Welcome to my Washington Wizards Dynasty!!
I have kept Devin Harris on the team and instead have given Dallas Chris Whitney and Jared Jeffires due to the fact Stackhouse is better then Jamison in the game and you cannot trade cash. I’m not a fan of the Wizards. I have made transactions that I believe will happen this off season and put many of the 1st round draft picks of this year into the game.
During this Dynasty a lot of information will come from my mock radio station KWIZ here I will ask myself questions about the dynasty. I also think it would be really cool if you people might want to ask questions about the team and I answer them just like sports talk radio. I will post stats and important news also.
I will be playing 6 min qtrs with realistic sliders. 6 min doesn’t sound like a lot but when I usually play on this level it gives me realistic scores.
The major transactions I have made are
Dallas trades Dirk Nowitzki to LA Lakers in exchange for Shaquille O’Neal
Houston trades Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato in exchange for Tracy McGrady and Juwan Howard
The Rookies added are
Ben Gordon
Luol Deng
Pavel Podkolzine
Kris Humphries
Jameer Nelson
Dwight Howard
Sebastion Telfair
Josh Smith
Robert Swift
David Harrison
Andris Biedrins
Kirk Snyder
Josh Childress
Andre Iguodala
Delonte West
Al Jefferson
Devin Harris
Luke Jackson
Shaun Livingston
My Starting Lineup
G-Gilbert Arenas (72)
G-Devin Harris (73)
F-Antwan Jamison (73)
F-Kwame Brown(64)
C-Brendan Haywood (55)
Bench
Larry Hughes (69)
Juan Dixon (55)
Jarvis Hayes (55)
Etan Thomas (54)
Steve Blake (52)
Roster Analysis
I really really like my young backcourt of Arenas and Harris I think they will develop and become the premier guards for years to come. I also obviously am very pleased with Jamison at the 3 he is a very versatile player who suits the team well and will flourish like he did in Golden State. I can deal with Kwame Brown being a weak spot at the 4 but I can not do with Haywood he is just way too horrible to start. Hughes is a very good 6th man but other then that the bench is mediocre but young. The wizards have 5 open spots on the roster and will be picking up free agents. 3 of these pos are injured reserve.
Season Outlook
Obviously I would like to make the playoffs but I don’t believe that is a very reasonable prediction. So I would like to win 35-41 games and be around .500. Harris wont take long to fit in and I believe he and Arenas will combine to do very well. I also think that Jamison will be my star and become one of the premier 3’s in the NBA. I also think Kwame Brown will improve.
On the block
Haywood and Hughes are seeming like a good package to get a better C it will weaken my depth but I cannot have Haywood as a starter. Also anybody on the bench liable to a trade.
Season Goals
Team-To improve on last years record and to make a run at .500.
Gilbert Arenas-Lead team in assists avg over 15 ppg.
Devin Harris-Make all Rookie Team avg 15ppg 7apg
Antwan Jamison-All star avg 20 ppg make All NBA 2nd team
Kwame Brown-Prove to people that he’ not a bust
Brenden Haywood-Not get traded (its gonna happen)
Larry Hughes-Not get traded work self into starting position
Jarvis Hayes-Make all Rookie 2nd team
Sports talk radio
Hey I’m Spencer Hayes and this is KWIZ your all time talk about your Washington Wizards. Wizards fans the big news this week is the trade. Devin Harris excelled at Wisconsin and I think that he is a great pick at the #5 spot. Jamison is an exciting player and I’m sure you Washington fans will be glad he’s here. Larry Hughes is as good as gone because right now our boys have no Height at all. Now lets take some calls Jim your on the air!
Jim: Hi Spencer do you think now that we have Jamison we can make the playoffs?
No way Jim I’m sorry to say but they just do not have enough depth or expierence to make the playoffs but I do believe they will improve on last years mark and make a run in 2 or 3 years thanks for your call.
Bob talk to me
Bob: During the upcoming season do you think the owner will shell out some big bucks for a major free agent?? Because Jamison is good but we still need another good player and some depth to make a deep playoff run
Yes he will the city is again excited about this team and he will have to pay money to a Kmart or Sheed Wallace if he wants to sell tickets.
Ron your next on
Ron: Hi Spence its obvious to almost all of us that Haywood and Hughes will be traded but who do you think we will get for them?
Brad miller pops into my mind as a good choice but who knows they want a good young center or a medium player and a draft pick they could make this trade now or the day before the deadline but these two barring some type of miracle start or a vast improvement by Haywood they are gone.
That does it for today make sure to tune it here after all Wizard games for THE WIZ postgame show with me Spencer Hayes.
Attendance
The MCI Center holds just over 20,000 people and the Wizards will try to improve there attendance which was abysmal last season.
Sun Jun 27, 2004 9:21 am
Wizards training camp did not go well not on person improved in any categories.
The Wizards picked up 5 free agents at the League minimum for 1 year. They were
R.Dupree (57)
Q.Lewis (56)
S.Kemp (56)
L.Ellis (56)
R.Mercer (55)
This is a vast improvement to there depth and will help a lot.
Currently the Wizards are $4.568 million over the salary cap
They have only one free agent making over the minimum and that is Etan Thomas who is currently making $2.2 million.
They have 3 large contracts that stand out above the rest of the team and fairly these are the 3 best players.
A.Jamison-$11 million
D.Harris-$11 million
G.Arenas-$8.5 million
Welcome Back to KWIZ im your host Spencer Hayes and this is your Wizards pre-season talk. Big day yesterday for the Wiz signing 5 yes 5 free agents!! Most of these players are veterans for cheap so overall I think this was a very smart by the Wizards GM. The Wizards are however in Financial trouble they are over the cap with no real money release coming up this off-season due to the lack of free agents. Now lets take your calls and find out what you think about this free agent FRENZY!
Chris you are on KWIZ
Chris: I would just like to say drafting Devin Harris was NOT a good move I think he is overrated and his contract is ENOURMOUS AND HE HASN’T EVEN SET FOOT ON THE COURT! We should have let him go to Dallas with Stack and then we would have much more cap room.
We don’t need Cap room with this kid he is the FUTURE I guarantee he will one day become a star and that day you will eat your words. I do however agree with you that his contract is absurdly big for a rookie.
Lionel tell us whats on ya mind
Lionel: I think the Wiz are in trouble they just signed a bunch of has been under achiever old farts and I don’t believe these moves helped our team as much as they will try to make us believe and it hurt us Cap wise.
I do think this was a smart move because it gives us leadership and experience that we were lacking and it didn’t cost that much money! These are great moves now these players can pave the way for our younger players.
That’s all for today make sure to tune in to the KWIZ post game show after the Chicago game cya then!
NEWS:
Jazz sign Eddie Griffin
Sonics sign Walt Williams
Suns sign Jelani Mccoy
Sun Jun 27, 2004 12:43 pm
Dude you should edit the players dbf and make Devin Harris' contract smaller, no rookie is payed that much. i take it you didnt draft him you jst created then put him on your team?

