LOS ANGELES LAKERS 95/96 Franchise - Game 1 vs. Mavs Updated

Postby PRoPuLsiOnDJ on Wed Aug 11, 2004 1:21 pm

Alright guys, I've ended the GS Warriors dynasty and started this new one with my favorite team. I'll be using Andrew's 95/96 patch and the format will probably be similar to my last thread.

I will not play every game in the season. However, I will play the games that I think are important. I want to get to the postseason fast .

At the end of the year, I will draft rookies based on the 1996 draft. Anyways here it goes:

Los Angeles Lakers:

C - Vlade Divac (68 ovrl)
PF - Elden Campbell (66 ovrl)
SF - Magic Johnson (75 ovrl)
SG - Eddie Jones (73 ovrl)
PG - Nick Van Exel (72 ovrl)

Season Preview:

Welcome to the beginning of the 1995/1996 season. This is a season that we have all been looking forward to. First of all, we have the return of Michael Jordan up in Chicago. Next, we have the new rookie class headed by first overall pick, Joe Smith. However, everybody has their eyes on high schooler Kevin Garnett. He is the first high schooler selected in the draft in 20 years. If this kid flourishes this season, then he can clearly change the face of the NBA. We might see other kids following his footsteps into the NBA very soon. And that's not all folks! The NBA has never been this competitive with so many top-notch teams. We have the Orlando Magic, the Houston Rockets, the Seattle Sonics, the Indiana Pacers, the Chicago Bulls, the New York Knicks, the Phoenix Suns, the Utah Jazz, and the Miami Heat. This season will be one hell of a thrill. Hop on for the ride!

Season Opener

Game 1

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Dallas Mavericks

Preview:

We have two teams that are on the rise going at each other. The Los Angeles Lakers have the second year phenom Eddie Jones who had a tremendous rookie campaign last year. They also have veterans Vlade Divac and Elden Campbell on the team. And the biggest surprise of all, Magic Johnson is back! That's right folks, Mr. Showtime is back. Can he bring showtime back to LA? We'll see this season.

On the other hand, the Dallas Mavericks have rising stars in Jason Kidd and Jamal Mashburn. Mashburn has been on the rise since his awesome rookie season and the same can be said for Kidd. These two players have stardom written on their foreheads.

So get ready for game 1 tonight at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, CA.

I think you should draft them according to the order of the draft as determined by the results of the season (ie not the way it actually turned out in real life).

Mashburn and the Mavs walk out Victorious!

Welcome to the NBA. The season hasn't even begun and we are already seeing some playoff type
games. That's right folks! That's exactly what it was last night as the Dallas Mavericks walked
into the forum to hand the Lakers their first loss in some nerve-wrenching fashion.Last night's
game had it all: long range shooting, dunk highlights, fierce defense, and last-minute heroics.
What a way to begin the season for us fans!

Jamal Mashburn led all scorers with 29 points; which included 5 three pointers, several dunks,
and some major ass-whoppin. Jason Kidd contributed with 9 points, 4 steals, and 7 assists.George
McCloud was a boost off the bench with 17 points on 6 of 9 shooting.

The Lakers were led by Magic Johnson - who proved to everyone that he can still play - with 20
points, 8 steals, and 4 assists. Nick Van Exel contributed with 15 points and 4 assists; Eddie Jones
scored 13 points and Vlade Divac scored 10 and grabbed 12 boards.

The whole game was filled with lead changes. The Lakers looked like they were in control in the
third quarter as they led by 7 points heading into the fourth. However, Jamal Mashburn suddenly got
hot and was unstoppable. And with 44 seconds left in the game, Jim Jackson flew by everyone for the
sweet dunk (which turned out to be the game winner). Nick Van Exel's three point attempt clanked off
at the buzzer.

Final Score:

Dallas Mavericks - 85
Los Angeles Lakers - 84

Yes definitely great work here! (especially with the fact that it's with the Lakers !) Hey since you said that you'll soon be in Playoff mode, could you please send me your pstat file for the end of the season? (emocore@polarcomm.com) I'd like to know how the 96 Lakes faired against the rest of our dynasties!

Keep up the rocking screen shots too!

After loading your Dynasty, go to GM's Desk, then select Stats Central, then Player Stats. If it's not selected, Choose your Dynasty team, Season, and the current year and then click Save Stats. The pstatXX.txt file will be located in the playerstats folder in the NBA Live 2004 folder in My Documents.

Hey if you're slightly past the Allstar break, please send me that one too before you finish off the season. Thanks PRoPuLsiOnDJ!

from the anals of The Birdie Project: (more info)
PRoPuLsiOnDJ's Los Angeles Lakers: 1995-96 Mid-season
Image
(a nice cleaner look)
So, after a four year absense from the league, Magic Johnson still shows that he's got skillz- being the team's MVP with a weighted Birdie score of 19.89
This Dynasty is currently ranked #5 on the all-time Birdie Board

Thanks PRoPuLsiOnDJ! Looking forward to your end of year pstats!

Note: But what's up with Elden Cambell, are you dumping it down low big time?

It's called Showtime Basketball my friend

and by the way ... thanx for the birdie stuff.
It looks neat although I don't understand how it works.
And it's good to know that my dynasty is ranked fifth.

Not a problem, , I'm just looking forward to your end of season Pstats!
That's funny, I never remember the 'Lake Show' ever running through Elden's hands
If you read through my thread you'll get a better understanding...essentially it gives you an idea of who rules and is proficient in your Dynasty vs who sucks and who should sit down.

Let me know when you finish the season!

I think those are pretty much the numbers that Elden averaged when he played for us. But hey, If you have Magic on your team, then anything's possible  . Showtime runs through him.

I find the 95-96 patch a little misleading in terms of the Lakers as Johnson didn't quite start the season with the Lakes...but I clearly remember the disappointing playoff lost to Houston with Sedale Threatt sitting on the bench staring at space and Johnson looking pretty surrendered to the loss. well, that's digressing from the dynasty thread...BEAT HOUSTON OKAY?!

My school session just started and I can't give any time to this.

I hope you understand and I hope that you're not too disappointed.

I might bring it back at a later time (If I have the time).

Thanks to all who have responded with good comments. :D
