mp3's Knicks Dynasty... part 2

Postby mp3 on Mon Mar 01, 2004 10:55 pm

Well i started this dynasty as soon as i got the game had done about 40+ games when KVH got traded and i lost interest. i did the Van Horn trade did afew game then started other Dynastys.
Well iam back at it again so il just bring u upto speed with where iam at...
the only trade that id done was trading Norris to the Sixers on the day of the deadline for there 1st round pick. i started it again last night did a couple of game and decided to sim to next year, the Knicks went on to the playoff with a 55-27 record been knocked out of the playoffs in the second round by the Pistons.

In the off season i resigned Marbury & Thomas to 4 year deals worth 250.000 & 290.000 a year. I also resigned Penny to a one year deal ( 190.000) and let Johnson walk.

In the draft the Sixers pick turned out to be good at number 13, the knicks pick was number 21 so i glad i shipped out Norris now.
In the draft its self i took "MARIUS ROLLINS" a 6.5 195lbs SG overall 62 with the 13th pick and with the knicks 24th pick i got a surprise... a player that i looked at with the 13th pick a center "KARL BARKLEY" had slipped so i grabbed him... 6.11 272lbs center 49 overall. With my second round pick a took a chance on making a 6.9 SG into a PG, it said he had great handle for his size and can knock down the three.."WALT ARNOLD" turned out to be a 29 overall...lol

Starters...

Knicks@Bucks

First game of the season and the first match up with Keith Van Horn. The Knick hit first Marbury slashing to the basket for easy points while Kurt Thomas rebounded every missed shot but then Kurt picked up his second to send him to the bench which gave the Bucks a chance to get back into it. at the half knicks lead 49-43.
-----------------------------------------------
K.Thomas 6 points 8 rebounds
S.Marbury 11 points 3 assists
-----------------------------------------------
J.Smith 12 points
KVH 8 points 4 rebounds
-----------------------------------------------

Going into the second half it looked good for the knicks till Kurt picked up his 3rd and 4th fouls in the first 2 minutes!! allowing players like T.j ford to get 4 offensive rebounds. joe smith added 8 in the 3rd and Redd had a very quite game just 7 points going into the 4th.
Marbury had a big 4th quarter chipping in 14 points to finish with 25 he also added 9 assists.
Final score = 104-97 Knicks

-----------------------------------------------
Marbury 25 points 9 assists
Houston 16 points
T.Thomas 15 points
-----------------------------------------------
Van Horn 16 points 9 rebounds

This was one of the best games of live ive every played, an up and down game till the last 3 minutes.
The Bulls used there inside game to pick up easy points with Tyson Chandler and A.D, it was so nice to see a post game by a start player other than just jackin up 3's all the time.The Knicks keep in the game by some strong play by Tim Thomas who hit 27 points shooting 64% from the field.Marbury had an off passing game with just 5 assists but still had 20 points, Player of the game Kurt Thomas was in foul trouble again, ive still not been able to play him more than 20mpg coz of it. Hinrich had a nice 4th quarter with 8 of his 11 coming there. the Bulls had a great offensive game going lead by Chandler with 28 points but the Bulls just couldnt come up with defensive stops late in the game.

Knicks suffer first loss of the season....

Starters....

PF-Thomas<------------->PF-L.Odom
SF-T.Thomas<----------->SF-C.Butler
SG-Houston<------------->SG-E.Jones
PG-Marbury<------------->PG-D.Wade

In one of the worst performances of the season the knicks drop there first game. The Heat came out on fire as the never lead, Heat Forward Odom worked it inside and outside to make the Heat fans happy scoring 31 points. The knicks shot just 34% for the game 28% going into the 4th. I have know idea what happened the Knicks just couldnt even hit a layup missing shot after shot. Houston lead the Knicks with 23 on 8 of 28 shooting. although the Knicks were delt a break when not only Wade but also Jones went down injuried they just couldnt get the win but they did pull it to 2 with 3 seconds left but Houston missed a 3 at the buzzer.

Knicks@Sixers

Tough tough loss for the Knicks playing a team that lost two starters to the free agents market Allen Iverson and Eric Snow.
The Sixers are in the rebuilding stage lead by Glen "Big Dog" Robinson and Kenny Thomas who are playing great at the moment.

Starters...

