The La Clippers have appointed a new general manager of basketball operations and also will be assistant coach to the team.

Here is a personal letter written by Mousey Stevens to the clipper supporters-
Enjoy--

Dear Clipper Supporters

Welcome to a new beginning for the La Clippers.

I am Mousey Stevens, and I am the new general manager of the La Clippers. I am a busy man but I am taking time to tell the La Clipper Fans what I am thinking and how this will affect the team.

Expect big changes this season and in the future, I have been appointed the general manager as obviously the Clippers are not as appreciated as the cross town rival Lakers, and I have come in to make a difference and try get this team going.

Not only will I be general manager but I will also be an assistant coach to Mike Dunleavy Snr.

Expect Diary entries after every game or when something big happens in the organization, thanks to Sony for supporting the Clips and giving me a Laptop so I can easily do this work on the road.

You will hear from me very soon as we have our first team meeting and training camp starting later today, so you will find out a bit more about the team members and how they are looking for the upcoming season.

Thanks for visiting and I look forward to the beginning of something special happening in Clipper land.

Yours sincerely

Mousey Stevens

Training Camp- Day1

Hey Clip Fans

Well day 1 of training camp has just finished and it was quite a interesting day at the staple centre practice gym.

First of all we started mid mourning with a conditioning session held by newly appointed conditioning coach Ken Carter and let me tell you he wasnt popular with some players as they started nicknaming him ' Hitler' as he made them do suicide after suicide and then pushups after pushups. I was impressed with what he did and it let me see who were the players commited to getting better.

Then we broke up for lunch for an hour and then reported in the media room where we had a team meeting. I addressed the team and introduced myself nervously but most players took to me but i kind of cut and pasted words out of the movie remember the titans but shhh they dont know that!:) We all discussed how our ultimate goal for this season was to take game by game rather than thinking playoffs. I asked the players if any of them wanted to talk to me about any personal things may they do so after the one on one tournament planned for the afternoon session.

This afternoon we organised a one on one tournament for some of the players while others continued to work with Ken Carter. The Matchups were drawn up and posted on the wall as follows-
C. Kaman Vs Z. Rebraca
E.Brand Vs C. Wilcox
C. Maggete Vs B. Simmons
S.Livingston Vs M. Jaric

We felt this would be a good thing to do to see what players have improved on their skills over the holiday break.

So some recaps-

C.Kaman Vs Z.Rebraca
Image
Great game of strength and inside defence! Kaman really surprised me with his quickness for a big man and had some nice hook shot moves, most impressing thing he got 9 blocks in the game!!! Kaman took the honours with a 12- 9 Victory.

E.Brand Vs C.Wilcox
Image
Wow! C.Wilcox was in the lead the whole game and actually intimidated Brand who's head really did not look into the game, we had to stop twice as he wanted to be excused to go to the toilet, not sure what thats about but he had his mobile in his shorts and it rang everytime he was excused. He did come out victorious in the end with a 11-8 win.

C.Maggete Vs B.Simmons
Image
Dominating performance by Corey. Put on a real show and looked very dertermined to prove to Mr Dunleavy and I that he is really ready for the upcoming season.
Easy win 12-2

S.Livingston Vs M.Jaric

oh baby oh baby! Do we have a player in Livingston? You bet we do! I was extatic when we drafted him as i followed him closely before this years draft! His speed and height for a big boy is unbelievable has great sense of the basket and cant wait to see him in the practice game as i have heard his passing skills are awsome.
He just lost though 15-13

And that was it, it gave Dunleavy and i a great first look at how the players are and where they can help the team. I have a few interviews with players this after noon concerning personal matters, so hopefully before i hit the hay tonight i will tell you what some of the players wanted to talk about, spose to be confidential but shhhh;)

Thanks and hope you enjoying it so far!

Hey Clipper Fans

well its 9pm at night and what a long 1st day of training camp its been!

After the one on one tournament players who wanted to talk to me about any personal things could do so. Players who booked interviews for the 1st day were C.Maggete, M.Jaric and E.Brand.

