The Sonics Return the Reign Man!

AP - Earlier this week the Seattle Supersonics aquired an old star from their formidable mid-90's team. Their formwer Power Forward, Shawn Kemp. Kemp was the teams heart and soul on offense during his early tenure with the team, and now that he is aging and nearing the end of his career, what better way then to finish on the team that grew to love you? Shawn Kemp signed a minimum deal contract with the Seattle Supersonics for only this season. Kemp's future after this year is unsure, dependent on whether or not he wants to retire. The team said they will gladly extend his contract in the future if Kemp decides about his retirement early. Shawn Kemp played well off the bench for the Orlando Magic last season, and this year is expected to challenge young Nick Collison for the starting PF poisiton.

The Seattle Supersonics have announced their starting lineup for the new season. A few movements and surprises were made, and this new lineup was churned out.

Supersonics Starting Lineup
---------------------------------------------------------------
Center - Vladmir Radmonovic
Power Forward - Shawn Kemp
Small Forward - Rashard Lewis
Shooting Guard - Ray Allen
Point Guard - Brent Barry

There was some dispute early on in training camp about whether or not Shawn Kemp would obtain the starting slot over Collison. After a strong showing it was apparent Kemp was going to be a force to be reckoned with, and Seattle realized this. They demoted Jerome James to the bench and placed Radmonovic at his secondary position at Center. The team was also questioning whether or not to start either Antonio Daniels or Flip Murray at the point guard position (before updates to roster, murry underrated) but Barry proved his worth and will be holding on to the starting job.

October Schedule
------------------------------------------------------
Nov 30th Clippers Lost 104-136
Nov 31st @Clippers Won 121-102

Game Notes
----------------------
Oct. 30th - Clippers
Ray Allen stepped it up with 35 points on the night, and Brent Barry had a solid outing with 7 steals! However the fastbreaks of the Los Angeles Clippers is what devestated the Seattle Supersonics. It felt like all day they were running back to thier basket chasing after a Clipper dunking. Not much could be done about this high-scoring game.
Oct. 31st - @Clippers
Ray Allen had a great game as he put up 32 points on the night, and Rashard Lewis complimented him with 28 on the night as well. The surprising rebounding of Shawn Kemp (12) gave the advantage to the Supersonics as they limited the amount of opportunities that the Clippers could obtain.

Nov 29th     Rockets          Lost   104-119

Game Notes
----------------------
Nov. 7th - Trailblazers
This was a game that the Supersonics felt would test them, and it did. After 3 grueling quarters of tough play, thanks to the in-the-paint jamming by Rashard Lewis they managed to pull away int he 4th. After a small defensive breakdown where the Blazers went on a 10-2 run, the Sonics held them out long enough to win.
Nov. 9th - Hawks
This was a tough loss, after beating a solid team like the Portland Trailblazers, only to loose to the league's worst team in the Atlanta Hawks. The Supersonics were embarrased at home in their last game before a long road trip. This defense-less game was one that the Sonics want to soon forget.
Nov. 11th - Timberwolves
Big victory coming off that loss to the Hawks, taking it to Kevin Garnett and his team late in the game. Ray Allen sunk a 3-pointer with a few seconds remaining in the game. It would give the Sonics the lead 111 to 105, the Wolves went on to score once more, but it wasn't enough.
Nov 12th - Bucks
A 96 to 85 victory as the Supersonics held it up on the defensive end of the ball. A 6 steal game for Brent Barry, and a 4 Steal game for Luke Ridenour off the bench (15 minutes) were both welcomed suprises.
Nov. 14th - Pacers
The Sueprsonics took it to the pacers who were missing Reggie Miller for 6 days due to injury. The lack of Miller allowed the team to focus less on the outside shooting and more on the inside trouble they had been having all year. Containing the fast-breaks, thanks to Brent Barry, and Vladamir Radmonovic having a solid game with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
Nov. 15th - Bulls
An old rivalry brought up once more as the Supersonics managed to take out the Bulls. The sonics were tied up with the bulls until 5.6 seconds remained. A clutch shot by Rashard Lewis gave them the victory, as the Bulls couldn't produce on the other end.
Nov. 18th - Heat
A tough loss for the Supersonics, once again underestimating a team in a game that they "should" win. This loss breaks their road winning streak, as Eddie Jones made life difficult for them. It appeared that no Seattle PG would be able to defend him as he put up an amazing 37 points on the night.
Nov 21st - Grizzlies
After the embarrasement of 3 days ago against the Miami Heat, the Supersonics came out charged and pulled up a big-time victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. Holding then to just under 100 points on defense, Ray Allen left with 5 steals and 8 assists to tack onto his 30 points.
Nov 23rd - Wizards
By far the best offensive game the Supersonics have played all year. This high-scoring fest was due to the lack of defense on both teams. Season-high's were had for both of the Supersonics superstars in this game. Ray Allen put up a solid 45 points meanwhile Rashard Lewis trailed right behind him with 41 on the night.
Nov 25th - Nets
It appears that the Supersonics used all their offensive battery in the game 2 days earlier as the Supersonics couldn't eclipse 76 points on the night as they dropped this one by 20 points.
Nov 28th - Jazz
The Sonics bounce back from their loss with a smacking of the Utah Jazz. The Jazz couldn't get anything going as the Sonics took it hom 120 to 84. Shawn Kemp was the star of the night as he looked like the Shawn Kemp of the early 90's. He put up 24 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks, 3 assists, and a steal.
Nov 29th - Rockets
This was a struggling game for the Supersonics, they only showed up for the 4th quarter, but the defeciet was so bad they couldn't follow through. Ray Allen got into foul trouble early with 5 fouls in the first half of the game! He would leave tonight with only 14 points. Shawn Kemp had a solid 15 rebounds but only 8 points. The Supersonics outscored the Rockets in the 4th quarter 30 to 21,, but that was hardly enough for victory.

