The practice match against New Jersey has finshed.
Incase you guys are wondering i am playing 6 minute quarters with my own sliders. The subsitution slider is up at 95 so that the court time is shared around, so you won't usually see someone scoring 25+ points.
Chicago (79) def. New Jersey (67)
Man Of the match was Robert Skrnjug, who continues his good form.
The leading point scorers for Chicago were:
Robert Skurnjug (19)
Nick Pringle (10)- which is quite remarkable considering he only played 3 mins!, lol
Scott Clements (9)
Nicholas Pescod (8)
Julian Silva (8)
Jason Kidd was the one man team tonight, he scored 29 points.
Chicago started well and were looking like they were going to do it easy. Halfway through the first quarter the score was 11-2, Chicago playing some excellent defence forcing New Jersey to shoot a lot from outside. But New Jersey fought back through Kidd and Carter and at the end of the quarter it was 19-11.
The second half saw a lot of blunders from Chicago, missing easy shots and turning over the ball. They probably attempted too many 3's and unluckily for them none went in. At half time it was 37-36, Chicago holding a slender lead.
The 3rd quarter was the most even of the game. Skurnjug was on fire and Pescod just kept dishing it off to him. New jersey actually hit the fron after Kidd netted two 3's in a row, but a couple of good defensive plays from Clements and Silva saw the bulls get back on top.
In the last quarter the Bulls ran away with it, shooting a much higher percentage than earlier in the game and the defensive pressure was top class.
When interveiwed after the game, coach Tim Macdonald had this to say:
"I was very happpy how the boys played today, it was extremly impressive considering it was their first run together. The defensive pressure was great all game and i was really happy with that aspect of our game. Skrunjug was outstanding again, as he was also impressive in our 1 on 1 competition. The only things i was disspaointed with were our field goal percentage, especially the 3's, and lack of assists. They were dissapointing considering we have some very good shots on the team and we couldn't even hit one 3 for the whole game. At least it gives us some things to work on before the season starts."