C-Mutombo<------------> C-M.Jackson
PF-Thomas<------------->PF-K.Thomas
SF-T.Thomas<----------->SF-G.Robinson
SG-Houston<------------->SG-A.McKie
PG-Marbury<------------->PG-G.Overton (Rookie)

From the get go the Sixers used there speed to push the ball right at the knicks taking a 10-1 lead and never looked back. Once again the Knicks shot the ball poorly and it cost them. No Knick player had a good game the best shooting 60% (Karl Barkley) the rest shot under 45%.
Great game for Kenny Thomas who took player of the game with his 24 points 14 rebounds and 5 assists, also the Sixers Rookie PG Overton looked real nice, good future ahead.
Final score = 95 - 83 Sixers
---------------------------------------------------------------
K.Thomas 4 points 6 rebounds
S.Marbury 16 points 4 assists
A.Houston 17 points 6 rebounds (off)
---------------------------------------------------------------
K.Thomas 24 points 14 rebounds 5 assists
G.Robinson 19 points 9 rebounds

TRADE NEWS

The Wizards offered me Brenden Haywood for Rookie Marius Rollins.
I didnt accept the trade mainly coz of the player ratings difference 62 - 51 + the fact that i didnt think Haywood could help the team but i had been thinking of trading Rollins as i was about to write him off as a bust, so i looked at other trades with the Wizards coz there trade interest in Rollins was very high and i wanted rid.
I worked out a deal that sent M.Rolling , C.Trybanski and W.Arnold to the Wizards for J.Hayes and Ryan Bowen.
TRADE ACCEPTED

TRADE BREAKDOWN

When i drafted M.Rollins i had him in mind of replacing Allan Houston in a couple of years, that was the plan... but what i got was a good shooter yes but no speed no quickness no defence low fg% just didnt fit into the team at all. id only played him 3 times out of the 6 games coz he was so bad!! This is a great trade for the knicks getting Javis Hayes is big plus to the team i know i can put him into the game and he will put up numbers, the perfect replacement for Houston. He's a pure shooter and can take his man off the dribble.
And as if that wasnt enough i got Ryan Bowen for two stiffs - Trybanski and Rookie pg Walt Arnold the wizards were robbed with this trade.

NBA NEWS

The Wizards trade J.Hayes and R.Bowen to the Knicks for M.Rollins, C.Trybanski and W.Arnold

Knicks@Bulls

The Knicks finally had a good shooting game hitting 53% for the game.
The Bulls were missings in action as Tyson Chandler was a one man army to keep the Bulls from having a season low points, Chandler hit for 38 points to lead all scorer. Hinrich was playing with an injury (sore wrist) and was a no show on the stat sheet while A.D had a 4/14 fg% night.
All was good for the Knicks and Hayes who made his Knick debut scoring 8 points on 2/3fg 4/4ft and 4 rebounds, both sets of free throws came coming when Hayes tryed to dunk on Eddy Curry.
It was the perfect game for the Knicks til the last 2minutes of the 4th when Kurt Thomas jumped to block a shot and got injuried.
Final score = 104 - 79 Knicks
------------------------------------------------------------
K.Thomas 8 points 15 rebounds
S.Marbury 20 points 9 assists
J.Hayes 8 points 4 rebounds 20 mins
------------------------------------------------------------
T.Chandler 38 points 9 rebounds POG
E.Robbinson 12 points 8 assists

Bad luck with Thomas...have you experienced any other injuries? Donyell Marshall is the only player on my roster who has been injured for more than one game. He was day-to-day, but I placed him on the IR anyway.

ive had 2 injuried players so far other than Kurt that have "gone for game" but after the games finished there fine, Kurts the only real injury ive had so far.
He was playable for the Cetics game but i left him on the bench and will probable do the same for the next game too, ive got 2 home games then iam on a 4 game west coast trip which lands back to back to back to back :shock: so iam gonna save Thomas for that.

PF-T.Thomas<------------->PF-W.McCarty
SF-Hardaway<----------->SF-M.Miller
SG-Houston<------------->SG-P.Pierce
PG-Marbury<------------->PG-M.Banks

The Knicks were playing without starting power forward Kurt Thomas but showed no signs that they were gonna lose this one. Paul Pierce was nowhere to be seen as he put in one of his worst performances of his life just 6 points on 3/22 FG's and 0-6 at the line. i took full advantage using Houston and Marbury at full strengh both had 22 points.
Mohammed will earn himself a stating spot next game at center, he's just been amazing off the bench the last few game putting up two double doubles. The game though out, LaFrentz, Ricky Davis and Mike Miller put on pressure but it wasnt enough to stop the knick rolling with this one.
Final score = 102- 94 Knicks

