, but hey, I wanted to tell you somethin."
"Yes?"
"I got this kid down here, name is Antrelle Whitmore, goes by X-Factor, thought u might be able to come check him out."
"Street baller, I don't need any of those aditudes on my team bro."
"No trust me CAsey, this guy is a born star, he'll be humble about it, I swear."
"I don't know. . ."
"At least come watch him play on eof these days, give me a call and then fly down ehre for a weekend."
"I'll think about it, I know I owe you a couple, so I'l lcall you back later next week"
"Thanks man, nice talking to you"
"Yea, same"
Casey hung up feeling a little less stressed, now he found the player, but how in the world would he get him. Casey knew he needed to get some sleep then come to the office tomorrow to talk to the owner about keeping Stotts till the end of the season to see how good a coach Stotts can be. He left the office and went to his car. He go tin and drove off to a sports bar. He sat at the bar without taking a drink. Sammy the bartender spoke up first. . .
"Yo Case, somethin botherin ya?"
"Yea, I got a lot on my mind Sam, owner wants to fire Stotts, I'm thinking how to get Ray Allen and my fri. . ."
Casey was interrupted by the man on the other side of the bar. . .
"Big Ray Ray! Man it would be great havin him here in Atlanta, finally the Hawks are starting to get some brains in the front office."
Casey looked over at Sammy and Sammy spoke first. . .
"Big fan, been comin here for years."
"I see, but as i was saying, I talked to Austin, he says he knows this street baller who goes by the name of X-Factor. Austin wants me to come down and see this kid play."
"Wow, Austin livin in Detroit now, man, i remember you two kids cleanin up around here for me, but anyways, Idon't know what to say, peolpe could get mad about him being on the team, I mean a high flyer like our old Wilkins is good, but he could ruin our teams reputation, peole could get mad and think we have to resort to gangstas."
"I got a lot to think about, I'm gonna hit the hay"
"Night"
Casey walked to the back of the bar and opened a door, he walked upstairs and up into a hallway he went. there were two doors, one appartment to the left, Sammy and his wife's, and the right appartment, Casey's. . .CAsey hadn't had a great job before this. He coached some high school b-ball while workin downtown at a wood mill. Sammy let him stay in this appt. as long as CAsey payed rent. Casey always came to the bar to watch sports games when he was little, Sammy let him go in a back room, and SAmym would give him and Austin soda pop and burgers on the house. Now the two have grown up, Austin coaching baseball at Michigan University and Casey being a GM for the Hawks. Casey lay in bed and stared at teh ceiling. He finally dosed off around 3:30 in the morning. . .