He was the reason I got into NBA basketball :) Don't know why, but I just saw the Sonics played and grew to like him and the team. Felt that he should end his career where it started. Well i'm 1/2 way through with December, and this is "where i'm at" at the moment, so expect all the areas to be filled for next update, and not have the missing pieces :)

Game Notes
----------------------
Dec. 3rd - Knicks
Well the Supersonics tried their best in this outing as we nearly eclipsed the 100 point mark once again. Brent Barry surprisingly fouled out during the 3rd quarter, leaving rookie Luke Ridenour to take care of the rest of the game.
Dec. 5th - Pacers
With a low scoring defensive matchup being put together, the Pacers gave a tough fight. It went into overtime with regulation ending at 78 points even. In overtime the Sonics still struggled to break away from the Pacers, however two free throws by Rashard Lewis would be the game-winning scores. Shawn Kemp had 13 rebounds.
Dec. 7th - Raptors
This was a slaughtering, we came to Toronto and lit them up. After eclipsing 100 points in the 3rd quarter, the backups came in to gain more experience. Ray Allen finished with 38 points, Lewis 33, and Kemp 19.
Dec. 9th - Nets
By far the worst game we have played all season long. The East champions of the past couple of years took it to us at their house. We couldn't get anything going offensively with only 65 points the whole night. They won by a solid 28 points, and it was simply a game to forget.
Dec. 10th - Celtics
This was a great game, we managed to contian Paul Pierce to a 14 point game thanks to the outstanding defensive play of Brent Barry (6 steals). Not to mention Ray Allen took down a triple-double (24 pts - 12 reb - 11 as) and also had 3 steals on the night. The Celtics hardly put up any offense until the final quarter where Seattle was outscored 29 to 20 but it was meaningless at that point.
Dec. 12th - Pistons
This was a tough loss because we were there all game long. The lead was changed over ten times in the second half. However in the fourth quarter a few mistakes led to the teams downfall. Four missed free-throws and an offensive foul did not all any sort of comeback in time for victory.
Dec. 14th - Bucks
This high-scoring game was close to the bitter-sweet end. With the game tied at 114 and only mere seconds remaining. The Bucks opted not to foul and force the overtime or a miracle shot. We opted for the miracle shot as Ray Allens sunk a 25-footer to give us the win. Allen had another triple-double (38 pts - 10 reb - 10 as - 4 stl) meanwhile Shawn Kemp put up surprising numbers (26 pts - 6 reb).
Dec. 16th - Suns
Then Suns were never really in this game, it was a great game played n both sides but Seattle proved their defensive prowess with an amazing 20 steals on the night for the team. They limited the Suns to only two fast-break buckets, a problem so far this season. Maurbury only had 17 points on the night and 5 assists. Ray Allen finished with 25 points and 9 assists.
Dec. 17th - Nuggets
This game was all about Ray Allen, he was a scoring machine tonight as we went on to defeat the Nuggets. Ray Allen put up a career-high 57 points on the night! He could not be stopped on the inside he also had 9 rebouns, 6 steals, but only a single assist. Ray Allen established himself as a MVP candidate after today's game.
Dec. 19th - Spurs
After the amazing offensive output of Ray Allen in the previous game, many were wondering what happened as he only put up 19 on this night. Despite this, the Supersonics did not come close to the Spurs as Tim Duncan proved too much to handle with 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Dec. 20th - Nuggets
Once again Shawn Kemp played great defensively with 14 rebounds on the night, put only had 9 points. The Suns contained the Nuggets all day long, but after 3-consecutive 3-pointers in the final seconds there was some doubt.
Dec. 23rd - Suns
This was an amazing game that epitomized the Seattle Supersonics season so far. At half-time the Sonics appeared to be completely out of the game, they were down by 30 points! With a score of 74 to 44. However a miraculous 2nd half by Rashard Lewis and Shawn Kemp brought them close enough to tie before the end. (Lewis 43 pts, Kemp 32 pts, 13 reb). The story of the night was in the first play of the 4th quarter, Ray Allen fouled out. However the Sonics still came back to take it to overtime. In overtime Shawn Marion fouled out for the Suns, and 2-made free-throws by Shawn Kemp sent it into double-overtime. After another grueling 5-minutes the Sonics finally pulled away with an alley-oop play from Antonio Daniels to Rashard Lewis to seal the victory.
Dec 27th - Timberwolves
The worst part about this day was not the loss of 45 points, but the loss of point guard Brent Barry. Barry suffered bone spurs in his foot and will be benched for 2 weeks. The NBA league-leader in steals and steals per game, (3.5) was down but not out.
Dec 29th - Rockets
In a rematch of the teams loss in November, they managed to crush Houston. After being embarressed earlier they came to Houston and took it to them beating them by 17 points on the night. Holding Steve Francis to a mere 6 points on the night!
Dec. 30th - Grizzlies
Another high-scoring game was had as the Sonics played the Memphis Grizzlies. A tough game was brought closer in the 4th quarter as Jason Williams hit 4 3-pointers in that time (30 points on the night!) However Ray Allen helped to ahve yet another triple-double (38 pts - 14 rebs - 11 ass - 5 stl) and Shawn Kemp put up some solid numbers with 22 pts and 10 rebounds. The Sonics left December victorious, and in big-fashion.