S.Marbury 22 points 8 assists
A.Houston 22 points 4/5 3fg
N.Mohammed 12 points 13 rebounds 3 blocks

Did not see this one coming...lol
The Knicks playing there second straight game without Kurt Thomas got man handled on the boards and got ran off the floor by the 1-5 magic.
It was another bad day in New York soiling the debut and first start of Javis Hayes. It was the Magic's bench that came though Pachulia doing the most of the damage with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Facts... the knicks shot 28% fact... the Magic had 40 points off the bench fact... Magic won the Boards 54-36 fact.. Magic dished 30 assists to the Knicks 11.

Marbury was just to much as he colleted player of the game award.
Late in the 3rd Tim Thomas got injured and was gone for game turned out to be a sore toe...lol he's day to day but i think il still play him.

PF-T.Thomas<------------->PF-C.Borchardt
SF- Hayes<---------------->SF-M.Harpring
SG-Houston<------------->SG-F.Sellers (rookie)
PG-Marbury<------------->PG-E.Snow

The Knicks got there first look at the number 1 pick F.Sellers of the Jazz and liked what they saw, Seller's a three point bombed hammered the Knicks for 22 points. In a game that the knicks looked certain to win they let an 18 point second half lead slip and then in the final minute missed 5 key free throw :roll:
It came down to a 3 point game in favour of the Jazz with 13 secds left, after the timeout i shot a quick 3 with Houston which miss Mutombo grabed the rebound passed it back out to Marbury who missed a 3 as well.
It was a huge upset and iam mad at myself for missing free throws like that, 2 with Houston and 3 with Marbury.... shame on me :doh:
Final score = 107 - 104 Jazz

PLAY OF THE GAME

A nice break away dunk by Matt Harpring over Allan Houston..

TRADE NEWS

The Knicks trade Shandon Anderson to the Blazers for Travis Outlaw and Dan Dickau

TRADE BREAKDOWN

Getting Andersons contract off the books was the main reason behind this trade. I wanted a backup point guard to pick up some of the slack while Marburys on the bench, i only had to pg's on my roster so it adds alittle more depth to the team. I dont really know much about Travis Outlaw apart from he's a big time dunker, il try him out to see what type of game he has if he doesnt work out then il trdae him later on in the year.

PF-Thomas<-------------->PF-Walker
SF- T.Thomas<----------->SF-Nowitzki
SG-Houston<------------->SG-Finley
PG-Marbury<------------->PG-Nash

In one of the biggest upsets this season the Knicks shocked the home team lead behind Marbury's first triple double. The trigger happy mavs were lead by there star man Dirk Nowitzki, the Knicks got off to a quick start with Kurt Thomas making some huge baskets inside as the Knicks took advantage of the smaller Dallas team but the 3 point bombers pulled it back at halftime up by 1 going into the second half.
Thats when marbury took over scoring 27 of his game high 37 in the fouth quarter, Tony Delk hit back in a helpless effort with 7 3's to lead the Mavs but this was just the Knicks's night.
Final score = 106 - 101 Knicks
------------------------------------------------------------
S.Marbury 37 points 10 rebounds 14 assists 43 minutes POG
K.Thomas 18 points 15 rebounds
T.Thomas 16 points 10 rebounds
------------------------------------------------------------
T.Delk 27 points 7/10 3's off the bench
D.Nowitzki 17 points 7 rebounds 6 assists
A.Walker 18 points 9 rebounds
-------------------------------------------------------------

PLAY OF THE GAME

There were many choices for this one but i think il have to go with Marbury to Tim Thomas...
The Knicks pulled back into the game in the 3rd behind a 12-1 run, Nowitzki missed a shot and was late getting back while T.T was running down court looking for the ball , Marbury saw him and lobbed the alleyoop to Tim for the finish.

In the first game Dickau came off the bench ahead of Williams, Dickau's a great 3 point shooter and he's very quick as well , he had 6 points 4 assists while Outlaw started his Knick career on the inj list, Rookie Karl Barkley will make way for him next game so i can try him out. il keep you posted (Y)

Congrats on beating the Mavs (Y) They always piss me off, to many weapons and Delk hitting 7/10 from downtown would be frustrating as hell. Looks like Starbury is unstoppable, 27 points in the fourth :) and still gets a triple double, Good work