C.Maggete interview was nothing exciting to report he just wanted me to know that he is excited to play for Dunleavy and I and is keen to prove that he can have an impact this season.

M.Jaric said that he wasnt too comfortable with his position in the team, having Livingston now he knows he is such a talent and he wants playing time still but if thats not possible to try find him a good home where he can contribute more if he cant do so here.

E.Brand- This was a big one, we sat down for 30 minutes and it was preety emotional atmosphere in the room. He told me that he is sorry about having to be excused from the one on one today but his wife kept ringing him on the phone. I asked what it was all about and he told me that his wife has moved to -------------- to be with her family and has a job offer there and he doesnt want to be away from her so would like me to try organise a trade with that city if possible, if not he is happy to remain a clip but wants some privlidges to visit the city more often or not as they have a young boy that he wants to be a good father too!

Well its been a huge first day at work! I am going to be a very very busy man tommrow i have too-
* ring- ---------- Team to see if they have interest in brand first and if so try work out a trade that benifets us just as much as them as he is a vital part of the organization.
* Conditioning session with Mr Carter again.
* Sit down with Dunleavy and work out the open scrimmage we are organising for some available Free agents and also the Annual Clippers Pre-season practice game we have to work out the teams for that.

Well thanks for being part of the 1st day of my job and i look forward on telling you how things are going and what exactly im thinking of doing wit the team. Till tommrow.......

Yours faithfully

Hey Clip Fans

It’s that time of the day where i have some spare time to fill you guys in what’s been happening around the place on the second day of training camp!

Training Camp goes for 3 days, tomorrow being the final day we have organised a practice game tomorrow night open to the public! Tip-off being at 7. 30 pm EST.

Anyway back to today’s events,

Mourning session- Conditioning sessions with Ken Carter and again it was a tough sessions for the players as Ken really worked them hard!
Afternoon session we got with the players and went through some plays we are going to try run offensively and defensively this season.

Trade wise I was on the phone all day trying to get the mystery city that Elton wants to go too, they are very interested in him but we are still trying to make a deal that works fairly financially too, which is never easy.
Also Have had some interest in M.Jaric and something might work out there very soon also.
We invited a few free agents today to work out with the boys and they had a chance to work with Scottie also.

6foot5 C.Alexander
And
6 foot 5 Romain Sato

We were impressed with Romain and know there is a few fans of his that live in LA, he’s an exciting young player and has a lot of potential. We invited him to the practice game tomorrow and that will be his chance to show us he can contribute towards the team.

Well that’s it from me at the moment; back to the phones I go hopefully will try get a deal by the end of the night and release it to the press ASAP, so we can try get the new players we get in uniform for tomorrow nights practice game.

Cheers

Mousey Stevens

Hey Clip fans!

Reporting this update from the air port! Yes you guessed right, I have found a new home for Elton Brand. I have not released this to the media yet but I thought I would let my favourite people know first!

As many of you know Elton wanted me to trade him to a city where his wife has moved too due to work commitments and some other personal matters. The city I was talking about was Denver. As soon as Elton said Denver, I automatically thought we would have no chance but I gave it a shot and rang Kiki Vandeweghe who is the GM of the Denver Nuggets. To my surprise Kenyon had asked for exactly the same thing, he asked to be traded this season as he wasn’t happy with playing with Carmello anymore and missed his girlfriend too much who lives in LA. So it worked out perfectly! We did the simplest way to trade and that was one for one!
Kenyon Martin for Elton Brand.

So im just seeing Elton off at the airport now, I took a picture of him as he is about to bored the plane, sad in some ways but I can’t be any happier with what we got in return!

The proper Press Conference should be done a bit later, but stay posted!

Hey Clip fans

Just finished the press conference with Kenyon at the Staple Centre this mourning. I thought i would get you guys a transcript on what was said at the conference.

Also the practice game for the fans is on at the staple centre tonight so if you havent got your tickets please do so at the door. Tip off is at 7.30pm EST, come show the Clippers that you are behind them this year.