Tough loss tonight for the Wizards. Hi im Spencer Hayes and this is KWIZ. A lot of early problems tonight for the Wizards the 1st being they had the lead and gave it up. Early on they were passing and watching waiting for someone else to do something. They played little to no D with the exception of Arenas who had 6 steals. First half was all big men with Kwame and Haywood starting off hot but where were they in the 2nd half?? Gilbert took over in the 3rd and had the majority of his 22 points there. Lets take a call
Christian wats up
Christian: I cant believe they lost this one they had a double digit lead pretty much the entire 3rd quarter and most of the 4th but somehow lost it. This is just like last year and for the Wizards to get on track I think they need to make some moves because this is not a team that will contend for the playoffs.
I agree they need to make some moves but its not the end of the world I know they gave up a big lead but at the end of the day its only 1 loss.
What is with this half and half stuff though?? In the 1st half Haywood and Kwame came out hot and you almost thought why are we trading Haywood and then they disappeared.
I thought the rookie Harris did alright but he needs to contribute more for us to win.
Jack your on the air
Jack: What happened to Brendan Haywood early on he looked set to prove that he was not a person they wanted to trade and then he just vanished and told us o yeah this is why! He needs to be out right now the sooner the better.
Haywood did come out hot and then cooled off considerably but I think we need to hang on too him for at least 10-20 games and see how he works out then we can shop him.
Ryan talk to me
Ryan: Where was the bench tonight nobody showed up off the bench and im huge Larry Hughes fan but he nor anybody else was anywhere too be seen if were gonna go anywhere we need our bench to be productive.
I agree with you although Jarvis Hayes was very productive in 2 minutes. I have to point out that the bench got VERY limited playing time it was all about feeling the starters tonight there is only so many minutes and I guess coach Eddie Jordan felt that none of the bench players earned more time.
Thanks Ryan now were taking YOUR calls NLSC!!!!!

KWIZ
Welcome once again to KWIZ another tough loss for the old boys in blue tonight. Again this is a game that they could have won but again didnt play defense and gave up costly offensive rebounds. They could just not consistently score and kept having to make runs to catch up and they could not contain Mr Carter now lets go to the phones
Greg your on the air
Greg: We need ot BENCH the Rookie Devin Harris dont give me this blah blah about his stats he is undersized and he dosnt defend well please somebody show some sense!!!
'Now greg i think that you are jumping to conclusions but i do agree that it might be better for an unexpirenced rookie to come off the bench and let Larry Hughes start
Kyle speak ya mind
Kyle:Kwame Brown is playing very well and i think its finally time we give him his props
I agree he is playing great all around basketball and is almost living up to expecatations ALMOST
Lyle welcom to KWIZ
Lyle:When and with who is the Haywood deal going to happen im tired of seeing that slacker play on our team!
Actually he hasnt played badly so far this year but as you said they are shopping him and im very interested what will happen regarding that trade
Tune in for the next KWIZ postgame show

Hehe I would take the one that gets you Ratliff or Miller. Randolph is the best talent there, but that's a bit cheap and he's not a real 5 (and neither is Kwame). Plus, Ratliff can save you a few points every game, trust me on that. I would take Ratliff because you don't really need another scorer/distributor on offense w/Jamison, Arenas, Hayes, and Harris. Looking good so far

.

