Phil Jackson has come back to the Lakers to try and win his 10th championship ring. He is faced with a difficult task having a team of Rookies, Odom and Bryant. Bryant also want sto prove that he can win a championship with Shaq and he is looking for a better ending than last season's playoff missing year.
Before i started, i traded some of my players and this is a desciption of it.
- I traded Chris Mihm and Brian Grant to NY for Penny Hardaway and David Lee. Why you ask? Because Grant has 3yrs left on his contract that pays him 14M a yr and Penny only has a yr left on his 15M contract. This means that next season I will be under the cap. I didn't like Mihm so I traded him for NY rookie David Lee and also because I wanted Bynum to start at center.
- I also traded Brian Cook for Andrew Barret simply because I don't have a PG who will back up Penny. I found out that Vujacic is actually a SG and is turtle slow.
So i'm very excited with this team. My starting 5 looks like this...
C Andre Bynum
PF Kwame Brown
SF Lamar Odom
SG Kobe Bryant
PG Penny Hardaway
Second 5
C Turiaf (forgot the first name)
PF David Lee
SF Devean George
SG Jumain Jones
PG S. Vujacic
Rest of the Bench
PG Andrew Barrett
PF Slava Medvedenko
SG Laron Profit
SG Vuriat? (cant remember the name too)
SF Luke Walton
So the Lakers have 4 rookies playing key positions this year and this is quite a change from Phil Jackson's previous teams. We know he doesn't like playing rookies, but this season he has to.
Kwame Brown has a lot to prove this season as he moved to the Lakers from Washington.
So this Lakers team has a lot to prove this season and will find out where this season will end.

The Lakers played their first game against the Nuggets and they actually won by 20pts. You'd think that Kobe would lead this team in scoring every game this season but no, Kwame Brown had 24pts, 10rebs, and 3blks in an inspired performance to start the season. Kobe had 18pts, 6asts, 4rebs and 3stls which is an overall good performance. Bynum had 11pts, 6rebs and a block. Penny came out firing too, scoring 20pts and dishing out 8 asts. They also had good contribution from the bench mainly from the 2 rookie PFs.
Kobe will have a different challenge this year and that is to help the rookies that are in the team. He will need a more rounded game rather than just score a ton of points.
Phil Jackson did a good job managing his substitution pattern and mostly every one he out on the floor contributed positively.

Gets some pics, even if they're the lousy ones at nba.com. I'd go for yahoo or espn or even better, these:

The Lakers battled against the Suns last night and this is one for the books, I mean if this game was played in real life then this would surely be incuded in the NBA's Hardwood Classics and showed 6 times year on NBA TV. In the history of my Live gaming career, I can remember playing maybe around 4 amazing games. One of them would be last season's Heat double OT win where Wolf bricked like 7 shots to end the game but finding his rythm in OT to win it for the Heat.
This game ended in double OT with a score of 148-134 Lakers win. The Lakers was down for most of the game and was actually down by 8 pts with 1:56 to go in the 4th quarter before Kobe went berserk and scored 8 straight points to tie the game. The Lakers actually led by 2 with 10 seconds to go but Joe Johnson had a lay up and the game goes to OT. Bryant still led the lakers in OT but the game was tight as my banghole and the game goes to 2nd OT. Bryant continued his assault of the Suns and the Lakers had a 4 pt lead with 1 minute left. The biggest play of the day came after when Amare was left one on one with Ronnie Turiaf under the basket and when Amare was about the to make the big ass gorilla dunk, Turiaf block the shit out of the freakin ball and Kobe end up saving it. From then on the Suns could only foul and Penny sank 5 free throws to seal the game.
The game ended with kobe scoring 56pts, 8stls, 3rebs, 2asts, and a block. Marion had 39pts, Amare had 18pts and 20rebs, Bynum had 22pts and 12rebs, Turiaf had 23pts, 10rebs, and 4blks, Odom had 18 and 9, Penny had 11pts and 8asts, and David Lee had 14 and 4.
Kwame Brown, who played a stellar game on the opening game of the season got injured in the first quarter and didn't come back. That opened the opportunity for Turiaf and Lee to showcase their game. Bynum was also injured in the 3rd quarter and was out for like 7 minutes with a upper body injury.
This was one heck of a game, the Lakers didn't fold under pressure and forced their will to win, this just shows how much of an impact Phil Jackson has on this team. David Lee, Turiaf, and Bynum, 3 rookies who played extremely well in the face of momentous odds.