Heres the conference transcript-

Good mourning ladies and gentleman and thank you for coming to this mornings La Clipper Press Conference as we have an announcement to make for the organization.

As some of you already know as it was leaked on nba-live.com forums Elton Brand has been traded to Denver for Kenyon Martin. We are sad to see Elton go but he had some personal reasons why he wanted to be traded to Denver and we wish him all the luck in the future of his career.

Kenyon Martin is a 6 foot 9 Power Forward that was drafted out of Cincinnati in 2000. He has explosive moves to the basket and plays with a fans dream style. He’s fun to watch, he’s a great guy to be around and we are very proud to introduce him as our new starting power forward of the franchise.
Please welcome Kenyon Martin aka KMART.

Kenyon will answer any questions you might have for him now-

ESPN-Kenyon how does it feel to be traded to LA before you can even play at Denver?

Kenyon- It feels great, when I got traded to Denver, I was very unhappy with the situation as Nene, Carmello and I have our differences and don’t see eye to eye. Im so excited to have the opportunity to play for the LA Clippers as I really think I can help them win a lot more games this season.

LA Times- Kenyon, welcome to LA first of all. The LA Clippers have been struggling for many years now and had a dismal 28-54 win loss record last season, how are you going to turn this organisation around?

Kenyon- I’m going to try be a leader on this team, im going to play my heart out game by game, im going to do everything I can to bring winning scores to this club. Im Kmart! Straight up man, no disrespect to Elton but he is a lot different player to me. Expect to see fast paced style of basketball, Laker Showtime basketball is the past Clipper Showtime basketball is now!

ESPN- What is the most exciting thing about being able to play with this team?
Kenyon- Man there is plenty to be excited about--- Shaun Livingston , the kid can play I went to a few of his high school games and he has mad skill and is only two feet smaller than me and plays point guard! There’s potential there to burn! Corey has a lot of game and I think we will compliment very well together.

LaTimes- How do you feel playing under Mike Dunleavy Snr and new Manager Mousey Stevens?

Kenyon- Very excited coach dunleavy is a very smart basketball coach, and I look forward on learning from him, Mousey Stevens is probably the sweetest General Manager Ive ever met. First time I met him he told me what he expects and if I needed anything to always ask him.

Mousey Stevens-Last questions everyone

Espn- You have been known to lose your cool and swing a few punches in your career, are you going to continue this here?

Kenyon- Don’t be stupid man, im grown now man, I want to be a leader on this team I have to be an example to the younger kids, it’s a new beginning for me and I can’t wait to get stuck into work.

Mousey Stevens- Thanks for your questions everybody but that’s all we have time for today. Kenyon will be present for today’s practice game to the public but will not take the court , as he just got here we don’t see any reason to shove him in straight away.
Thanks everybody.

Hey Guys

What a night it was the annual Clippers practice game in front of the fans.
We split up the group in 2 teams; one was the clippers the other was dressed in retro laker jerseys just for some fun.

The night was a huge hit! I was surprised as we actually got to a sell out and people really seemed to enjoy their night at the basketball.

Where should I start… Kenyon Martin did not play but attended on courtside seats and the crowd went absoloutly crazy when the announcer asked them “ Are you guys happy Kmart is in town or what?” the crowd stood up and yelled as loud as I have ever heard at the staple centre, Kenyon sat and smiled and enjoyed the game heaps.

Image

The teams were-
Clippers White-
C.Kaman
M. Moore
C.Maggette
K.Kittles
M.Jaric

Clippers Blue-
C.Wilcox
Z.Rebraca
B.Simmons
R.Sato
S.Livingston

So as you can see we spit them up in what we believe is the starting five at this stage to the bench and also Sato was added as a trial game to give him a chance at a spot on the side.

The Final score was 58-44 which is not bad as it was only 6 minute quarters. I only was a spectator for this game and just watched Dunleavy do his work and didn’t touch a thing.
Ok some recaps of player performances-

C.Kaman- 0 points, 1 rebound, 6 blocks: Destroyed by Wilcox on the boards but his defensive blocking was good.