^thanks man im just tryin to do somethin different then everyone else
Lol its about time someone did...
B.Miller and Massenburg
I'd go with that, just because it seems more realistic then the others.

KWIZ
The Streak hits 3 as our Wizards lose a sloppy game to the nets from jersey. Hi im Spencer Hayes and once again you’re tuned into the KWIZ postgame show. There were many problems tonight but the biggest thing that stands out to me was the amount of misses in the paint. There were 18! Kwame and Gilbert both missed 5 layups each!! That is unacceptable. I can deal with missing shots but layups no you are NBA players and this is what your payed for to make shots. Kwame was horrid tonight on the offensive side but was very bright on the defensive side. Lets hit the phones
Karl your on the air
Karl: What the HELL happened tonight they played like trash they cant keep relying on Jamison for all the offense I mean what is the deal why cant anyone else score???
Well Karl that is a problem and a question they will have to answer in the upcoming games if they want to win. The thing that stands out to me is that they go through stretches where people hog the ball. I mean Brad Miller had 10 1st qtr points and then it was like they said your done for the night and he barely touched the ball.
Stu welcome to KWIZ
Stu: Hey Spencer Long time listener first time caller. What do you think about the trade?
Thanks for the call when I heard about this trade I was thrilled we finally have a real NBA center and we kept our guard depth we won in this trade but tonight it did no come out in the game.
Paul whats up?
Paul: Gilbert was 3/13 tonight when do we bench him and start Bobby Jackson?
Very soon Paul they way he played tonight was disgusting and another game like this and he will be coming off the bench.
Thanks for the Calls make sure to tune in after the next game against Dallas!! Im Spencer Hayes for KWIZ.

Nice franchise. You will find that Arenas will suck almost every game unless he's getting WIDE open mid-range jumpshots. Live made him pretty bad in this game and unless you sky rocket his ratings before yuo start your franchise, he generally sux. I've started doing a franchise with the Wizards also, and Gilbert was 3/11 in my game in Toronto. He also had 6 TO's, which werent my fault actually. I'm actually considering trading Gilbert, and you will end up doing the same.
Wed Jun 30, 2004 1:55 am
Im gonna stick with Gilbert and maybe get a good draft pick

When a team is having trouble Dallas with Shaq is not a team you wanna run into but we did and the game was pretty close until the 4th. They just had too many weapons tonight and we couldn’t stop them. Hi welcome to the 4th straight unhappy KWIZ post game show tonight was just the better team winning. Dallas is by far superior in every aspect and we had no chance of winning. They are better at every position including the bench and they played like they should. The outcome of this game did not surprise me at all. I will not be taking calls due to the fact there is nothing to talk about other then how good Dallas is.

Thu Jul 01, 2004 2:28 am
DAMN! nobody likes me dynasty
Thu Jul 01, 2004 3:09 am
well actually its good, you didnt steal anything from anyone and youre a good writer
i learned that when you dont get comments its not always that your dynasty/patch isnt good, maybe the people are just enjoying it without posting
Thu Jul 01, 2004 3:15 am
Yeah I like it. I think sometimes people can post a bit too much, then it just ruins the flow of the whole thing because it's hard finding the actual Dynasty story past all of the sigs and stuff.

Finally the monkey is off the back. Hi im Spencer Hayes and we finally are expierencing a happy postgame show! The Wizards just played stifiling D tonight and this is what led them to ther 1st win of the season. They realized that they dont have the scorers to outscore people and figured out that defense was the key.
Jamal welcome to KWIZ
Jamal:Thanks Spencer first off great win. 2nd what do you think about the trade? im tlaking about the recent one not the miller one.
I thought it was a very smart move Elden Campbell is a good expirenced 7 footer who will help out in the long term.
Kris whats your question??
Kris:Do you think this could be the 1st step to the playoffs?
YES
in 2 or 3 years!WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT this is ther FIRST count em 1. First win they will not make the playoffs they just played well tonight and will continue to do so but will not even be in the hunt for the playoffs.
Dekoven HOllA
Dekoven:I know its not that important but dont you think Jamison should have been player of the game??
He defintely could have been and so far he has been the key piece to the team and was a great offseason move but Brad Miller cleaned the glass and had a block party and tonight was about Defense so that is why he recieved it and he was a great in season move.
Tune in after the next game wher we go for 2 STRAIGHT
im Spencer Hayes thanks for listening to KWIZ