The Lakers won another game but not before losing to the Nuggets the night before. The Nuggets was led my Carmelo's 33pts and got a lot of help from Andre Miller and Camby. Carmelo was unstoppable from the inside and ouside and I don't have a stopper who can keep up with him. it was a nice showdown between him and Kobe who scored 30pts and had 4stls. The Lakers had only had 2 other players score in double figures with Kwame scoring 20pts and Lee scoring 10. Bynum, who was playing injured only had 8pts, 5 rebs, and a block.
The Lakers won their next game against the Hawks even with Lue going Iverson on us, Lue scored a career high of 33pts, 23pts coming from the first half. Kobe had 40pts, 6rebs, 3asts, and 3stls. Bynum, who has recovered from his injury scored 22pts with 8rebs, 3blks, and 3asts. Kwame also had a good game with 18pts, 8rebs, and 6blks. Turiaf and Lee played very well again off the bench to help with the Lakers win, they are both averaging over 9pts per game this early in the season. Bynum is averaging 15.8pts while kobe is averaging 37pts.
I changed the sim lenght from 12 minutes to 11 minutes simply because of the unrealistic averages of the other players, there are 4 players averaging 30pts or more, 5 players averaging more than 15rebs, and 5players averaging more than 3 steals per game. Hopefully, this will change so that i have a chance of winning the MVP with Kobe.

The return of the Zen dude is not looking good as the Lakers lost 2 games in a row. Kobe and Kwame are the only 2 consistent scorers on the team and this is definitely not enough for them to win. Bynum has been getting better with blocks but the Lakers need a 3rd scorer to be competative. They lost each game by 15pts and I absolutely don't understand how they won against Phoenix but lost against the Magic and Blazers. Odom is simply not getting it done and I don't know what to do with the dude, well i haven't figured out what his strenghts are but he is definitely not helping with anything! Phil Jackson have Pippen giving pointers to Odom but Odom is definitely no Pippen, not even a Prince.
Jackson will need to find another way to motivate his players because the only thing going for them right now is Bryant winning League MVP because of his scoring and Kwame winning most improved player because there's nobody else on the team who could score.

why you have 2 dinasties, you should close one and make the other better.

The Lakers have won 2 straight starting with a buzzer beater win against Orlando off a kobe jump shot, and a 30pt win against the Knicks. Kobe led the team in scoring against the Grizzlies with 36pts while Odom, Brown and Penny scored 12 pts each. Gasol led the Grizzlies with 33pts and 12rebs. Kwame Brown had 32pts and 12rebs against the Knicks as the Lakers played their best game against the season. The team seems to be more competative against teams with weak centers. Bynum added 23pts, 8rebs, and 4blks while Kobe added 22. Odom and Penny scored each while Turiaf came off the bench to score 13pts and grab 6rebs. The Knicks was led bu Marbury with 28pts.
I'm now using Andre Barret as my back up point guard and he has been playing better that Vujacic was. He has better shooting and he runs faster. Bynum is averaging 2.65bpg and he is 5th in the league. Kwame is grabing 4.1 offensive rebounds per game and that is good for 3rd in the league. KObe is averaging 33ppg and he is 1st in the league, he is also first in steals with 4spg.