M.Moore- 4 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks – Awesome effort and was a fan favourite

C. Maggette- player of the game with 25 points 2 rebounds and 3 blocks

K. Kittles- 18 points 3 steals- Very consistent effort through 4 quarters.

M.Jaric- 11 points, 4 assists, 4 steals- outplayed Livingston

Clippers Blue-
C.Wilcox 2 points, 8 rebounds 4 blocks- Really showed what he can do if given a chance.

Z Rebraca- 4 points 3 rbs 2 blocks- Did ok

B.Simmons- 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals- Did everything! Great effort by him against match up partner Maggette

R.Sato- 20 point 3 rebounds surprised everyone in the building and was a fan favourite, awesome display of offence and defence! 8/15FG and he was four from six downtown too.

S.Livingston- 5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, 2 steals- Outplayed by Jaric but did some amazing things that got the crowd on their feet.

It was a great night and things looked on track with how some players were performing. We have training sessions for the next few days before the start of the season, I will be releasing the schedule very soon to the public.

Thanks again and hope you are enjoying my diary.

Yours faithfully

Romain Sato was shooting over anyone and anything! He was unstoppable and has made it preety obvious that LA Clippers will sign him for a roster spot this year.

Image
Wilcox really played well and impressed Dunleavy and i and is probably edging Kaman for the starting centre job.

Image
Livingston did not play as good as Jaric but thrilled the crowd with some amazing moves.

Hey Clip Fans

Well its been a preety busy day at the office, heres what went down-

We managed to come to an agreement to sign 6 foot 5 shooting guard Romain Sato this mourning and we are very please to have signed him as he proved he deserved a roster spot on the side when he produced 20 points in the Practice game yesterday.

Also today we had the whole team present where we officially welcomed Kenyon and Romain to the playing squad. This was the last conditioning session we will have before the season starts and it last 2 hours and let me tell you most of the players are exhausted but are in very high spirits and no injuries have taken place through the whole camp so that is excellent news.

ESPN was present today and are doing a section on the Clippers tonight in their pre-season preview, it will cover the signing of Romain and the trade with Kenyon.

Till next time,

Tonight we look at the offseason work by new General Manager of the La Clippers Mousey Stevens, has he done a good job? We get some of your views soon and also Chad Ford decides how the Clippers off season has gone.

Chad Ford quick comments- I have been down in LA covering what the Clippers have been up too and i think they have done a great job. Elton Brand although a great player has been here a while now and has had no success due to some injury problems, Kenyon Martin will fit this team great and the crowd will love his energy he brings to every game, things are looking on the up for the Clippers.

What do you guys out there think of the trade and the signing of Romain Sato? Tell us what you think!?

Romain Sato has signed with the LA Clippers after a great perfomance at the annual clipper practice game infront of a packed out Staple Centre, The LA community has really taken to this young six foot five shooting guard and celebrated the news as it was released today.

Image
Romain Sato shown leaving the La Clippers Office and fans waiting outside congratulating him on the signing.

Image

We spoke to Romain and asked him what he thought about getting a chance with the Clippers-
Romain- Man, i cant explain the feeling, i been working super hard all offseason, and im ready to do anything for this organization, Im proud to be a Clipper.

Image

Did the Clippers make the right choice getting Kenyon Martin in exchange for Elton Brand?
Image
I think it was a great idea to bring kenyon to LA. Clippers have sucked for years, Elton is a great player but doesnt bring in the crowds, Kenyon is a fantastic character and will get crowds flocking to the staple centre to see the new look Clippers instead of the Lakers. Good Call Mousey Stevens!

Image
Wilbon you are clueless on the sport of basketball arnt you! Kenyon is not a player you want your young guys looking up too! Hes temper lets his potential go down. Until i see with my own two eyes that he can make a difference ill eat my words and admit i was wrong but till then Mousey Stevens has made a terrible start to his GM Career.

Well that wraps up our ESPN preview of the Clippers offseason be watching during the season as we follow how the new looking Clippers franchise goes.

Bye Bye for Now!
