Miami Heat Fantasy Draft Season 2003-2004 Record 3-0

Postby Mark. on Sun May 09, 2004 5:58 pm

Right here is the successor to my Boston Fantasy Draft.

I'm only going to do a 28 game season since i dont see myself finishing an 82 game one before Live 2005 come out.

So, my settings:
28 Game Season
12 Min Play Quarters
12 Min Sim Quarters
My tweaked sliders
Andrews Rosters with some tweaks.

Right so anyway i got the 11th pick in the Draft.

==============================================

Season 2003-2004

NBA Redraft.

The Miami Heat came into the NBA Redraft with the 11th pick in the draft. Picking 11th gave them plenty of good options to choose from, projected superstars that would be left were Allen Iverson, Jermaine O'Neal, Stephon Marbury and of course the Rookie phenomeon LeBron James.

The first pick in the draft went to Phoenix who snatched up Kobe Bryant, a very debateable choice with KG, Shaq and TD all avaliable. But you can never forget Kobe's killer instinct and clutch playing in the crunch.

To add even more supprise to the draft, the Bulls used their second pick to aquire PG Baron Davis, it seemed that the player of choice nowdays was to be a guard.

To even more solidify that theory San Antonio (Who must have known the value of a superstar bigman) drafted T-Mac with their third pick.

Finally with the fourth pick Memphis chose Kevin Garnett.

Next Tim Duncan was snatched up by the Clippers, then Shaq by the Nuggets.

Then it was to be 3 swingmen in a row with Paul Pierce going to the Hawks followed by Vin-Sanity to Utah then the Matrix to Seattle.

Finally it was Miami's turn to pick.

The projections were correct, but even Jason Kidd was still avaliable. It was a tough choice for the Heat, but they went and suppried everyone in drafting Ben Wallace 11th. Obviously the new GM Match_66 wanted a solid defensive interior.

Coming into the second round it seemed a clear guess who the Heat would be taking with Yao Ming still avaliable, but once again the guesses were wrong, Miami using their second round pick to take Rookie Dwyane Wade.

The rest of the draft continued as predicted, Miami building a solid team with both youth and veternship.

At the end of the draft the Heat had compiled the following line-up:

C: Ben Wallace
PF: Nene
SF: Grant Hill
SG: Dion Glover
PG: Dwyane Wade
--------------------
Bench
G/F Scottie Pippen
G Rafer Alston
F/C Udonis Haslem
F/C Jerome Moiso
G Damon Jones
F Marcje Lampe
F/G Hedo Turkoglu

Interview with New Miami GM Match_66:

Press -"Match, today saw you supprise many a critic with both your first and second round picks, with Ben being your first pick are you aiming at a defensive style of play?"

M66 -"The main reason for getting Ben was so that we didnt have to worry about defense as much when selecting our other Big men, i dont really think our style of play will be solely defensive, but rather we will rely on a solid defense to back up our offense"

Press -"What about taking Dwyane Wade with your second pick, you know you could have had Yao"

M66 -"Yeah that would would have been a very formidable front court, but ive seen Dwyane play and he will be a huge star very soon, the spotlight has been on Melo and LeBron but Wade could be a rookie of the year still"

Press -"Well we wish you luck for the season then"

M66 -"Thanks"

Does anyone know why this post is so wide??

no idea :?

But nice team , its not to over the top and a team that could go far. Should be a powerfull frontline of Wallace and Nene and the guards can put up alot of points too.
Whats Grant Hill's rating?

Right my first game was November 3rd 7:30pm
0-0 Heat @ 0-1 Mavs

I got half way through but had to go out and came back and the game had stalled, my fault should have parked it.

So i simmed the game and ended up winning it.

November 8th 7pm

1-0 Miami Heat @ 0-0 Houston Rockets

Starters

Miami
F: Grant Hill
F: Nene
C: Ben Wallace
G: Dion Glover
G: Dwyane Wade

Houston
F: Caron Butler
F: Dirk Nowitski
C: Elden Campbell
G: David Wesley
G: Andre Miller

This game was to be a learning curve for the Heat, trying to find out how each other plays. They did ahve training camp but this was their first game together (im not counting the simmed one). But it was the same for the Rockets as this was their first game was well. Look for some mistakes by both teams at the start.

The first quarter was as predicted, full of mistakes, but the Heat managed to knuckle down on defense and get out to a 17-9 lead with 3 miutes left, behind some good play form Big Ben with 8 points and 5 rebounds. But when Wallace went off the Rockets made a run to close out the quarter with the Heat only up by 1, 20-19.

The second saw the Heat once again take control behind the offense of Dwyane Wade and defense of Ben Wallace.

Halftime Score: 45-37

The third quarter was a block fest for Ben Wallace, notching up 7 to his name during the quarter. On the other end Nene was powering his way around the Key. By the end of the third the heat were up 67-58 and Ben Wallace already had a triple double with 14p 11rebs 10blks.