NBA News/Transactions

-Jazz sign Joe Forte to a 1 year deal for the Minimum
-Nets sign Glen Rice to a 1 year deal for the Minimum
-Blazers sign Mamadou N'Diaye to a 1 year deal for the Minimum
-Clippers trade Pedgrag Drobnjak to the Grizzlies for Michael Dickerson
-Raptors trade Michael Curry to the Wizards for Chris Whitney
-Bucks trade Brian Skinner to the Clippers for Eddie House
-Sonics sign Tim Hardaway to a 1 year deal for the Minimum*
-Pistons trade Elden Campbell to the Pacers for Johnathan Bender
-Heat trade Loren Woods to the Pacers for Reggie Miller

December Notes
The Seattle Supersonics signed veteran point guard, Tim Hardaway to the team three days ago. This signing was for only the season at the league's minimum amount of money. However the addition was needed due to the injury of PG Brent Barry. The team's only other PG on the roster was rookie Luke Ridenour, and in case of his collapse, they didn't want to be helpless. So far Hardaway has played in two games and garnered some decent plays during his time. Hardaway will be a welcomed addition due to hsi knowledge of the game, and hopefully, will be able to teach Ridenour something before his probable departure at the end of the season.

Excellent recap! Sounds like you're having a lot of fun with your Dynasty. It's great when you can really get into the season. When you're not having fun, you quickly lose interest.

Shawn Kemp's numbers are nice - it's a shame the real Reignman couldn't get his career back on track. :(

Yeah i'm having a blast! As for Kemp yeah he's putting up some great numbers, he's amazing on the inside. A pro-hop here, a pro-hop there and he's under the basket for the slam. Although he has low dribbling or something because every once and awhile he'll just fumble the basketball. He may not be that big either, but he gets right up there for the rebounds, and so far, has been working better then Radmonovic on the inside.

Did you play all those games on superstar, 12 minutes quarters? Quite impressive...

Yes I did, however on 12 minute quarters i was getting a lot of high-scores and nothing in-between, just constant high-scores. I merely deducted a minute so it's 11 minute quarters and that's seems to be sufficient enough for me. I tweaked the CPU shooting ones as well, as the first few games i played (not in dynasty played exhibition till got to my liking) the CPU get outscoring me 160 to 80 or something like that. Now it's pretty good I think, although I may raise their shooting up slightly if I constantly remain #1 in the league, as I don't feel that it is realisitic or challenging to constantly be #1 (but i JUST took #1 with that last game, the Lakers were #1 up until then so right now i feel confident).

hey man, great dynasty. like reading about it, great recaps...keep them coming.

just one hint though..could you also add the scores next to the recaps? :D this way i don't have to scroll up to see the final scores for some games. thanks.

>.< well, i installed the roster update but didn't realize my sonics dynasty was in the 000 save slot. So it was written over  So i guess i'm going to do some slight attribute modifications, and...well, start it all over. We'll just let this thread drop to the dredgs of page 2 or something, i'll post it up in a new one.