The Lakers have won 6 in row after losing 2 straight. The Lakers were inspired by a renewed Odom who has finally found his place in the Lakers team. Pippen must be working hard on the dude. =) Kobe and Kwame is still leading the team in points but they have finally found a reliable 3rd scorer. Penny and Bynum are providing great support for the 3. Penny is averaging 10ppg and Bynum is averaging 15 and 8. The bench is also playing very well with Lee and Turiaf still playing consistently. Jumaine Jones and Barret have also played consistently providing good shooting and minimal turnovers. The bad news is that Odom was injured during their last game against the Nets. The winning streak is now in jeopardy since their next opponent is the mighty Spurs!

The lakers started the season 3-3 and they have won 10 straight since then. They are now ranked second in the power rankings behing Houston's 14-2 record. Kobe has been getting his 30ppg every night and Kwame has been solid averaging 21ppg and 9.2rpg. The absence of Odom has given Devean George playing time and he has been playing very well shooting the ball from the outside or driving to the hoop.
I'm thinking of releasing Turiaf since he didn't really made it to the floor for the Lakers but I'm just playing it as what could have been. He is teaming up with David Lee on the second team to keep the Lakers above water when the first 5 is on the bench.
Kobe unfortunately didn't win Player of the month coz the award went to Shaq for the West. Baron Davis won it for the East. Bogut was the Rookie of the Month for the East and Deron Williams took it for the West.

I forgot to mention that i traded for Darko and he is now my back up center. I traded Medvedenko and other useless players to the Pistons and 2 another nobodys.

The Lakers continues its rampage as they won 2 more games this weekend. They are now 21-4 and that is truly impressive for a team with no dominant center, i guess they are not missing Shaq anymore. Kobe has been averaging 33pts and is second in the MVP race list behind who else, Shaq daddy. The Lakers overcame Arenas' 35pt performance to beat the Wizards 110-99. Kobe scored 38pts in that game and i found out that his freestyle setting is set on outside scorer so i changed it to Highflyer so i can see more dunks. Kwame Brown is still solid under the basket averaging almost a double double with 19.8pts and 9.3rebs. Turiaf and Milicic are coming off the bench to provide steady scoring inside.
The game against the Magic was more challenging with Dwight Howard and Francis leading their team, not to mention Grant Hill who is still clocklike 18pts, 7rebs, 5asts player. But my bench contributed 32pts, led by Milicic's 9pts, 5rebs, and 2 blks performance. Kobe scored 33pts to lead the Lakers along with 4rebs, 3asts and 3stls. Bynum had a good game with 16pts, 12rebs, and 3blks, hopefully his strong performance this month earns him the rookie of the month award. Brown had 22pts and 14rebs.

Thanks JXU.

I'd really like to post pics if i had the capability, Kobe has made some nasty dunks, and yesterday while I was playing against the Rockets, Odom made the play of the game by blocking a Yao Ming dunk attempt that led to a fast break on the other end with him making the 2 handed gorilla dunk, ugh! That pushed my lead to 8pts when it could have been down to 4. The Rockets are number 1 in the power rankings and the Lakers are number 2. Kobe scored 28pts, Brown had 20pts and 14rebs, while Bynum had 16pts, 12rebs, and 6blks.

The Lakers finished December with a win against the Grizzlies. kobe finished with 40 points despite playing in deep foul trouble the whole game. 3 more players were in double figure for the Lakers and that was enough to beat the scrappy grizzlies. The game was seesaw all through out until Bryant took over to score 14pts in the 4th quarter. Kwame grabbed 3 offensive rebounds in one possession to help the Lakers keep a 4 point lead in the last 2 minutes. Hardaway sealed the win with 4 free throws in the last 30 seconds.
Bryant won Player of the Month Award averaging 36.5pts, 3.6rebs, 2asts, and 3stls. Bynum was rookie of the month with 16.3pts, 9rebs, and 3blks. It's going to be a big challenge for both of them to overcome Shaq and Bogut in winning the MVP and Rookie of the year awards.