The fourth saw the scrubs get brought out by the Heat with Ben Wallace still contorling the paint.

End Score 95-75 Heat Win

POG: Ben Wallace 15p 6/9 21rebs 10blks 1stl 5ast

Top Performers

Dwyane Wade 18p 6/10 7rebs 2stl 7ast
Nene 12p 6rebs 2blk 2stl
Grant Hill 12p 4rebs 2stl 3ast

Dirk Nowitski 27p 7rebs 2stl 2ast
Andre Miller 4p 5rebs 2stl 7ast

November 12 7:30

0-5 Cleveland Cavs @ 2-0 Miami Heat

Starters

Miami
F: Grant Hill
F: Nene
C: Ben Wallace
G: Dion Glover
G: Dwyane Wade

Cleveland
F: Kendrick Brown
F: Shareet Abdur Rahim
C: Chris Kamen
G: Desmond Mason
G: Gary Payton

Once again these two teams looked to be evenly matched, Miami maybe having a stronger bench. The key match-up will be Reef on Nene since Nene is young and energetic while Reef is still just as fit and has a better shot.

THis time the Heat were trailing for the most of the first quarter but managed to pull back in a little to trail by one point at the end of the quarter, 23-22, thanks to some great offense from Dwyane Wade.

The second saw the Heat fall ebhind even more, as their defense just wasnt working, and not much else was happening on offense. Wade was all that was keeping Miami in the game.

Halftime Score: 53-41

Dwyane Wade made a statment in the third. Seemingly to exploding out of the changing room, Wade pulled the Heat back into the game, sparking a 13-0 run with a quick steal then dunk, he lead the heat to a 81-67 lead at the end of the quarter. Wade had 26 points at the end of the 3rd.

The fourth was the Cavs comeback but Big Ben took control of the boards to cut down any second chance points and get the ball out on the fast break quickly.

End Score: 108-100 Heat Win

POG: Dwyane Wade 35p 2rebs 2stl 6ast

Novemeber 13th

Today the Miami Heat Management announced they had worked two trades to bring some young defensive swing men to Miami. First Grant Hill was sent to Chicago for SF James Posey. Then Scottie Pippen was sent to Atlanta for Jarvis Hayes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh umm Hill was rated 69 i think, Scottie was 66. Posey was 66 and Hayes is 63. So i really lost out, but Hayes is really quick so he will help on D and i didnt like Scottie not putting up good numbers and Hill didnt really fit my style.

November 18th 7:30pm

3-0 Miami Heat @ 0-5 Washington Wizards

Starters

Miami
F: James Posey
F: Nene
C: Ben Wallace - C
G: Dion Glover
G: Dwyane Wade

Washington
F: Latrell Sprewell
F: Cliff Robinson
C: Brad Miller
G: Kerry Kittles
G: Kirk Hinrich

The tale of two different teams. Washington came into this game having lost all of their first 5 games while the blazing Heat had won all 3 of their first games. Washington will be looking to get out of the ditch, while the Heat will be looking to continue the run, puching Washington further towards the lottery.

Glover came into this game looking to defend his starting job, with the recent acquisition of James Posey and Jarvis Hayes, and he had a very good arguement at the end of the first quarter, finishing with 10 points on 4/5 shooting. To go with Glovers offense, the Heat played some solid D to take a 25-19 lead into the second.

The good defenses continued into the second with Nene playing well in the middle, when Ben was tired. James Posey went down with an elbow injury during the quarter but was able to return to the game.

Halftime Score: 52-37 Heat Lead

The third started with the Wizards making a charge, but it was easily repelled by the Miami defense. On the other end of the court the Heat offense was flowing very smoothly. With Jarvis Hayes being the key scorer during the second half. At the end of the third Miami was up 78-60.

The final quarter was another rest for Miami, the full rotation gettign minutes, with no real comeback attempt by the Heat. Going in for a lay-up Nene was fouled hard and was injured and out for the game with a left knee injury, his condition will be evaluated before the next game.

Final Score: 103-84 Heat Win

POG: Dwyane Wade 20p 7/14 5rebs 7ast

Top Performers:

Jarvis Hayes 20p 7/13 3rebs 2stl 26mins

Dion Glover 19p 8/14 3rebs 3stl 4ast

Brad Miller 24p 7rebs
Cliff Robinson 13p 4rebs 3stl
Kerry Kittles 11p 3rebs 3ast.

Sorry dude's im discontinuing this dynasty. Mainly since i got sick of the fantasy draft feature, i hated playing teams that i ddint knwo who they had and what to expect, it did add an extra challenege but it was also hard to figue out which offensive sets to give them.

Anyway ill be starting a dynasty with real rosters soon, just have to decide who to use.
